I'm a big cycling fan, but I'm not too excited about the Tour this year. Too many flat stages, and Team Sky who I'm convinced are doing something dodgy. Contador crashed today and fell on his knee that has caused him issues in the past which is a bit of a worry. I do expect him to be Froome's biggest challenge if he's okay, of course it's weird to be admitting Froome is the Tour favorite considering he had to hold on to team cars to finish the Giro just a few years ago. Team Sky will attempt to make the Tour as boring as possible and will probably succeed in doing so. Too bad Nibali isn't riding as he would at least gain time on them in the descents where Sky tend to struggle. I expect Nairo Quintana to be the dark horse if he can stay upright in his bike, and if team politics allow him to ride his own race.

Yeah you are right. The Tour seem to be a boring one and i hope that Team Sky will fil. Nibali would be my favorite, if he was in The race. He could easily beat Froome. His Giro victory was amazing. Contador's crash will effect him. I just hope he Can Shake it off.

Yeah, he was hardcore juicing a few years back, but so was everyone else. I suspect he's probably on something still, but I think most of the top guys probably are, and it's not the good stuff anymore. What I do know about Contador that from a physical perspective he's an absolute freak. VO2max of about 90 and that's without doping. Whereas Chris Froome who was a complete unknown until a few years ago is now dominating everyone including Contador like they're nothing. Think about that, and also watch the similarity between Team Sky and US postal during the Armstrong era. I know whatever Sky is on that it's a lot better than the rest of the peloton.

Contador is entertaining, and he's not some self-righteous prat like Armstrong was, or like Sky are now. I don't approve of doping, but Its out there and it's almost impossible to get rid of. Plus if you're going to cheat you might as well be entertaining, unlike Sky.

Here is something you might find interesting, an scan from an article from ex Festina(uber doped up team) doctor Antoine Vayer:

Green, riders called "clean" yellow "suspect" riders in the orange "miraculous" and the red "mutants".

ignore the numbers they're just the page in the magazine.

Team Sky are disgusting. I haven't seen doping that obvious in a while.

I don't watch it, but I've taken up road cycling recently. So I do try to keep up to date.

There was an aussie team close...but I think they've dropped back.

It was a couple years ago, but I remember Cadel Evans won this thing which was pretty cool.

Orica Green-edge are the Aussie team you're thinking of, Hal. They're a stage hunting team and not really set up for the overall classification despite holding the yellow jersey for a few days. They've been doing a good job. Media-outlets often seem oblivious to how cycling works and convey things that are not really relevant.

What type of bike did you buy?

Dam Hal, where were you then. When Cadel Evans won the French bike race, it was plastered all over tv and radio for ages. They even gave him a parade through Melbourne.

Fucking Sky still leading. Quintana needs to get his act together on the descents, he can climb like a boss but his racing line on downhills are awful, even I can descend better than that. Maybe in the final week he can breeze past Froome on Alpe d'Huez and take the yellow away from the doper

Quintana is actually a good descender, but he's too light so unless it's extremely technical he struggles.

I agree with the rest though. Fuck Froome. He's ruining this Tour for me. I can't wait for the day he gets caught out.

Anyway, I really wish Nibali was riding. He's rape those sky boys during the descent in the Gap stage in a few days.
