    Thohir's New Model

    Repost from here

I’m going to explore a little bit on Thohir’s apparent new model for our youth team graduates, which I do approve of.

Erick Thohir has implemented a new youth model at Inter

It is starting to look apparent, through the transfers of Simon Benedetti and Marco Benassi, what his intentions are for youth team graduates. This is what I’m referring to, as his “new model” – it’s nothing completely first team related, for example, but our treatment of youth graduates.

Everyone knows I disapprove of how some of our youth graduates are treated – with people like Aiman Napoli and Andrea Mei, despite clearly not being good enough, being kept on at the club until aged 24 – costing the club money and ruining their chances for a real professional football career. Whilst these players themselves probably would not have benefitted from Thohir’s new model, they would most probably have been cut from the team a bit more ruthlessly at an earlier stage.

A youth program is about focusing your efforts on developing the best handful of players, and not wasting your time on the other ones who aren’t going to make the grade. Unfortunately the approach in recent years at Inter was just to keep them all on where possible and try to best develop them.
Simone Benedetti, part of Erick Thohir's new model

Details will probably be emerging on the Benassi and Benedetti transfers for some time, but if we assume what the media has reported so far to be true, then let’s start with that as a basis.
Marco Benassi, part of Erick Thohir's new model

Benassi moves on loan to Torino with right of redemption for a total of about 2 million euros. Benedetti moves to Cagliari for about 1 million euros. These valuations seem cheap to me – don’t you agree? Of course, this is not through coincidence. We paid 2 million euros for half of Benedetti in 2010 when he originally signed for us, and he’s performed quite well in Serie B in the 3 seasons he’s been on loan there since. Similarly Benassi, I believe we paid 1.6 million euros for half of him in Jan last year when he first burst onto the scene for us. His strengths in Serie A would have only served to increase his valuation.

It isn’t that we are selling these players on the cheap – it is the concession from Inter for retaining right-to-buy clauses in their future. Fair valuation for these players is probably more like 3-4mil, and 6 mil. So we’re selling them at quite substantial discounts – but the point of that discount is to retain the right to re-purchase in future. I’m going to assume, given the size of the discounts, that the right to re-purchase must be for a few seasons at least, rather than just next summer.

If our model is to monetise youth players with a view to their long term development, and have a right of repurchase, then I’m very keen on it. It’s barely different to a co-ownership situation – except we have less influence over the player, and where he plays etc. But fundamentally, we can bring him back (easily).

The question borne out of this, though, is whether our right to re-purchase is at a fixed price or not. If we have the right of refusal – like we did with Balotelli – but including no set price (i.e. we just have to match whatever else anyone is willing to offer) then that is clearly not entirely worth the discount. If, on the other hand, we have set prices (i.e. 2.5m for Benassi next year, 3m the year after, etc) then I’m much more interested, and the discount essentially becomes worthwhile.

Either way, it’s interesting to see this in action, and I look forward to seeing any other players that will be effected by this.

My hope would be that Longo, and maybe Bessa, go out on a similar note too. I would be very upset if we sold Duncan without a similar clause, as well.

I'm just inferring from our dealings with Benedetti and Benassi. I dont know if the club have said at any point that there is an official new model or anything, but rather, we are definitely changing the way we are doing our youth transfer dealings

You still don't get it do you, he could spend his cash but we would get penalized like PSG and City. ET wants to play by the rules and make Inter healthy financially with out him spending like crazy but rather the club auto financing itself. Which is much much better on the long run and what FFP is about.
And if he had no money he wouldn't pay MM's debts.

how exactly healthy? we have 15 players on contract, and they are mediocre and we are looking to sell them

also what debts did he pay? hahahah

he couldnt even finance 2 millions for his medias, he had to take a loan

So what if he takes loans he still needs to pay them just over more time not all at once. That's sounds smart if anything.

Dude, the debt refinancing deal Thohir did with Goldman Sachs has brought a lot of financial credibility to Inter as a company. It is a BIG deal.

And whether you like it or not, those days are over when a sugardaddy threw away his money to buy top players with no regards to the financial situation of the club. And I am glad those days are finally over at Inter too, its not a sustainable model.

