That's because everyone was so "fast" for opening threads. Close, then re-open, we decided its better that we open only when it's official.

Why did he choose Algeria for senior NT?

He was grown up there, joined Lyon at 13 y'o(?), makes sense.
Good luck. Looks like Mazzarri is trying to pull another Cavani here.

Edit: My bad, he joined Lyon at 16 y'o but played for french youth teams since being 5 y'o.
Still, his home nation is Algeria so it makes sense he'd feel closer to them.

With cavani gone i wouldnt be surprised if we have the highest scoring team in serie a next season.

All top strikers in top leagues score around 8 goals in their first season, and then explode with 20 goals. Icardi and belfodil had 10 ea, and i expect them to get a minimum of 15 ea, with at least one of them reaching 20. Add palacio in the mix as well, and we have a great team.

Napoli had highest amt of goals, and second least amt of goals conceded. I hope we have similar stats.

My question, again, remains intact.

If you want to dismiss a player, do it with some backing. If someone calls you out on it, act like a man and defend your opinion.

But the worst thing you can do is run away crying like "tl;dr!!!!!!11111"

Either state your opinions and engage people in a discussion, or fuck off and dont bother posting. Because doing something in between doesnt work on a discussion forum.

Welcome! :interscarf:

It's always nice to see when the management invests in decent young players. The only thing doubting me is the fact that we only get half of him, since we may have to pay high price if he turns out to be a good acquisition.

Anyway, let's put aside some unnecessary debates before we see him on the field and hope the very best of him :)

.h.
05 Jul 13, 16:27
It looks like we had an option lined up for Handanovic, so its plausible we will have one lined up for Belfodil as well, to be honest.

Im looking forward and with great intrest, how he will handle that presure of "big club"? I was in the stands last home game against Parma, but he dint catch my eye, at least in that game. But still i think he has all the tools to manage in top! I just fear he has too much presure -> high price and those ridiculous Benzema compares :palm:

Same goes with Icardi

Its gona be hard year new manager, new tactics, maybe 7-8 new players and Milito is still injured!!

.h.
05 Jul 13, 16:50
well, as has been stated, the price isnt just the face value.

its coupled with the wages of cassano, so we're probably ACTUALLY paying like 7m for Belfodil (/2 for half) + Cassano.

In the interview he comes across as very humble. He says his main objectives are to progress as a player and to integrate himself within the squad. He emphasises that it's an honour to play alongside payers like Zanetti and Milito.

He is relishing the prospect of playing for such a big club and is particularly looking forward to playing in the Milan derby.

So can him and Icardi play together? They probably won't get a lot of time together this upcoming season with Milito still around and Palacio coming off a great season but what about the future? With that height, I imagine Belfodil is more useful as a true center forward rather than on the winger or a seconda punta. And we already know Icardi is a classic CF.

Besnik
06 Jul 13, 20:49
I'm totally fine with having more competition in attack department.

Though I have to admit that I don't know Belfodil that well but my expectations are always low nowadays considering our ambitious and results in the league, meanwhile Icardi seems a nice prospect and feels nice to have him in the squad.

Like I said, having competition in the team is always nice because it 'somehow' improves a little of players quality and IMO our attack this season will be a lot better than last one though

I won't be overly fussed if Palacio and Milito see more time on the pitch this season than both Icardi and Belfodil. I think it could be a good platform for a transitional period for our forward line.

But if the new lads can provide the pressure to push for the starting spot, it can only be a good thing.

Welcome Ishak! Good luck, you gonna need it! :D

Welcome. I hope he proves that this gamble was a smart move from our incompetent management.
We can only hope for this, especially that he was probably Mazzarri`s request. He has the qualities in theory, my only curiosity is his mental strength. Him and Icardi could secure our future in the forward department for years.

I wonder how much did we pay for him after all? It seems that Cassano was a sepparate deal after all (they decided to face the facts and call it a SELL, since loaning him for 1 year of his remaining contract would have been more or less the same thing). Some sources (UK LOL) report $13m. But do not mention if for HALF or FULL ownership :D

Parma payed €2.5m for him in 2012, so now evaluating him at 20m would be totally insane (Branca anyone?) :serious: According to transfermarkt his value is €10m - which seems realistic at this point. When you buy a young talented player you're also paying for his potential, hope we didn't double that figure.

We got 50% of him, and we have to probably pay more than 1st agreed, since Silvestre is not willing to join Parma :palm:
Hopefully we have established a fixed sum for the rest of 50%, because after he explodes we could be ripped off by Parma a la Giovinco deal.

It also seems that he will wear #18 shirt (left vacant by Rocchi) which I'm totally fine with. I'm sure elder INTER fans remember that great bomber wearing #1+8 :datass:

.h.
08 Jul 13, 08:25
the difference between the sale, and the loan, of cassano is quite a lot, though

probably a few million to book value. loan of cassano + release means we pay his wages + amortization next season. Selling him means we probably break even on his book value and save on his wages. It probably makes like 7.5m difference to our books.

If I were Mazzarri, I'd have him and Palacio play a fluid attack, one gets in the box and the other goes wide. I think giving either of them a fixed role would be detrimental to their potential as a duo, keep them moving and drifting.

Alongside Palacio he would obviously take the number 9 role, alongside Milito or Icardi he would play more of a 10.

Yeah, believes aside, I do feel Mazzarri is the type of coach who wouldn't take too kindly to him skipping out on pre-season trainings. Also, it'll put him behind everyone else fitness wise. Sadly Ramadan doesn't end for almost another month.

Shark
13 Jul 13, 17:15
Well at least it's during pre-season and not like in november or something. Besides he might even merit psycholgical benefits. Not a big deal, imo.

