I love the guy but I don’t want us to be that type of team.

Allegri 'close to Inter and Agnelli'

Max Allegri ‘was close’ to replacing Antonio Conte at Inter and has a bad rapport at Juventus with everyone except President Andrea Agnelli, claims his mentor Giovanni Galeone.

Now retired coach Galeone is still close friends with Allegri and they meet up regularly in Tuscany.

“He had been very close to Inter, but then Conte got back to having a normal rapport with the club,” Galeone told Radio Kiss Kiss.

There were also suggestions Allegri could go back to Juventus after Maurizio Sarri was sacked. “Max still gets along very well with Agnelli, but only Agnelli, and that might not have been enough to seal his return. I can say that he confessed his desire to get back out there, so he’s ready to go.”

So as Il Drago mentioned in the Real thread, we contacted De Zerbi in the summer according to Biasin. Thoughts? Smells like Year 0 to me, and we play pretty much the polar opposite of how his Sassuolo plays these days. Although I love the way Sassuolo are performing recently, it would still be an incredibly underwhelming appointment IMO.

Let another club take the punt on him, like Roma, and see how he does. The only thing is that he might bring Locatelli with him, which gets a thumbs up from me.

    Oh I've missed this thread!!!

De Zerbi? You mean Guardiola v2.0? Can't wait for the shitload of rumours to start flying around.

I would like that Nagelsmann dude, bring a bunch of Red Bull guys with him.

To me it sounds like we can't afford hiring a top coach on top of Conte heavy salary and we can only go for gambles. De Zerbi looks promising but he reminds me too much of Di Francesco. He's probably more suited for Fiorentina, Roma or even Lazio. These promising Italian coaches rarely work at Inter. I would prefer a more defensive coach after the defensive struggles we've been facing this season under Conte. I am also sick of Italian coaches and their mentality.

If we're to take a gamble, at least make things interesting. Try something new by thinking out of the box and bring in Nagelsmann, like Nurko suggested. He has shown very promising signs both at Hoffenheim and Leipzig and he's also a fan of back 3 formations, like Conte, though nowhere near as stubborn.

De Zerbi is doing great things at Sassuolo for sure but I’d like to see him prove himself at a bigger club where there’s more pressure. Sassuolo not getting relegated is an achievement. Anything more than that is friggin amazing for a club their size. Like Udinese in the mid 2000’s.

if conte will not improve the team performances in the next months, he will must give us a lot of justifications!

    He wanted Kolarov
    He wanted Vidal
    He wanted to sell Godin
He is destroying players like Eriksen and Skriniar

If he will not reach important goals, it's the moment that he goes away!

    Allegri is waiting...

Vidal was a good transfer aside from coming very late for us, the issue is that he is not used properly.

There are players on the squad that would either have no place without Conte, or would have a very diminished output. That's the real problem. And the bigger issue is that he's driving away players that could be lethal under a different direction.

Thankfully we don't have many players who can only play in Conte's formation. After the end of this season Hakimi will probably be the only player who will more suited to a Conte formation but he's still young, he can work on his weaknesses and with the proper cover he could be efficient in a back 4. And it's not like Conte is getting the best out of Hakimi right now. This is the the good thing from not getting players like Marcos Alonso. The main problems are we have an ageing squad which will need to be replaced in the next 1-2 years, we're going to have almost no one on the lb and unless we sell one of our starting forwards we can only play with a diamond. Of course with Eriksen gone even that won't be an option. Sensi is broken, Alexis in the AM role would be considered too risky from most coaches and no one else can play the role. The next transfer market is going to be vital about the transition to the next coach.

We're well equipped for a divorce from Conte. Kolarov's contract will simply not be renewed, Hakimi will evolve into a Cancelo-like RB whose primary purpose is to attack, and the rest of the team should remain unimpacted. de Vrij might take a slight step back, but surely Skriniar will take a step forward to compensate.