So far, Thohir is doing all the right things, financially speaking.... lets hope he continues on this path.

watching you two fight is like a permanent reminder that love is not eternal

    On a more serious note

Being wealthy != having a shitload of cash in your bank account. You'd have to be a cunt to have your money in the bank - every day your money is in the bank is another day you LOSE money (interest rates never match inflation)

So that means Thohir probably has most of his money in his company. Why the fuck would he sell up 200m in his company to cover Inter? He can loan that shit instead. Yeah, we're paying some interest rate on the loan that we have - but he's expecting his company to go up in the next few years. If you pay 10% interest but you think you'll make 20% by being invested in the company, you're a retard to sell that company to cover the loan.

    Anyway

Thohir CANT sink money into Inter -we're already pretty much foul of FFP, we need budget neutrality and profit ideally. Him sinking in more money would just be a disaster. What we need is a businessman, who can help to reduce costs, increase revenues, and bring about some profit at Inter for once.

it is a big deal, we will be screwed because of it, u love a bank loan at first and ull hate it later. Even arsenal coulf not pay it without big purchases, when we pay tthat loan deal we will left with no stadium, this is the same debt moratti had i cant fucking see how u could be optimistic about this.

I dontt give a rats ass about profit even with ffp we can make losses, we just make retarded losses, we got off our books 40 m and we still cant afford shit. the interest will bite us in the ass, just look what it did to arsenal, they were at least investing it on a stadium.

the interest is removed from Inter, because its through a holding company Inter Media Communications I believe.

The loan we took out was needed to 'complete' the purchase, they were previously bank loans secured against Moratti's assets, the loans Thohir took out was part of the purchase deal and now Moratti's assets are freed up, and the security is this Inter Media Communications.

Thohir's already done a pretty good job increasing sponsorship revenue for example, let's wait and see..

honestly,t his is where rich people make their money. they know how to borrow money tactically when they need it. if you think alot of wealthy people make their money just by investing smart, you're wrong. its about taking additional risk (i.e. like this) when the timing is right. Someone else is paying for you to grow your company beyond your own means

    ...

Our revenue has already increased something like 20 million euros, maybe more (hard to have figures) because of Thohir's new sponsorship agreements, and renewing old ones.

The whole POINT is that he CANT invest. It's been obvious from the start, and if you look back at some of my previous posts before Thohir even became Inter owner, I and many others said it at the time.

Thohir cant put any additional pennies into this club. He simply cant. But what he can do is run it like a successful business. And use that to save the club.

"save the club" ? also show me proof that the revenuue has increased by 20 m.

and save me t he he cant invest crap in the club , the point is he couldnt pay for the fucking club without loans. and the whole point of investing is that of raising revenue, not having your team with 15 players on roster and still looking to sell. this is a fuucking joke

the point no one in the fucking world would buy a club for 250 million euros in cash, short of being arabian. You realise Thohir is a millionaire, right, not a multi-billionaire like Abramovic?

Our sponsorship deals he's been signing the last few months. We renewed with Nike or someone which doubled our income there, then there were a few more peripheral ones too. If you've been following our club news at all you'd know that.

If you include M'Vila, MBaye, and Vidic, we're already at like 20 players on the roster. If we get Rolando, too, that goes up to 21. We're not far away from an ideal squad of 25.

    You're being a drama queen.

He's looking to sell shit players who we all want to go (Alvarz, Guarin).

The sad FACT of the matter is that Inter runs at a 80 million euro loss per season. It's about time someone fixed it. Next year that will be more like 30 million - with contract expirations and sponsorship deals - which is still not acceptable. If we can offload Alvarez+Guarin that's the 30 million right there.

compare our deal with nike and compare it to a middle table premier league and youll see that its not good, liverpool ,chelsea, arsenal, mutd got way better deals BEFORE our deal, just imagine in 5-6 yyears our deal will be like a big fucking joke .

m'vila? how can I include him? are u kidding me? Mbaye won't be here. After we sell taider, alvarez, guaro, we will need many players i really doubt we will get equal quality for them .

ffs 80 million euros is not even our total of salary, does this team make any money at all? And exactly this, we wont improve our squad we will just sell , arsenal like (best case scenario)
