People still debating that Sneijer deserved THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD?!! :P Sneijder was great last year but he wasn't the best player in the world last year and he ISN'T! Inter won last year titles as a team and Sneijder was an integral part of it. He deserved to be ahead of Iniesta in the first 3 players last year, but not to BE the best!

Playing at quite possibly the most dominant club in history, perhaps?

Plus, he wasn't a purchase for immediate dividends but longterm...The mere fact that a player outside of Spain as well as outside of the Barca system has been able to almost seamlessly transition into Barca's midfield?...Nothing short of extraordinary actually

The fan base for him is growing everyday and even going by his quotes to the Dutch press ahead of their friendly yesterday, he was over the moon about his first month at the club

He's already been giving terrific minutes off the bench & wait until late next season when he really gels with his teammates

Fantastic purchase really and at €3 million??

Messi was on fire last year. Just because he wasn't good for two matches in CL and was misused by a stupid coach in WC dosen't make him an unworthy player to win the price. Sneijder had a great season and WC. So did Robben. Many even believe Robben was Holland's best player in the WC, ahead of Sneijder. Saying Sneijder led Inter and Holland to glories is ridiculous. Inter won last year as a unit. JC, Lucio, Samuel, Maicon, Milito, Cambiasso and many other share the same credit for Inter's success as much as Sneijder. Sneijder was great, but Ballon D'or was just too great for him.

"JUVE, WE COME TO PUT MORE PRESSURE ON MILAN"

"We are champions then at the end we will see who takes the Scudetto. I am fine now."

Amsterdam - Yolanthe is working in Montevideo and did not see the goal, well, maybe she saw it on Youtube. "Beautiful, eh? Scoring is always a great thing, but the goal against Austria was one of the better ones." The Juve supporters may have seen it in the highlights on televisions of Wednesday's international break, and they might see an Inter player who is an important part of the rebirth of Inter and maybe a comeback on Milan. Wesley Sneijder chuckles. "I'm used to play against Van Bommel. He was with Bayern in the Champions League final, no?" He was in a short sleep, but now he has awaken after 50 days of lethargy and dislikes. "I don't want to talk about the Golden Ball. I do not care." The disappointment was strong, however, Wesley is back on his feet. He came back strong like a storm: playing and scoring. His young brother, Rodney, has just signed his first professional contract with Ajax. The moment is good to deal with Juve.

How do you feel, Wesley?
"Now I am just fine. I'm not far from 100 percent. I'm really ready. With the Netherlands, I scored a great goal but the most important thing was that I played without problems. An important test for Sunday. I will be there."

And there is Juve-Inter.
"It is a very important game for us and very difficult."

Beating Juve is fundamental for the Scudetto?
"If we continue to win then we would put a lot of pressure on Milan and Napoli which is what we want to do. And in the end we will see who takes the title. We are still the champions."

Back to the Champions League, for your team it is a replica of the final.
"With Bayern, it will be a very complicated game but we are ready. We are missing Milito, Samuel, Lucio but we have other quality. We now have good players like Kharja and Pazzini. Pazzini can not play in the Champions League but he has been important in the league for us."

You will not see Van Bommel in the Champions League but in the league yes.
"Eh, I think we have met so many times, including the final."

Ibrahimovic said that he is tired.
"Thank goodness."

Your impression of Ibra?
"He is a phenomenon. I like it if he is rested for a couple of games."

From a former Inter player to a former Milan player: how do you like working with Leonardo?
"He is very pleasant. He is a good coach and a nice person. He knows exactly how to manage this team just like Mourinho. No one is equal to another, but when Leo came to Inter, we were all happy."

In an interview with Marca, Benitez attacked the Inter medial staff.
"It is always easy to complain after you're gone and it is not nice to do so. It was a difficult time for Benitez and for us. But he can't really blame the medical staff and Moratti gave us all the opportunity to work for Inter."

==========

A short interview but I figure I post it anyway.

