well, apparently he wants out because he wants to try premier league. he's been saying this for a year now so i believe it's true, not just related to the relationship with icardi

Perisic might change his mind though if we give him the full control of the dressing room and the captain armband next season.

And also let him approve the type of celebrations other players do before execution.

Inter don't need to convince anyone to stay. It will always be bigger than any one player, and the management is doing a great job of reinforcing that position with the current Icardi saga.

Anyway, just because a player flirted with transfer interest at various points in his career does not mean he is irredeemable at the current club. Perisic showed in 2017 that he can consider offers, remain at Inter, and continue to perform.

So often here at FIF we try to put the cart before the horse.

well, it's just that in this specific case it looks like something lingering in his mind for over a year, not just a whim.

There is very little difference between convincing them to stay and making them an offer so that they will stay.

Some players prefer to go around, it simply takes a bit more to convince them to stay in this club. If you think no convincing is required, then you are pretty delusional.

Of course we can all cross our arms and say the club is better than the player, but if we do this for every player, we risk a huge degradation in squad quality and chemistry. How often can we do this? We can't guarantee to sufficiently replace these proven players every time they want to move.

At the end of the day, it's the players who make and define the team, not the other way round. I mean yeah, we can go replace Perisic with Quaresma and Schelotto, let's see if Inter will define the way they play or if they will. We would turn into a loser club in a matter of seconds.

Continue to perform? if i remember right he pretty much started suckig once he signed a new contract. I mean if i remember correctly his form dropped significantly in late 17 early 18 might be off a bit with the timeline. And baisicaly he sucked from then till now with the exception of the WC.

Also he had the guts to speak about his desire to play in the EPL before the barca away game which was probably our biggest game of the season. Dude has to leave especially since it was not the polite you ll never know maybe one day answer. His answer was i want to play in england and i m not getting younger.
Which matches do you feel more, those with Juventus or Milan?

Indeed, managing relationships with your players is an important part of running a club. Perisic mentioned in December that Spalletti was extremely important in convincing him to stay (link to 442 story below).

It has to be about more than one specific player, though. This needs to be viewed on an aggregate scale. Of course, you do your best to keep your players happy, but it seems that Inter are starting to take more of a hard-line approach to managing their squad, and I see that as extremely positive.

After all, the Inter brand remains top ~15 in world football, despite the fact that we haven't been particularly relevant for about 7 years. If Perisic and Icardi are sold this summer, I'm confident there will be big names to replace them.

Last season was arguably his best at Inter, despite there being a ton of speculation about whether he would leave at the start of the campaign.

I'm not sure what exactly you're referring to, but if it's the quote below then it's totally diplomatic and reasonable:

“In football, you never say never,” he says. “From the beginning of my career, I’ve had the ambition to play in as many big leagues as possible, and I still have that desire to test myself in other leagues. And I mean in the Spanish or English leagues.

“I hope Inter fans understand my point of view. I’m an athlete and a professional, I like challenges and this is my driving force. What the future will bring, I don’t know. Now I’m focused on Inter, as we try to make a bigger step forward from last season.”

First we gave the armband to the guy who has publicly said he is not going to play football till his mid 30s, now let's give it to the guy who keeps on repeating he wants to play in EPL

the captain's armband should pass from Samir (once he retires) to Skriniar only!

He handed in a transfer request. I've heard nothing about that request being rescinded.

I hope we sell him this summer. His mind is made up! He’s just playing with a chip on his shoulder. If he doesn’t get sold this summer he’ll start acting a fool again and fuck up our attack. The time is now.

And now when Perisic feels like playing again, he deserves praise and everyone else are bored zombies? Again, please name the lazy players you are referring to.

Our problem was never a lazy attitude or lack of commitment from (most) players. We just sucked in the final 3rd (because of a talentless midfield, and because talented players (P+N) decided not to show up).
Bluenine, I'm still waiting for that list.

First of all, the transfer window is closed. Next mercato things will have been completely re-evaluated. No one knows how that will play out.

But that's really not my point. So in the end Perisic didn't the transfer he wanted (who knows if it was ever a "real" offer or just an attempt to divide and conquer). Regardless, Perisic still goes out and performs like a professional. He did it last season after the rumors in the summer and now he's doing it again coming out of a tumultuous winter transfer period.

Perhaps that makes him a mercenary, and not a "true Interista". Fair enough, but at least he's professional enough to continue to go out and put in hard working, productive performances. Compare that to our beloved former captain, who now refuses to play because he feels disrespected.

if you're looking for a list of players who don't work as hard as Perisic, you can find it here:

Sorry mate, must have missed your post. I was referring to many of our games in Dec-Jan, where most of our players passed the ball around aimlessly, were 2nd to every 50-50 ball and generally lacked intensity & purpose - hence the "like bored zombies". And I mean most players including Perisic, Nainggolan, Mario, etc in games like that last one against PSV or Torino or Bologna, you know what I am talking about.

I would have suggested you watch these games again but I wouldn't wish that on anyone

Sometimes all you need is 1 or 2 key players to turn on the intensity and that can be infectious and spread to the entire team. Perisic has been that catalyst for us in the last 2-3 games.

He is a true pro indeed. But the fact is he's been flirting with a move away for quite some time already and the transfer request was the paramount of that. Reasons for that are not 100% known (of course), could be related to Icardi so I have some understanding of that. Specially the timing the request was super odd, that's why I think it was Icardi-related.

Anyway, he's probably out in the summer, last move, last big contract and the possibility to play in EPL. No hard feelings from my side at least.

True pros don't go playing like shit for a year and then come to realization his dream moves have collapsed and then work hard again to salvage whatever little reputation and career he has left here in Inter.

Nor does a true pro play like shit just because of some disagreement with another team member.

I don't mind a true pro looking for alternatives, but I do have a problem with him playing only when he feels like it.

For me, he is a fake pro.

Ibrahimovic wanted to leave but even when he literally pointed at his crotch at our fans still kept scoring and became top scorer in a game which didn't matter because the league was sealed.

Perisic is a 30 year old man who seems to be motivated when he plays with people he likes, can you imagine doing that shit at your place of work? Ridiculous.

Normal, but abnormal for a "true" pro that is being discussed here.
