Italian media: which to pay attention to, which to ignore

OK, I need to open this topic since all sorts of crazy rumours are around and since they all come from various sources it is good that at least those that don't know the situatio in Italy know which to take seriously, which to have reservation to and which to discard completely. I'll give a short explanation to each one.

Usually reliable(not always correct but there is some substance in the whole thing).

-Gazzetta dello Sport(bigest sports paper in Italy)
-Corriere dello Sport(roman sports paper, but disregard everything about Lazio in it)
    -Goalcity.it
    -Rai transmissions

    To have reservations:

    - Datasport.it(mostly gossip)
    - Calciomercato.com(a compilation of various sources)

    To discard completely:

    - Tuttosport(an ultrajuventino newspaper!)
    - Virgilio sport, sports.it, Controcampo(both the TV transmission and the paper), all of those belong to Mediaset, i.e Berlusconi
    - all daily papers from Milan and Turin(Corriere della Sera, Stampa etc.)

I believe this information is vital for survival during the summer transfer market.

Anyway, how about sportal.it? Or is it the same as sports.it that you mentioned?

Actually if you look at the archive or Inter.it in the 2002 summer where they still posted rumours you'll see Corriere della Sera are usually spot on.
I'd also like to mention tgcom ,I heard it also belongs to Berlusconi so that one goes to the "discard completely" list .

Hisham, inter.it used to be the best 2 years ago. They used to compile all the inter-related rumors from all the papers, and it used to be very informative.

Now, they plain suck. So I go to these two websites to get my stuff, they are moderately reliable:

    http://www.goal.com
    http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/

I do check many sites, no wonder I get rumours of all kinds.

I think that these sites are not bad:

    www.calciomercato.com
    www.sports.it
    www.tgcom.it
    www.goal.com
    www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia

But yeah .... none of them are right all the times ... may be they are 40% right ??

SkySports or any English newspapers belong to the "Don't give a $hit about it" category.

But for me personally, the most important thing is not only the source in which you read the rumour but you have to analyze the rumour yourself. For example, the Beckham to Chelsea rumour. Just think about it for a second and you will know that the rumour has no foundation and is just raised by the media to raise ratings.

In terms of Eng sites there is only one site to visit and that is: http://football.guardian.co.uk/

There is no room for BS and you can only find bunch of fantastic writers. It is very informative with down to the point articles. It is also linked with Reuters news bulleting as well hence you cant really ask for more.

Gazzetta Dello Sport is the one I trust. Their latest story about Inter's defendermarket is quite long. Great stuff. The story mainly says Chivu, Alex and Kompany are in our sights.

We're believed to have offered 11 million and Burdisso for Chivu and 8 million for Alex. Moratti is also trying to buy Kompany byt belgian would stay to Anderlecht for one more year if this happened.

Not a word about Luisao and Juan.

Edit: if you can't speak italian just go http://babelfish.altavista.com

It will translate stories for you.

Imagine if we signed all 3 Chivu, Alex, and Kompany. That would be fantastic, but as always the doubt settles into my mind. That would truly be one of the best scenarios especially with Burdisso not coming back. Though even with such buys I sorta feel that Materazzi will stay, which isn't that great.

I only visit Goal.com and stick to the English sites.

But, really, they are all full of crap and shouldn't be taken too serious. I wait for things to become official, it's that simple, bro.