I agree that Messi was on fire last season. But Sneijder was great all season long.He was on fire when his teams needed him most(CL Knockout phase and WC matches including final). If Ballon D'or is awarded for the best perfomer and not the most talented player..then either Wes or Xavi deserves it.But past is past and this award doesnt mean much now.i would say that Wesley Sneijder was too great for Ballon D'or

That's your opinion. For me if Sneijder was going to win it then it was a joke. He wasn't that great to be named the BEST in the world. Unless they had to change his name to Wesley Internazionale! As I said before Sneijder was great for last year success, but neither of Lucio, JC, Samuel, Maicon and Milito were anything less than him too. Inter won because the team was a unit, not that a single player led us through in every match.

Sneijder hits out at Benitez

Inter's chief playmaker Wesley Sneijder has criticised Rafael Benitez for trying to change his position.

Benitez was sacked in December after demanding that the club make four or five new signings.

He has since complained about not being able to control some of his players or the club's medical staff.

Interviewed by Algemeen Dagblad, Sneijder said: “I got frustrated under Benitez… He wanted me to play as a striker.

“Leonardo works in the same way that Jose Mourinho did. I feel better now.”

Inter have won eight of their 10 games since Benitez was dismissed.

Sneijder has also scored in his last three matches for club and country.

Sneijder warned AC Milan: "Fear this Inter"

In an interview with Tuttosport , Wesley Sneijder spoke of last season, glorious for him and Inter, the game with Juventus, Milan and on the comeback: "After a season like last year at some point I felt really tired , it was as if my body had said stop. But when I returned a few days ago I heard about your new position and eager to win. I hope that the problems that I had to overcome them Milito, will be back stronger than before. "

Tomorrow, the challenge for Juventus, in Turin, the first for him: "It 's a game that gives me great office. Last year I could not play in Turin. Leonardo? Count much in the psychological aspect of a team. Mourinho was at the top from this point of view. Leo has, however, the same way of thinking, unable to understand what players want, we are pleased with his presence. With Benitez was not easy to find a meeting point in this respect. "

AC Milan is close, when it is taken? Wes felt the Rossoneri: "If I were them I'd be afraid of these interactions, we came back they were last year. The Ballon d'Or? As soon as I knew not to be among the three finalists I just tried to erase the disappointment, and there are failed.'d raise more trophies this season. Last year nobody would have thought our treble . "

With you back to top form, they should fear us even more ;)

There's nothing wrong with his new position. The bad passing, dribbling and shooting at the sky have nothing to do with his position. I'm not saying he ain't a great player, but he's goddamn inconsistent and when we really need his shooting he's aiming at the moon.

Yes his left isn't as good as his right, but it's more than competent. You watch Sneijder play and compare him to players who are ridiculously reliant on one foot, it alleviates awkwardness in so many situations.

I know he's Juvescum but one of my favourite players to watch in Serie A and international football was Nedved for this very reason. Brilliant at his peak.

I wouldn't sell him for that kind of money. He's the most skilled player from our squad, if anything, we should build a team around him, not vice-versa.

Arsenal are holding out for 50m for Fabregas, but why bother? he's spanish [most probably will flop in Serie A] and he wants Barca.
So talks about selling Sneijder either make me laugh or piss me off! He's the heart of our team and he shouldn't be sold. He IS OUR 100m player. I don't want Sneijder to be sold no matter who comes in. PERIOD. Wes is happy here, we don't need to stirr up shit because of a stupid english paper.
Besides why would he go there?! To see Berba ruin the chances he creates?! They are playing 4-4-2 flat, not very suitable for him. Here he found a family and everybody loves him. Milano is fashion City, suits him much better, better weather. Hopefully after we knock out Man Utd, things will settle down.

I wouldn't swap Sneijder for Rooney. Sneijder is a very creative player and he still has room to improve look how Sneijder lead Inter defeated Munich. It was his long pass to Eto'o lead to the goal. He scored 1 goal, assited 1 goal, and created the play for 3 more goals out of the last 9 goals for Netherland. Rooney?? haven't heard him in quite a while. Man Utd is obviously desperate for someone like Wes as Nani has not proved to be a world class.

I wanna see Sneijder leaving Inter after 4-5 years and return to Ajax.

