    The most dissappointing thing for me is i thought we had finally turned a corner. We performed well against big teams last year, we had a strong transfer market, more revenues, started the UCL campaign great, showed a lot of grinta in the first 2/3 months and it was all looking positive. But since the barcelona draw, something has changed. The momentum has died, the never give up attitude has faded and we have become cripples by fear again. We have udinese this weekend, that could be another loss. It looks like this season could just explode yet a-fucking-gain.

    Fuck these players. Fuck this team.
    We are not now that strength which in old days
    Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
    One equal temper of heroic hearts,
    Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
    To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

    This is obviously a bit of a late reply (because I only just now saw this), but this kinda helps to explain why my own personal philosophy has evolved ove the years into being something of a "enjoy the hell out of [it] in the moment" because, really, future events will always have a way of coloring our ultimate perception on past events and what they mean to us in the long run.

    To use a non-Inter example - my favorite NHL team (Tampa Bay) had a spectacular regular season last year. Best regular season in franchise history. Breezed through the first two rounds of the playoffs, and were one win away from reaching the Stanley Cup Final. And then they lost the last two games, and not just lost, but got shutout in both games (they were the highest scoring offense in the league last season, and are again this year too). And after that happened, getting eliminated in a painful manner for the second time in three seasons (they were eliminated in the same way two years previously, from up 3-2 in the 3rd round to losing the last two games), every positive memory of last season was lost for me. I've never watched a single highlight from any game last season. They mean nothing to me. Not just because they lost, but the manner in which they did. Those memories are tarnished and would only remind me of bad associations. Better to just avoid them altogether.

    There are plenty of others. We all have them. But that helps to explain my philosophy. I probably watched the Vecino goal 100x a day for the first week or so after that game. In my time as a Nerazzurro, it's my #1 moment. Not that I figured we were going to go all the way in the CL this year anyway (...please), but obviously it's not just crashing out but moreso the manner in which we did. And, frankly, I'm not sure I've watched that highlight a single time in the last three months, and that's part of the reason why.

    Like I said, future events color past events and the way we perceive them, sometimes for good, sometimes for bad. But, of course, we can't predict the future with any guarantees of accuracy, and it's really just better to enjoy what you can while you can. You can always have the good memories of what it was like in the moment after a good thing (like me bursting out of my house in ecstasy after a Lightning playoff GWG in 2016) even if what happened afterwards makes them less special in hindsight.