Actually its fine, according to Michael's site, he's getting a specialized routine at better times of the day. So good for him, and good for the organization to accommodate him. I'm sure Mazzari won't be furious about it. He probably still attends meetings etc, just doesn't participate in drills and the exercises and does them later after he eats.

Yeah, I believe he takes part in the first session, and only skips the 2nd session.

Its great that we are showing flexibility and respect to different beliefs. But there may be a problem when Ramadan clashes with competitive games, a player who hasn't had food or water all day will struggle to play a competitive game. Like what happened in case of Muntari at Inter.

Anyways, this should not matter much now, coz Ramadan falls in the summer break for the next 5 years at least.

I really don't see how Belfodil reminds you of Quaresma?! Just because someone said he's a difficult character to deal with? Technique - probably Quaresma was way better, but was a lot shorter and different role & position. This guy is our next big guy and this "angry/pissed off on the world" look rather reminds me of Ibra's attitude if resemblance needed. Even if you want to compare their mental attributes, I really see a much stronger Belfodil than Quaresma!!

Damn, wanted Botta to take the 7
Oh common, that's kinda childish. He can wear #69 as long as he does his job properly!

BTW, Botta has much much higher chances to FAIL here due to mentality differences, thus continuing the "dark spell" of our #7 curse. I have faith in Belfodil in overcoming this "bad luck number" matter.

1- The guy is fasting for ramdan
2-Since when does missing a penalty or 2 define a player?

Didn't Martin Palermo or whatever the fuck he was called miss 3 penalties? That didn't stop Maradona from picking him for the national team, and didn't he end up scoring the goal that took them to the world cup in a 1-0 win vs Peru?

Messi missed a penalty against Chelsea, does that mean he's no longer the best player in the world? Robben missed one in the Champions league final, Robben flopped in 2 Champions League finals and a World cup final.. that must mean he's a bad player by the logic of the funny sarcastic people in the last page, a bad player who ended up winning the Champions League a year later for Bayern Munich. Ramos missed a penalty in the Champions league semi finals and the confederations cup final.

He missed a penalty against FC ekjlesomeshit in a friendly game where there are no stakes whatsoever. It just means he's a shitty penalty taker and shouldn't take them at any point during inter's season. Missing 2 penalties in the same game is actually worse mentally for the player than missing one penalty today and one later which many people have done. When you're taking the second penalty your mindset is like this ''oh crap what if i miss this penalty too!'' that's unneccesary pressure. Give the guy a break he showed us glimpses of the kind of skill and creativity we need. Mark my words by the end of the season he will be the difference. From what i've seen the guy has it all. If anything, it's Icardi who didn't do jack shit.

Sanogo signed with Arsenal...their only transfer from their $70M war chest

As for Ramadan I don't see anything wrong with the player observing his religious rituals. I understand that as a professional athlete his body is his biggest tool and the clubs biggest asset. However, I think that a players beliefs shouldn't be compromised over what is essentially a game. A game that he gets paid a lot of money to play but a game nonetheless.

Missed penalties during useless preseason games, anime, racism, Ramadan. Just another day at FIF during the summer.

I don't really like the whole Ramadan thing to be honest. It's a bit selfish in a way and not certainly the best way of treating your body which is also your tool in professional sports. I'm glad people at Inter aren't dicks about it but Belfodil should put himself in best possible shape to succeed and do his job the best way he can. By fasting in the middle of the pre-season he isn't doing that.

This is enraging to hear, that someone is telling Belfodil to put the game in front of his own beliefs. It's his religion for heavens sakes, if anything the club should be accommodating to him.

Tbh it's a bit idiotic to say that following Ramadan is selfish if it interferes with his work; I'm sure you would also tell players not to celebrate Christmas if there were to be an important tactical briefing all day on December 24 and 25.

Additionally I don't think it's especially relevant, because footballers like Mesut Özil and Franck Ribéry are muslim and manage to be in good shape in the off-season. But it should be considered when people berate him for his performances.

Understand that's a single friendly match, and it is meaningless; at least now Mazzarri knows for sure Belfodil shouldn't take penalties (even missed one with Parma against Lazio).

Come on guys. We call our club Internazionale, we are "brothers of the world", we want to market our club all over the world... How can we not respect a player's religion? That would be going against what we stand for...

I can expect soul-less clubs like Juve to have an objection to other peoples belief, we at Inter are above such shit.

Ramadan "Doesnt Make Anything", i would keep such opinions to ur self in the future, talk about them with other peoples, friends, etc,

Also "The Wall', doesnt matter if you or anyone likes Ramadan or Not, its always the players decision during this month.

I didnt ask him "not to talk", his first line had nothing to do with this debate or conversation, i told him to keep these opinions to himself and to others elsewhere who share his opinions.

Belfodil with an awesome header goal. I look forward to those and that kind of skill in the future!

Edit: (I was originally joking about the disallowed deflected goal that Guarin booted off his head, but he comes back with a header in the box)

Based on these last two performances, penalty taking aside, I feel that he's probably the most complete forward with have and that he'll surprise a lot of people. Of course we haven't see how he handles pressure, or whether his supposed difficult attitude will show up in the future.

First 30 min, he always in a box, maybe Mazzari give instruction to him to stay at there
good to see that, seems Mazzari wants recall his Killer instinct
after that, he slowly back in his style,, and drop deep to help midfield,,

I've seen him in the pre-season ,, he likes to move a lot and go wide ,, he's not fast but he has a great acceleration and that's important ,,he has good dribbling skills and great in the air
he'll be a great prospect for the future and I expect him to score +10 this year

Wouldn't be surprised to see Belfodil outperform Icardi this season. He seems to have an insane drive right now that he wants to be the starter and it really shows.

Same here. Many expect miracles from Icardi and Ishak is already labeled as shit (by many) and flop. I think he will surprise many, including me tbh.
