    Pedro Delgado

    Pedro Delgado

    Position: AMC
Date of Birth:7-4-97 (Time of writing aged 17)
    Nationality:Portugese

Notes: The only player of a recent Portugal youth squad to be based outside of Portugal, he's heavily chased by City and Chelsea (for example) already. Will be interested to see his impact next year. He looks like he's got great vision, and goalscoring threat.

Sounds like we've got a million good AMCs and strikers at youth level.

We actually sort of do. It's the defense where I start to be worried, we only have a couple of defenders comparable to the strikers and AMCs. The question is of course how they transfer the talent, anyone with a bit of skill can look hot at youth level, but can they develop?

Even in the primavera, we have like 4-5 strikers who could 'make it' potentially.

Interesting load, to be honest, keen to see where it goes.

The other thing of course is that its harder to be a stand out defender in the youth teams. It's easy to track goalscorers, for example. There are a few key ones (Dimarco is the big one), but outside of that I just dont know

From today's training before heading to Brunico : Roberto Mancini’s charges rounded things off with a minimatch, during which 18-year-old Portuguese midfielder Pedro Delgado impressed with a brace

Always good when a youth player scores a brace against our defence

Welcome to Bayer Leverkusen! You will have a bright future under Roger Schmidt. Or youll be loaned out to a Serie B side where youll get no playing time over some old cunt like Stefano Morrone or Andrea Luci and end up being released and plying your trade in the Portuguese fourth division. Eventually youll throw away all your ambitions, spending your life in bars drinking your failures away and telling yourself over and over again what a terrible decision it was to come to Inter. All the best!

Apparently he had a lot of offers to sign for other clubs at the end of his contract (next year) but his agent wanted to make sure Inter got something in return for the investment in him

Pedulla also reports Benfica put in a €45m release clause and that he'll be promoted to their first team in January, which shows they have high hopes for him.

This is probably pretty shrewd business from us to be honest. I don't rate the kid at all, but hopefully he can go back to Portugal and raise his profile. He always seemed pretty highly rated as far as the teams he was linked to so who knows, that realse clause plus playing for Benfica might dupe somebody into it.

I never saw him do anything special but he's played a lot for Portugal's youth teams and ours, I wouldn't bet against him. Good piece of business from us either way if the alternative was losing him for free next season.

I don't recall hearing or reading anything about him joining our first team. Only for the B team.

Every time I watched him play I thought we had a Guarin-like player in the making! It could be an extension of me being an Inter fan though, writing off young players too soon.

Benfica announced that negotiations fell through:

"O Sport Lisboa e Benfica esclarece que cessou as negociações e desinteressou-se da contratação do futebolista Pedro Delgado, face a exigências absurdas de última hora por parte do atleta."

In english, "Sport Lisboa e Benfica has terminated negotiations and lost interest in signing the footballer Pedro Delgado, due to absurd last minute demands from the athlete."

    You can keep him.
