For what it was, I thought it was a good episode, a thing we expected (also in the books) how it will end, more or less

Jon Snow doesn't have a life sentence per se tho, he's a full fledged wilding now, a Mance Rayder basically

I still feel the books will do something completely different with how the wall falls, how Jon Snow is resurrected and how they deal with Night's King (or just the Others), because it would be extreme bullshit to just win a battle and that's it. And yeah, no way he can write all this in 2 books. He should just release whatever he has up to this point.

But now I got my confirmation and it makes sense. If we talk book-wise. Show-wise, the writing is made so that even Americans can get what is going on.

All the trouble of suffering Essos, and all the hype for Jon's heritage for naught.

I get it, and wanted the Starks to "win" (if anyone won something in this series), but seriously, it could've been wrapped up in so much less time.

Daenerys didn't have a purpose at all.

Robb could've seized King's Landing after Stannis's defeat at Blackwater, kill all the Lannisters and sit on the damn throne in Season three/A Storm of Swords.

Jon could've been Ned Stark's bastard son for real, get the help from the rest of Westeros to defeat the White Walkers while being a commander of the Watch and that's it.

This was only prolonging the inevitable-the Starks rule Westeros, and the Targaryens and Lannisters are deposed for good. Don't see why we had to suffer so useless plots and waste time only for the sake of some shocking value elements, like the Red Wedding, Cersei blowing up the Sept, Daenerys burning innocents with her dragon, Jon being killed and then rise again, and so on. Because in the end, that's what these events were, had the shocking effect and that's it.

I guess George Martin/D&D saw this as a money milking machine. To think about all the puffing and pretending that this story was so much "different" than the rest.

    Merely ego and vanity.

That was kind of the point. The original Aegon Targaryen was the "Conqueror" that established the Iron Throne, while this one sacrificed himself for the people instead. He didn't care for titles or fame.

GRRM mentioned something like the original Aegon potentially wanted to unite all the kingdoms to fight against the White Walkers, similar to what Jon did.

That ending was absolutely useless. What a terrible terrible season. I feel like going back and watching seasons 1-6 again and just stopping there. So shit. Bran cant tell the future, but answered tyrion by saying why do you think im here, how did he know?? So much bullshit

Jon is not Aegon in the books. If I remember correctly (its been like 8 years since I read the last book), Aegon in the books is Rhaegar's son from his first wife and is very much alive.

Anyways, just watched the final episode, what a complete crock of shit! Now I will have to wait a few decades for that fat fuck (or however gets the licence to finish the story when GRRM dies of old age) to write a proper ending to this story.

Aegon with the golden company isn’t confirmed that his story isn’t bullshit

Jon leaving to live with the wildlings and Danny going evil and dying might happen in the books but in a much more satisfying way
    VAR is some serious Bullshit!

Jon IS Aegon in the books. Watch the Jimmy Kimmel interview. D&D pretty much confirmed this. GRRM gave them rights to the show when they correctly guessed who Jon Snow's real mother was (who they admitted was revealed in the show).

Rhaegar named 2 of his sons Aegon. Rhaegar was obsessed with prophecy so he named both the sons he had with Elia and Lyanna Aegon.

I think anyone who read the books "guessed correctly" who Jon's mother and father were even before the tv series started. These books throw some real surprises, but Jon's real family isn't one of them. Maybe Jon is also called Aegon, I'll give you that.

I don't think the entire final season was shite. I quite liked the two episodes which had wars - the ones with few dialogues. I don't have a problem with Dani becoming the evil she was fighting, my problem is how poorly the transformation has been written and depicted. The dialogues in the final season get progressively worse, very cheesy. If you edit 30 minutes out of the final episode, it will actually get better - thats how poor the writing was.

All in all, this series had like the second most memorable moments in any show after The Wire. Hate it or love it, it's been a part of pop culture since season 2.

Never watched this but the fucking drama and crying some of the fanboys put up since the last couple of episodes aired is probably more entertaining than the series ever was.
Which matches do you feel more, those with Juventus or Milan?
"With Milan, without doubt. And I don't like the Rossoneri fans either because they have a way of behaving, particularly when they win, that I don't appreciate."

    You're lucky you didn't.

To think that Grey Worm had a say in the matters of Jon Snow's fate. Vomiting worthy. Fucking shitshow.

Well, you live by the sword and die by the sword.

It is the fandom and viewership who gives any show its prominence & success. It wouldn't matter how good of a product you make, if there would be no demand. Companies would just cancel them, as there would been no return on their investment.

But its interesting that people sometimes don't see this in the same context as buying a product with your monthly subscription, and expecting a certain quality in return.

What made this tv series so successful? His appeal goes way beyond the public who likes the fantasy movies? Normally I don't give a shit about movies with dragons, princesses, ghost and so on! I didn't read the books and not intend to! But...
I saw every fucking episode! And even the last serie was pretty shit, I loved it!

What made it popular was that it wasn't pure fantasy, at least not at the start. It felt like our history, the dialogues was great, a few of very relatable characters made people care. And then Episode 9 happened and the main character died. Everybody that didn't read the books was immensily shocked. Even some of us that did know what will happen were moved by that. It was done the right way.

Sure, some of the acting was comically bad (Shae, Rose, ..) and the budget wasn't as huge as it was in the later seasons, but it had heart. There was mystery, actions had consequences, there were direwolves and the emotions felt real.

Exactly. I read an article and it said it was more a political movie as a fantasy one.
The characters were great wonderful built and their evolution also. All of them were badasses in their way. One of the sins of the last 2 series were the degradation of characters.

GoT was never really that good to begin with. What made it great was the lore and world building + unpredictability. I feel like everyone had their own theories of what was going to happen, that when it didn't, they got pissed off. It's also the expectations were just way too high.

For this season the execution of it was lackluster in terms of plot but the major points made sense imo.

Define that good. People generally see it up there with Breaking Bad and The Wire etc. Even if it doesn't match those shows it surely isn't inferior to much else. Sopranos is another show widely regarded as being great and that also ended with people hating the ending, yet people still generally view it as one of the better shows ever made.
