    Alessandro Capello

It's officially been announced that Capello will join the Primavera on a 3 year contract from Bologna. In exchange, we've given half of both Bandini and Romano, and only time will tell how this deal will play out.

So I'm going to use something along the lines of Browha's format to give an introduction to the player.

    Name: Alessandro Capello
Date of Birth: 12/12/95 (17 years old)
    Place of Birth: Bologna, Italy
    Height: 180 cm
    Weight: 74 kg

    Position: CF/CAM (deep playing forward)
    Foot: right
A bit like: Roberto Mancini (though in Allievi, there were also comparisons with Mattia Destro and even Gianfranco Zola)

The players in last season's squad that he's most similar to are Colombi and Garritano.

Capello's already had his debut with the Bologna first team this year in a Coppa Italia match against Livorno, and he has caps for the Italy u-16, u-17, and u-18 NT. He's already turned down a move to Chelsea, and was reportedly on the receiving end of offers from Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, so it's worth noting that big clubs with strong scouting programs have been interested in him.

    Introduction:

Though he clearly has a keen eye for goal, Capello has been more of a trequarista this year, occasionally sporting the number 10 shirt in the Primavera. He was suggested to Inter by the current Italy u-18 NT coach, Alberigo Evani. He absolutely excelled in the Allievi category two years ago, and did pretty well last year considering he's two years younger than most players in the Primavera. He has a very cultured range of passing and decent off-the-ball movement. He has very good technical skills, and some tackling ability (having taken the ball from a defender of the opposition on more than one occasion). One negative thing that I'd say about him is that recently he's been showing a lack of composure in the penalty area, but I think that won't be such a serious problem for him next year. Generally he looks like a great acquisition though.

Well apparently he changed positionally around 2 years ago into a more deep playing forward rather than a central striker (hence the differences in goals coupled with him being an extension of the midfield in the attack), which is why they've compared him to Destro in the past (similar playing style up front).

And there have been strong comparisons made between Capello and Destro in the Italian media.

Capello has joined the team in Pinzolo since Colombi got injured.

Great investment on the kid , being with the 1st team without watching him in our youths first.

They must have seen enough of him to spend so much on the kid in the first place though

    It means nothing....

I bet Mazzarri has never seen him play or even heard of him. We just dont have THAT many strikers, with people like Djumo, Forte, Garritano, etc, all going out on loan.

Capello is an AM, correct? Either way it's good for him. Was hoping Tassi would get the call but I guess he's not ready.

He's a striker. I believe Tassi is injured, anyway?

Seriously, should we just start to assume Tassi is a massive flop?

They got all our hopes up for what?

No. There were some real glimmers of hope when they moved him to the DMC Kovacic regista-style player. He won quite a lot of praises there, to be honest. It's just a bit harder to evaluate as he doesn't get amongst the goals or anything.

Also bear in mind that this is the first time he's playing with his "own" age group - he's always been more advanced until now.

We'll see how the first six months go.

He reminds me of Del Piero with a few things he does. Not saying he'll be that good, but I have high hopes for this guy based on what I saw

Are you discussing his face now? Really?....

Alessandro Capello, 17, signed on a permanent deal for €2.5m (inclusive of the 2 co-ownership deals of Bandini and RomanÚ and the loan of Denis Alibec).
    Welcome young Capello! Good luck!

From the little I have seen him play, I am very impressed. Not been this excited about a primavera kid since.... well, since Bessa.

He has a lot of confidence for someone who young. I hope he gets to play a game or two for the seniors this season, perhaps the coppa, because I have a feeling this kid is going to take his chances...

Agreed. I don't usually buy into the hype for our youngesters, but he definitely looks very promising. I also like his presence on the field.. .he seems really focused.
