This is not the Capello-England, so it is impossible to hate on England.

With the 3 Lions on your uniforms and the world's best striker back on his grind, the boy brigade will strike fear and come out victorious to save the Queen!

Italy are favs for this game and that suits Roy's team. England will sit back as they did in last 5 games and will try to hit on counter.

Rooney was barely match fit against Ukraine, now with 90 mins under his belt, many will be expecting him to have bigger impact. Still I dont think he is 100% match fit, last time he played was a month ago.

Will be great to watch classy Pirlo controlling the tempo while Parker runs like a headless chicken all over the place.

Will be close game, I'm going for England win 1-0 or 2-1.

What does 'match fit' mean ?

He wasn't returning from injury to say he's not 100% fit.

Does 'not match fit' mean he has missed a whole month of training and therefore doesn't know the team tactics or the names of the other players in his team ?

Just asking. Match fit is the biggest nonsense term in football tbh.

When you don't play competitive matches for over a month, its obvious player will be rusty and lack match sharpness.

It's not the biggest nonsense term, it is important. Training is very different from actual matches and for someone who watched football for so many years I thought it was obvious.

So whats the difference between match sharpness and the sharpness at training ???

I can understand coming off an injury because your training is hindered.

Intensity wont be the same? Training on small grounds will never be same as playing intense competitive match. Players not playing for long time will be rusty and tbh few English journalists did say this after the second game. It turns out to be they were correct but few also pointed out keeping Rooney match fit for quarters is equally important, so he should start.

If you think player wont lack match fitness/sharpness after not playing for over a month, then fine. Lets agree to disagree. ;)

And why does playing coming from long term injury lack match shareness and fitness? Surely he will have enough training sessions before playing competitive match? So why is it the players takes few games to get back to his full fitness?

Motta's injured? No way.

And Pirlo has one tackle  guess that's not what he is paid for

I'm guessing we see:

Buffon
Abate Bonucci Barzagli Balzaretti
Marchisio Pirlo De Rossi
Nocerino
Cassano Balotelli

I do not want to see Montolivo. He doesn't have enough quality to cut it at this level.

Maggio was pretty much useless the first two games as well.

Giovinco idea is interesting, but it will never happen

Kinda have mixed feelings.

As an Inter fan cant see a reason to support Italy seeing that there are no Inter players there.

But I also still love Motta. and though I hate the guy but still proud that Balo is an original pure Inter project. also I have a soft spot for Di Natalie and Cassano. not to mention that Im sympathizing with our Italian friends on the forum.

But again I think If Italy won it the jube and bilan fans will due credit to there players and that there was no Inter as a part of this.

Still got mixed feelings, but guess for the reasons I metionned I think it`s 51% for the English, 49% for the Italian.

Germany would have wiped the floor with them too. At least we'll get a good game with Italy playing the Germans rather than the English. Anyways the Azzurri deserved to go through. Justice has been served. That being said, Montolivo better not start next game. Jeez, u need to read some more about Inter's history.
Some of inter legends were capitans for the Azzuri, some scored in a world cup final.. one was the goal leader for over 20 years, and yet he still has only 2 goals less than the current goal leader.

Meazza.. Facchetti.. Mezzola.. rings a bell?
Just because the current Inter doesn't have any players in the NT, doesn't mean that Inter is no italian team :serious:

Yes, it was a long ago, but history is saved forever, as the italian squad is always changed, right?
If I would hate the Azzuri now I won't be able to love them when there's some Inter legend playing, so even if I am not so keen about them now I won't go 'n write stuff like fuck Italia

Btw yeah.. they all must be hating on Inter now :lol:
Cassano fault that we didn't want him (even though he said publicly that he dreamed to play for the team he cheered for), Balo and Pirlo faults that we sold 'em... right? come fucking on.. instead of hating on those dudes maybe you should check what lead inter to have no good Italians anymore? For some reason I am thinking It's not the players fault.. for some reason......

Btw, this game just shows how useful players like Park are. In 2009-10 when we played Milan, Park was marking Pirlo and he didn't give even an inch of space, his work rate was top class and it was one of his best performance. Shame England didn't have anyone to mark Pirlo, he had way too much space and time to dictate the game.

Parker was pretty pretty much anonymous, no answers to Pirlo or Montolivo. Their strikers didn't do anything at all. But another reason was the shockingly bad stamina by England. They just couldn't run anymore, see Gerrard having cramps around 60th - 70th min.

