    Hervé Revelli
Date of birth: 5 May 1946
    National team: France
    Clubs: AS Saint-Etienne, OGC Nice

A 30-times capped French international centre-forward, Revelli possessed a creditable scoring record despite playing in an unsuccessful period for Les Bleus. Noted as being a fierce competitor, he was excellent on the ball and clever in front of goal. He began his international career aged 20 directly after France's disappointing 1966 FIFA World Cup, and just as he was establishing himself in the Saint-Etienne first team. Playing in a France side which included his brother Patrick, Revelli recorded virtually a goal every other match for his country, hitting hat-tricks against Norway and a CONCACAF selection. On the domestic front, Revelli won seven French league championships with Saint-Etienne, and was also a five-times winner of the Coupe de la France. He appeared in the 1975/76 European Champion Clubs' Cup final for Les Stefanois, which they lost 1-0 against FC Bayern München and was twice top scorer in France, scoring 31 goals during the 1966/67 and 28 in 1969/70.

Although Liverpool have won their fair share of European competitions - four European Cups and three UEFA Cups - their first appearance in a UEFA final ended in defeat in 1966. The Reds' only appearance in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final came on 5 May 1966 when two goals from two defenders - Siegfried Held (62 minutes) and Reinhard Libuda (109) - ensured a 2-1 extra-time victory for Dortmund, a result which gave the German side their first European trophy. Roger Hunt scored Liverpool's goal after 68 minutes.

RSC Anderlecht 4-2 West Ham United FC
    5 May 1976

The first episode of a three-part series for Anderlecht - then RSC Anderlechtois - in the Cup Winners' Cup final began in victorious fashion on 5 May 1976 when, in front of their home fans, they defeated West Ham United FC 4-2. Two goals apiece from Rob Rensenbrink (42 and 73), Franky Van Der Elst (48 and 87) provided the basis of the success, although the Hammers had taken the lead through Patrick Holland (28) and levelled the game at 2-2 through Keith Robson (68). But the Brussels-based club were not to be denied a first European success for a Belgian team. Anderlecht would lose 2-0 to Hamburger SV in the 1976/77 final but would regain the trophy the following season, defeating FK Austria Wien 4-0.

Sorry for this, but it's a part of our history, and for me a reason why I love Inter even more :cry2: :cry2: :cry2:

    * Internazioale lose Lo scudetto at Rome to Lazio on 05/05/02

MILAN – The match Lazio-Inter ended with the result of 4-2.
Inter had a good start thanks to Christian Vieri, who at minute 12, scored from close range. It didn’t take too long for Lazio to react: at minute 19, Fiore assisted Poborsky, who tied the encounter. At minute 24, Luigi Di Biagio headed a corner past Peruzzi. Five minutes after, excellent Recoba run for over fifty meters and was only stopped by Angelo Peruzzi. One minute before the end, and after a defense error, Poborsky scored his second goal. So first half ended with the result of 2-2.
During second half, nerazzurri couldn’t manage Lazio pressure. At minute 55, former Inter player Simeone scored the third goal for Lazio. At minute 70, Inzaghi got another chance to beat Toldo, but Cordoba could stop him. At minute 77, Cesar assisted Inzaghi who this time scored the fourth and definitive goal of the game.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
President Massimo Moratti has commented Inter's game against Lazio: "Inter disappointed me, above all during the second half. It's a sad day. However I believe it's unfair to miss the scudetto like this, but today we deserved this defeat. I'm also sorry for the players, but I guess they could have done it better."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the end of the match Lazio-Inter, Cuper has declared: "It's been a pity, because we had the possibility to reach something important. Unfortunately we were unable to do it. I'm very sorry for the president. Such a day will always be remembered."
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MILAN - (ANSA) ''We didn't lose the league title today, we lost it at home against Atalanta," said Stephane Dalmat after yesterday's match at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
The 4-2 defeat by Lazio was difficult to digest for the French midfielder. "I don't understand how it was possible to lose in this manner," he added.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAO PAOLO - (ANSA) Ronaldo appeared on Brazil's main news programme last night and stated that his mind is firmly set on avenging France's victory in the 1998 World Cup final.

Inter ace Ronaldo became the first non-journalist to sit beside the two presenters of the eight o'clock edition of TV Globo's 'Jornal Nacional'.

The first question was about the tears shed after the match against Lazio. "I wept because of the defeat and it hurts even more because we had the title within our reach," said Ronaldo. "We had played well during the season and in the last match we played very badly."
