I think Group C will provide more drama & excitement. This group is a walk in the park for the Dutch & Germans.

I picked

1) Germany
2) Netherlands

Denmark will probably get owned for sure. Portugal, don't want them to go through.

Lol peope are overrating us and underrating Portugal... I fear the worst with Portugal, for obvious reasons, we might get surprised by them or even Denmark since our defense is so bad thanks to injuries, it certainly won't be a walk in the park, perhaps not even for Germany... I haven't seen Portugal play lately though. But I don't think they're ranked 5th for nothing, and they raped Spain 4-0... Does anyone know if they really are that good now, should we be afraid of them?

But I hope (and somwhere believe) that it will just be alright, and we will go through with Germany...

Dont u go sweating it Martijn... They are shit. Just watch... Portugal will get owned big time... Denmark might cause trouble here & there, but at the end of the day, bosses will be bosses! Lol, Portugal will get owned? You got to be kidding me! You are underrating Portugal so much (like everyone did in this topic), we probably have the two best Central Defenders of the whole competition, Pepe and Bruno Alves, and certainly the best from our group. The midfield, it's not what it was some years ago but it's still good, Holland wins in here but I don't think that the difference is too large. The attack, Portugal has the two best wingers of football, we only loose to the other teams in the Striker.

Ohhhhh, I don't even comment the part of "Nani by himself can change games, CR7? not so sure" because it is even more absurd than saying that we will get owned and that we are shit. And I am so sure that your post was based on hours and hours of games that you saw from Portugal.

VD Wiel Heitinga Vlaar Schaars

It's possible against a team with less qualities like Denmark. They will most probably play defensive, it's not necessary you play with both Van Bommel AND De Jong. You need a more 'footballing' player in front of the defence like Wes or Van der Vaart. But Van Marwijk will do it anyhow i am afraid.

And ofcourse he won' play as a pure DM. Van Bommel can do the most defensive work.

Stekelenburg
VDW-Heitinga-Mathijsen-LB?
De Jong-Strootman
Robben-Snejder-Van Persie
Huntelaar

This would be my pic. I have no idea who to play as LB though. Wes, Robben and RVP can drift, they won't be strictly = on one place. Wes could go more on the right, RVP in the middle.

The last 3 times he has played with them, he was used as a LB.

Pajo
08 Jun 12, 12:21
I know, but he is sitll not a LB, that's why im nor sure if they should play him there. Way too offensive. :) But i guess he'd be their choice.

Native
08 Jun 12, 18:43
Schaars once played a few games as LB in some clubs so he has some experience, but of course this doesn't make him a good LB. The real LB's we have are Bouma, who is utterly useless, slow and frozen like a rock (kinda like a Pazzo in defender-version), and Willems, who is young, fresh, fast and talented. The only problem is that he is only 18 and is way too inexperienced, and doesn't have the balls yet to play the way he should, more aggressive. I'm sure that he will not be able to stop a Nani or Ronaldo...

And that's about it... Of course you can experiment with Schaars or even Kuyt as LB, but I wouldn't take the risk on EURO 2012 matches... It would have been possible in one of the friendlies though. I wonder if Marwijk is going to try some weird shit for LB.

Anyways, I think we're kinda fucked on that position, and will get raped there.

I expected something to change after the Danish goal, but somehow the Oranje rather got exposed even more after conceding! Seems the defence is playing in a completely different game than the forward line. Seems disjointed... relying on individual talent.

Is it me or is Denmark playing like what we expected to see Netherlands play like and the Dutch are playing like what we expected Denmark to play like.

Denmark is balling the Dutch to death, just 1 2 touches and carving up the Dutch team. I am starting to think that Denmark must have been analyzing Spain's game plan, with the way they are playing. Its incredible.

He is choosing because ESPN believes that Americans wont be able to follow the commentators if they put some one new. Also might decrease the viewers in America who watch soccer, plus they can say hey Alexis Lalas played on team USA. They need to get real commentators like Roy Hudson (the one who calls Ozil, avatar eyes and CR7 Darth Vader).

Still can't get over the fucking draw. It's a shame that one of the winning competitors should go home after group stages. After Germany, Holland is my second choice but their adventure in this competition started very bad.

Denmark has always been a tricky team though. On another note, Germany has been pretty lucky to not concede in the first half. Pepe hits the crossbar with a nice shot.

Portugal being so close.. they're unlucky though. If something, they deserved one point in this game but however not always the best team wins. They had 11 men defending for the entire 1st half.. slightly improved in the 2nd but were still abysmal. They only opened up after Germany took the lead... Like what the heck were they thinking?!?! Seems they were trying to play for a drw... how can they justify trying for a draw with the talent they have?

I mean I understand Chelksi doing it against Barca or even Bayern... but on paper, Portugal and Germany are pretty even matched post for post.

Well, I liked both matches today.

Netherland - Denmark

I was really shocked with the result. I couldn't believe how much Van Persie sucked! And Robben didn't do shit .. Sneijder however was bossing the pitch.
Also I noticed Van Marwijk's tactics are just :palm:. Afellay was not playing bad atm of his sub. Neither was De Jong. He should have subbed Van Bommel and Van Persie. I know it's hard to sub Van Bommel because he's captain, but he really sucked today. And Van Persie :palm:, missing all those major chances our big man Wes created :star: just plain fail.
MOTM : Krohn-Deli.

Germany - Portugal

First half Germany tried harder then Portugal did. Portugal really shouldn't have used the long ball that much. Postiga was the weakest man on the pitch. I found it a trilling match, I was supporting for Portugal and damn they were close with Ronaldo, Pepe. However Germany didn't deserve to lose neither. Portugal should have scored, they showed they weren't afraid of the Germans. Nani was also playing bossmode and Ronaldo, I really think that's the worst captain to have (after Van Bommel :D) The coach should give the band to Meireles or Pepe, who fight for their team with pride and honour. Ronaldo only attacks, doesn't do shit at defending and mostly is complaining, however when he's on the ball, you immediately saw the Germans crapping their pants.
MOTM : Hummels. 100% Hummels. Damn that dude defended with all his body. He was all over the defence of Germany. Think his price just went up with 10m :work: also Badstuber didn't play bad neither.

------------------Stekelenburg-------------------

------------------De Jong----------------------

even now there are I think 2 or 3 promising players in german 2nd division who are elligible to play for us and our media are constantly bringing them up, unfortunately our assossiation executives are clueless about taking care of these things

I remeber not long ago, our former NT player's son Martin Kobylański's case, look up his wikipedie he plays for both teams, if not the media he wouldn'y play a single game for us, no wonder they may choose other teams, when our side doesn't show enough interest in them
