Maybe the best addiction during Moratti's era? considering price and the necessity of that kind of player.

I can see us dreaming of getting Higuain :)
but trading him with Quaresma... needs me to dream harder :P

I am wondering if one of the transfer managers in Real Madrid is actually on our payroll

Il Muro
23 Apr 10, 13:01
Well Higuain would be good. He could take on one of the wing forward roles (similar to what Eto'o and Pandev do) and can obviously play upfront aswell. Plus we need more Argies!

what was the nickname we picked for him? Sniper?

cloudq
24 Apr 10, 05:39
i dont know what the obsession of nicknames are

theyre OK if they actually shorten name somewhat, like deki. or fabulous like ibracadabra, or super mario to be turned into cult figures

other nicknames are just plain stupid though (sorry zanetti? the tractor??), seem forced and otherwise dont roll off the tongue very well

and in wesley's case, calling him sneijder is sufficient and apt

Handoyo

Quaresma. He will take everything on his own giving two unbelivably godlike performances against Barcelona scoring goal from free-kick and assisting Eto with a trivela-like pass from our penalty box and against Bayern in Champions League final scoring two well-deserved penalties.

It is belived that Moratti will consider giving him 20milion-per-year contract after granting Inter historical win over Barcelona and Champions league triumph.

Nyall
25 Apr 10, 02:03
I honestly believe that it's mind games. The mere fact that it's on Inter.it makes me lean towards this. When Samuel fucked up his knee and was out for nearly a year, Inter.it didn't put this up so quick. When Maicon messed his teeth, they didn't put it up so quick. Yet they hurriedly put this up. As if they wanted people to know, (Barca maybe?)... I dunno..

This is my hope. With Wesley out and no Deki life becomes much harder but NOT impossible.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was staged. I don't have any inside info, but knowing Jose, it might've been planned all along that Wesley would play only 45 minutes. Then if you can play some mindgames... Jose won't pass up on those opportunities!

I think he could be injured , yes we all hope to see him play but i believe he surely wouldn't play , the same thing happened in the group stage match when we all were hoping it was just a mind game but he was ruled out in the last minute . Any way if Pendev recover he can take over that position therefore we could still defend and use our counter attack to effect .

one day after hes an inter player, he plays a crucial role in inter's 4-0 drubbing of milan.

hes "practically" got converted overnight

Aries
25 Apr 10, 16:43
^Agree, it's really something, he has been very inspirational in the team's morale. I'll also never forget in his first match against AC Milan, he did not know any of his teammates, yet he celebrated all 4 goals as if he had been part of the team a looong time :D

And to think, how in the summer he refused a move here, frequently saying he wanted to fight for his spot at Real, that Inter wasn't a good club, blah blah blah...now look, in his first semis, GUARANTEED for the World Cup, and possibly on the way to winning a treble. He loves it here now :D

Btw, I think 'his injury' is Mourinho at his best for Barcelona. Mourinho simply wants to shake things up so as to still give Guardiola a bit of doubt to our lineup...he will play :)

Raul Duke

It seems that way.
When we first signed him, I thought we got him last moment because we failed to sign Diego, Gourcuff, Deco... getting him at such at such a cheap price as well, I didn't expect him to set our worlds alight like he has. What I'm trying to say is both the fans and Sneijder were pleasantly suprised by how well the move worked out.

Terrible news for Inter, as the test on Wesley Sneijder showed a thigh strain that is likely to rule him out of the trip to Barcelona.

The Dutchman limped off at half-time during Saturday's 3-1 win over Atalanta with a muscular problem.

Today he underwent medical tests and the results were far from reassuring.

“As planned, this afternoon the Inter medical staff conducted a series of tests on Sneijder,” read a statement on the club website.

“The results showed a strain in the left thigh muscle.”

Although there is no word on how long this will keep him out for, it is not a small injury and recovery for Wednesday is extremely difficult.

Football italia said chiellini wouldn't play today but instead he played from the first minute so I would taken their medical analysis as gospel. We have to wait and see. Facts are only inter knows how serious this injury really is. We should know something more tomorrow when the squad is announced.

Oh really!? ...I'm sure he'll arrange for Nitrous to be put in our teams boots so they can run fast against Barca at the Camp Nou ...or..or.. even better: maybe put Dusting Powder in our team's boots so that whenever they run, it'll pour on the pitch and absorb the moisture thus rendering the pitch slow and giving Messi hyper-cramps! the special one knows what to do :D

I agree with this.

In my view Mourinho has grown pretty predictable with his lineup, so much so that it's a safe bet for Guardiola to anticipate the lineup and formation. I think Mourinho is just trying to keep Barcelona on their feet, and hold that air of unpredictability about our starting 11...he's trying to put an air of doubt in Guardiola and is using Sneijder since he's such a huuge aspect of our game and his absence could very much change the way Barcelona must play...

Obviously we have no way of knowing the truth, but I trust Mourinho, and I trust that Wesley will play :)

He said "Guys, I play" before another CL match. It was either before the game at Stamford Bridge or one of the CSKA ties, I can't remember. There were a lot of insecurity about him back then as well.

I'm very sure he'll play. I'd be very surprised (and anxious) if he doesn't play from the start. And if he starts, there was never any stretch of any muscle anywhere anytime.