He would return to Holland at some stage and Ajax would be his first choice to end his career.

Why the hell would you want him to leave Inter at all? In 4 years he will be 30 years old. That's pretty much his peak. He won't be some old fuck playing one last farewell season back at home like Ronaldo or a marquee player in some shitty league like Juninho, provided nothing drastic happens, he will still be one of the best midfielders in the world. So most Inter fans would want him, and due to us likely being very attached to him if he's still here in 5 years, we would want him to retire with us.

Also, if he did go back to Holland, would he be more likely to join Ajax or Utrecht?

Well, I wasn't sure about his age and was lazy to even check it out. So, I assumed he was 28. Anyway, I never wanted him to leave Inter but I think I read it somewhere that he mentioned he would go back to Netherland to end his career. I also assumed that he would prefer Ajax but we never know. I just made an assumptions there that he would stick to Inter until mid 30s then go back to Holland.

Yes, the easiest way to take Sneijder off a game is to piss him off.

when was sneijder ever calm? he has always been like this

imo he was the same old sneijder but the strikers had no room to move so there was no one he can pass to

Sorry dude, but I don't recall him acting so furious as he did today (and in countless other situations this season), never pressurized referees that much, and especially never used to yell at teammates that much... I'm pretty sure of it.

Last season, he did his "talking" more by his actual play.

Obviously Sneijder was so much in frustration today. Today was his 5th decisive matches in a row in 2 weeks time. If he didn't play full vs Hungary few days ago, he would probably perform better. He has played 1 more matches than most of the team. He deserved a bit of a break but we don't have anyone to replace him.

sorry...but this guy was never ever calm. its a known fact that the easiest way to put him of his game is to keep snapping at him, and van bommel did it perfectly!

maybe Wes is a one-season-wonder. at real, he had a good 1st season, and a shitty second. at Inter, he had a great 1st season, and a shitty second again. I say if manure gives a good offer, let him go. coupled with Maicon, Milito and Deki (and of course Pandev and the moron duo: chivu and hauntari)

40m£ is definitely not enough for him :rollani:.... mr.blast away at everything with your eyes closed, regardless if your teammates is in a good position.

Fun statistic, Sneijder has made no less than 137 shots this season in serie a + cl, yes 137, scoring just 6 goals = a goal pr 23~ shots. He has made the most shots of any player in the team, eto'o is second with 134 shots...

really let us down this season, i think everyone in general struggled to be anything close to what they were last season, but snjieder especially was rarely a factor for most of the season for someone who's job is to control the midfield

even his free kicks and corners have been terrible, hopefully he can end the last few weeks of serie A on a high note

In other words not under Leo.

Sneijder was terrible tonight but so was everyone else on the team. Inter need to buy another creative mid to help out Sneijder.

Ed.
14 Apr 11, 00:53
I think we can't blame Sneijder. When was the last time he missed an Inter match? He is the only creative midfield we have. He has to deal with all competitions and also the national team. How many games has he played in the last 2 years? He has no cover atm. Yes, Coutinho has a good talent but Coutinho is still a kid. He wouldn't be able to handle the pressure yet.

14 Apr 11, 01:17
With all respect to sneijder, I think he has been shadow of himself compared to last season. I think he has scored only 1 goal from freekicks. Last season was a different story.

It's true that he is the only forward going creative midfielder that we have, but almost every his first touches are towards our goal. In my opinion we need another sneijder. It would free and help sneijder work when he would have someone to pass to and it would also make us harder to predict.

Fitzy
14 Apr 11, 07:21
I thought he was much better in the second half when we changed formation. I also get the feeling that he's not 100% fit (he had two of those muscle support strips on the back of his legs).

Sneijder is a one dimentional player. Take away his freekicks and passes and he´s just another average player. This season, his assets(freekicks and passes) have not been good and he cant effect the game any more becuase he isnt flexible. Inter needs to get more players who can run at defenses like Eto and who also have a fighting spirit!

Soooooooo Eto'o is also a one dimensional player then right? Take away his goals...and his just another average player.

Walter Samuel is also a one dimensional player. Take away his positioning and tackling ability...and his just another average player.
