Belgium #1

Can’t see England not making it but Panama being this years Costa Rica would be awesoem. They just don’t have the players.

I think this will be the most boring group.

Belgium, considering the players they have, don't play all that well, while I don't see England entertaining after looking at their squad for the World Cup.

If you can't get past Panama or Tunisia parking the bus, then you really don't deserve to be a top team. Teams started parking the bus when strikers lost their individual skills, and started relying on very specific systems to produce.

Even 12 years back, parking the bus against Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Adriano, Kaka would have gotten you nowhere. I get that teams move towards what's more efficient, and producing system players is more efficient, but you can't blame smaller teams for taking advantage of that.

No. English and all British players all suck no matter what they do. They are good for nothing. It's nature that does the job for them.

Bale for example. He is a terrible player. His bicycle kick goal against Liverpool is actually nothing impressive. He only jumped like an idiot, got his foot to slightly touch the ball, and the wind did the rest. It is a skill that even a 3-year old kid trying to learn football can do, as long as the wind is on your side.

The same goes for Kane. He barely moves. All the goals that he has scored in his career so far is due to the wind, moving his body against his own will and helping the trajectory of the ball.

In conclusion, all English and British players suck no matter what. Why? Because they are British and they can't be good, right?

brehme1989
19 Jun 18, 19:10
And how can anybody complain about him scoring 2 tap-ins when other england players missed like 5 tap-ins. Kane delivered. And the second goal wasn't that easy.

Those other England players were Sterling and Lingard. Not really players.

Both goals were easy, no one was even marking him. The defender had three players to mark and he tripped before they even moved in the first goal  And in the second goal his man marker forgot he was supposed to play football at that time. Made Roberto Carlos vs Henry in 2006 look like great defending. Also, GK didn't move (That seems to be a thing here  )

brehme1989

A) You speak only for yourself. Whether some people agree with you does not make that a total outcome. Pretending to speak on behalf of a population is pompous and stupid.

B) I don't care. Also, it shows what kind of a person someone is when the priority is whether others agree with them instead of being on the right side.

C) There is no side. There is what it is and what is not. Both goals had horrendous defending and Kane didn't really do much to evade a defender that wasn't there. Compare how he moves to how Icardi moves and it's like telling a cow to slither next to a snake.

monster09
20 Jun 18, 08:24
What a player Kane is, he has no weakness to his game at all. Can score almost every kind of goal, (headers, right foot, left foot, from outside the box) and his overall game and work rate is good too.

Shame he signed 6 years contract at Spurs. 135 goals in last 4 seasons for Spurs, 15 goals in 25 games for England and also 9 goals in 10 CL games.

Exactly!!
They both are world class CFs with slightly different playing style and different strengths, wether you think one or the other is better is mostly down to personal preferences and not due to quality differences in the players.

To claim that one is vastly superior to the other is just plain stupid imho.

I hate it how people would rather see a player fail instead of enjoying watching a great player play every week. I love football, I appreciate it, so naturally I give props to players like Cou, Neymar, Messi, CR7, Kane, Dybala, Isco, .... that still make this game interesting to me.

According to google, England are playing a 3142 formation:

Walker - Stones - Maguire
Henderson
Trippier - Young - Loftus Cheek - Lingard
Sterling - Kane

So they've got: 2 RB's playing as CB and RM, a CM playing as lone DM, a LB playing as CM, a forward playing as LM and a LM playing as forward :einstein:

Who am I to judge though? England are playing joga bonito against a footballing, hat-making powerhouse.

Maybe we should copy this amazing tactic:

D'Ambrosio - Skriniar - Miranda

Vrsaljko - Asamoah - Nainggolan - Martinez
Perisic - Icardi

Walker - Stones - Maguire
Henderson
Trippier - Young - Loftus Cheek - Lingard
Sterling - Kane

So they've got: 2 RB's playing as CB and RM, a CM playing as lone DM, a LB playing as CM, a forward playing as LM and a LM playing as forward :einstein:

Who am I to judge though? England are playing joga bonito against a footballing, hat-making powerhouse.

Maybe we should copy this amazing tactic:

D'Ambrosio - Skriniar - Miranda
Vecino
Vrsaljko - Asamoah - Nainggolan - Martinez
Perisic - Icardi

:einstein:

Young is playing as LWB, Lingard as attacking mid. Only player playing out of position is Walker.

OK so England only need a draw v Belgium to win the group, if they keep this up. But what if they get scored against now and end up with goal difference +6, like Belgium, and then draw against Belgium? When g/d is the same and the result between the two is also the same, what's gonna determine who wins the group then? Will they just immediately move on to PK's? Anyone know this?

I wouldn't mind a few more African countries in the mould of Ghana and Ivory Coast (back when they had their golden generation, so to speak - although they never did much). At least they come to play football typically while most of the CONCACAF ones I can see just going to defend with 10 men (Panama, Canada, etc.)

So if Brazil finishes 1st in their group and Germany 2nd in theirs, whoever finishes 2nd in this group will avoid both - and face (most likely) Mexico/Switzerland.

Belgium/England currently have the same number of points, goals scored, and goals scored against. I look forward to their game where each team tries to pick up as many yellows to finish second and avoid Brazil/Germany. Hopefully another Netherlands/Portugal lol.

While Colombia is probably considerably easier to defeat than Japan, the team who does so will likely face Brazil next, making that route a lot less appealing

Belgium did the right thing. At first sight it does look like the other bracket is stacked but in reality, it doesn't make that much of a difference. I would give a prolonged explanation but i doubt it matters. Basically, they're both guarenteed to play two top teams in the semi final and final if they get there. The only difference is Belgium have an easy round of 16 game and England will have an easy quarter final game only if they get past a very strong Colombia side that only lost the opening fixture because they had to play with 10 men the entire game.

England will choke with Colombia so bad, lol

England usually plays without any care when it's not against a side they fear (Brazil, Germany, France, Italy etc), so I'm more worried that Colombia might choke. If Colombia does not choke, it should be an easy 3-0 win for them. England is shite but this blissful unawareness of who they're facing is usually working in their favour against teams that should be able to beat them. Not so good against teams they should be able to beat (eg. Tunisia).