That's what happens when you rely on players who are not tactically bright and have to sprint back to cover up the positional fuck up. Parker and Gerrard both are 32 or almost 32 did this whole Euros, so it was not surprising to see them completely exhausted chasing Pirlo's shawdow. They didn't have player who was tactically very disciplined and a player who knows how to cover ground rather than just covering every blade of grass for the sake of it.

To an extent yes, he is 34 and I dont think he will get anymore chances.

More than Lampard, I think they missed players like Carrick and Wilshere and I dont think I would be wrong in saying even Huddlestone.

Anyways for England tactics to work they need Drogba. What a player he was. England do have some tall players who think they are target man, but they are not fit to lace Drogba boots.

It's even more impressive considering the circumstances...Not that it was a shootout to get to the semis but because Montolvio had just missed and Rooney put England in the driver's seat...Pirlo had to convert...Legendary

No doubt, Pirlo is star of Euro 2012, who before tournament could predicted that he would be the best midfielder?

Football world about Pirlo:

After elimination from Euro2012, Redknapp told The Sun:
"We must learn a lesson from this and do our utmost to produce an Andrea Pirlo of our own."
"We must get our kids to play, play, play. Realise it’s not all about being strong, big or fast.
"Look at Pirlo against England — he had no pace, strength and he’s ancient. But what a fabulous display."

"Ragazzi che spettacolo il numero 21..." Alessandro Matri ‏

"Andrea Pirlo-RESPECT!" Edin Džeko ‏

“We couldn’t lose after that chip from Pirlo,” “What a spectacle!” Valentino Rossi

"Yes, for me, Andrea should win the Ballon d'Or. He deserves it. He is the best of them all."
Italy coach Cesare Prandelli throws his weight behind the growing admiration for the former AC Milan man.

"Did you see what Pirlo did? Only a genius has this intuition. Andrea is immense and there are no other adjectives to add."
PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti, a former manager of Pirlo's at Milan, is left speechless by the Panenka-style penalty.

"We did all the things one could possibly do from a professional point of view but it still doesn't change the fact that Andrea Pirlo has the incredible confidence at that level of football to do a Panenka chip over the goalkeeper."
England boss Roy Hodgson admitted that all the planning in the world couldn't prevent the penalty.

"If I had to choose a lasting image from the game I'd say Pirlo's penalty. I'd not seen such a crazy shot as that since the days of Francesco Totti."
Italy captain Daniele De Rossi hailed the penalty, referencing Totti's similar strike against Netherlands at Euro 2000.

"Pirlo. Mamma Mia!"
Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, who is set to join Pirlo next season after agreeing a move to Juventus, brushes up on his Italian while praising the 33-year-old.

"On a pure footballing note Pirlo just put on a pure footballing master class + the penalty was too much."
Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand, left kicking his heels at home by England during the tournament, lauded the masterclass put on by the Italian playmaker.

"Wow. Pirlo is a joke."
Free-agent Michael Owen simply could not believe his eyes.

"What a great penalty from Pirlo – phenomenal."
Barcelona midfielder Xavi, a player that Pirlo is often compared to, was effusive in his praise of the penalty.

"Pirlo is just class."
Spain international Gerard Pique also joined in on the fun.

"A player of another world. It's a player like that who the French team miss"
Former PSG holding man Luis Fernandez, winner of the European Championship with France in 1984, believes Les Bleus are missing a player of Pirlo's quality in the middle of the park at the moment.

"He is simply a world class player, on the top level for years. How he has taken the penalty - that was great class. On Thursday it is not Ozil vs Pirlo, but Germany vs Italy."
Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil was keen to talk up the ability of his opposite number ahead of the two teams' upcoming semi-final clash.

"That was very bold in that situation. When he doesn't score... As a keeper you don't expect such a penalty. That shows how strong his nerves are."
Die Mannschaft goalkeeping coach Andreas Kopke hailed the unpredictable nature of the spot-kick.

"But what class!"
Cesc Fabregas applauded the technique and nerves needed to pull of such a penalty given the context of the situation.

"Pirlo's penalty [is the] moment of Euros so far for me - reminded me of Zidane's pen in World Cup [2006]. Big players at the big moment produce a moment of class!"
Everton utility man Phil Neville called the Pirlo penalty his highlight of Euro 2012 so far, lauding the player's mental strength.

"Pirlo has unbelievable quality and England could not match him or Italy. Pirlo has been fabulous, he controlled and dictated the game and was absolutely masterful. It was a masterclass in technical ability, and Steven Gerrard spent the night chasing Pirlo around."
Never one to hold back with his opinion, Liverpool legend and Match of the Day pundit Alan Hansen complimented Pirlo on his performance against England.