Yea, as much as the media reports look grim, there is a decent chance that Inter are just playing games with the media/Barca. As someone said before, if he is 60% fit he'll probably start the match. He is absolutely vital to our setup, especially without Deki as a backup.

I just don't feel any conviction behind this Sniejder story. Inter.it is seems to be going WAY out of it's regular operations to let the world know Welsey is injured. I've been frequenting Inter.it since 2003 and never have they so quickly announced an injury to a player or made a follow up of that injury so quickly. I mean Inter.it is so slow, they are always the last place to report completed signings, etc.

It's almost as if they want the world to know Inter will be weaker against Barca and they're trying so hard to do so. Maybe I'm way off here but something tells me Wesley is going to play.

Look how insecure we are when we don't know if our key player will play, or will not play. How do you feel the opponents feel ? ;)

Not to mention, you change the tactic (small details, but still) depending on the players that will play.

Uh yes it does. Because Jose played a super defensive formation in the Coppa Italia that many of the Italian pundits thought was supposed to be our "test" formation for Barca. It even lead to Goal.com exclusively writing that Maicon would start as RWB. That formation was part of Jose's mind games and maybe perhaps this is too. Jose has gone to great lengths before to put off his opponents and in Inter's biggest game in 40 years I don't see why this would be unnecessary?

When you are a top level coach like Mou, each game is like a game of chess. Deception is an important element. On the forum here we are proposing alternate formations to use if Wes is ruled out... Pep's staff is probably doing the same, trying to figure our what tactics Mou will use. If it turns out that Wes plays and we use the exact same formation with Wes included, all that will have been a waste of precious time (for Pep and for us lol). This would give Inter a slight advantage in terms of mentality and preparedness.

CafeCordoba
26 Apr 10, 11:30
What Sneijder brings most is the release of pressure. He can hold the ball, advance with it and deliver to other players with ease. That gives some precious seconds to our team to take a breathe and re-organize themselves. I remember back in November how our team, after stealing the ball lost it almost immediately. That was because our players were unable to withstand the pressure from opponent players.

Of course scoring a goal is important too and Sneijder is one of the most important players for us to make to possible.

there is less pressure, more room for error, and if his ball control allows inter to slow the barca tide, then the longer we hold it off, the better.

FWIW, here's a statistical comparison of Wes and Robben and their replacements at Real. Despite the suspensions and injuries, Wes has actually played more minutes than any of the other three.

I think the only sub will come on is Balotelli. There is no one to replace Motta. Muntari is available but he will ruin the match if he plays.Mariga is good but has no experience in these kind of games.

Are you serious? Sorry man but i'd rather put on an injured Santon than Mario Balotelli. Least Davide would show heart and run.

Madrid fans would finally be happy about this transfer. Eliminating Barca was the reason they gave him to us.

Seriously, he uses twitter and Facebook so openly. Such a cute little kid. He's a father already, right?

He needs to score a goal in Serie A again...iirc his last goal(s) came against Siena.

Seemed a bit nervous against Lazio: every time his teammates lost the ball in attack he would make some kind of a gesture and walked slowly back, without helping the defense. Don't see why he would be nervous when having the season of his dreams though, so I guess it was just a one-time thing.

great assist for walter samuel, who else in our team can make something like that.

Motta maybe? Remember that assist for Eto'o in the coppa? :)

Sneijder is the best though :)

He really is. My main concern is what will we do if Real stops selling us their players? They're bound to notice that everything we take from them turns into gold :(

But the question is which Real player do we need desperately yet? And please, don't mention Gago. :P

Heavens no! ;)
But that's besides the point, the team reaching the CL final cannot be said to desperately need anyone, but of course they have some players that would come in handy, and don't get enough playing time at Real (as mush as I can tell). Van Der Vaart maybe?

He did not train today. So the reports are true. But I hope he can be fit for tomorrow because we really need him. Why this happens before an important match? He was fine against Lazio.

I honestly almost don't want him to play. The way the climate is right now, I'm getting paranoid about Roma trying to hurt players to screw up the CL and Scudetto runs. I want the Coppa, but not as much as the other two.

Udinese deserved to be in this final ahead of Roma. The way they played in the semi-final second leg shows everything. Roma are a bunch of cowards and have a shitty philosophy of scoring an early goal and defending for the rest of the game. That's what they did against Udinese at the Friuli, they defended from the start.

If Wes can't make it for tomorrow then I suggest that he rests and take a full recovery. Pandev can take his role and Balotelli can start as one of the three strikers.

"Last Sunday we played with almost the same team that played against Barcelona," said Mourinho. "We took a risk with Sneijder and he won't play tomorrow. And we have lost Lucio as well. We took risks and played our best team. We're not saving players for the final in Madrid. We have games against Chievo and Siena, they are all important games.

I don't thing this are mind games or whatever Sneijder will not play tomorrow, for sure Mou is not a lier

Sneijder and lucio won't play tomorrow. Serie a and cl are more important, they won't be risked for coppa.

Wes also confirmed it on his facebook account that he is injured.

The only thing that matters is taking the Coppa Italia away from Rome. We have won without Sneijder and Lucio previously, and we will do the same thing tomorrow against those divers.
