If you really like it and it’s on sale for a significant discount, why not? Just buy it. How many watches do you have? Are you like us, needing to sell before you buy?

I have a lunatic friend like that. He has exactly 10 watches and refuses to have any more or less. If he finds a watch he likes, he’ll sell one of the 10 first and only then replace it with the new watch. Cunt is fucked in the head.

I’m in the market for a classic, vintage style leather band watch.

I was initially thinking of getting a fucking Grand Seiko First Model from 1960:

Or a Crown Special, which is essentially an affordable remake. They show up on Japanese auctions periodically for surprisingly low prices depending on condition.

However, I’ve since changed my mind (I think) and now I’m heavily leaning towards the Longines Heritage Flagship.

This is the new model which features a moon phase - which is nice, but completely useless.

The older model has a simple calendar instead of the moon phase:

Price difference is $2000. Don’t think it’s worth it.

Wow. Never seen one with Armenian letters instead of numbers.
My uncle bought that one for my brother, but I don’t like it as much.

I don't recommend getting a moon phase, the novelty lasts probably a month, kinda regret getting a moonphase but i had no choice.

That grand seiko is definitely a thing of beauty, how much will that run you in Australia? I just read that 1960 was the 1st year for Grand Seiko, so definitely a good piece to own.

if we go by the alphabet, 11 and 12 should be ի and Լ.

I think Ի & Լ are 20 & 30 in the ancient pre-Arabic numerals system.

Not sure, but those are 11 and 12 in Armenian alphabet.

So I did some digging. 10 is J and 11 J+A and 12 J+B. But that was even before Arabic numbers took hold in Armenia and Iran. But why now, 1000years after adoption of Arabic numerals? I guess, for the show:)

Speaking of a watch. I got an Apple SE 2, 44 mm watch for my kid. No you tube , face time or tik-tok. Just straight up calls to me and relatives. She was grateful. And not that expensive. 19 dollars a month with unlimited data. stop watch timer for her running and other neat things.
