    Tourist in Italy tips

Hey everyone, pretty random thread but I'm completely out of touch with fashion let alone Italian fashion.

I'm traveling to Italy in late July so I assume its going to be summer still. Any tips on what to bring and how to dress? I'm looking at stuff online and the style is so out there i could never pull it off.

    Thanks.

I just have a little advice because of a mistake that I've done. If you know that you're going to place like Venezia where you have to walk alot then search for some very comfortable shoes.

Yeah noone's expecting an american tourist to be up with the height of italian fashion. Just wear comfortable clothes for the intense heat. Shorter shorts for men are more fashionable here than in the US (I've lived in both) so that's good news for staying cool.

Stay away from black dudes with bracelets - they're a nuisance. I mean, they'll try to put a bracelet on your arm, even if you don't want one Not a huge deal, but yeah.

About what to dress, what the fuck man, no one cares what you wear you're an American tourist so everyone will hate you anyway.

this - extremely annoying. everywhere around the duomo too, really pissed me off last time i was there, don't entertain it at all. they'll try to suck you in by talking all nice etc, will put a bracelet on your wrist, then ask for money.

but yeah, if your going out as a tourist just wear comfy clothes as you'll be doing a lot of walking im sure.

If you're a girl and you want to go inside Duomos, don't wear tank tops or anything else like that; they turn you away (so I've heard). Other than that just dress comfortably. No one really cares what you wear as long as you're polite.

Be careful with the immigrants. In Rome and Milan they try and sell you stuff on the streets like selfie-sticks rather aggressively. In the metro stations, they hang out by the ticket machine and try to steal your change. The bracelet dudes mentioned above are also very annoying. Usually there are police around, so just put up your hand and call for them; that will scare away the beggers.

Also beware of pickpockets. Don't keep your wallet in your back pocket. Travel light in terms of cash. Once again, I would be particularly concerned if you're using the metros.

Well, Italy is extended in latitude, so it also depends on where in Italy you are going to. I mean, one thing is to go to Milan and another is to go to Sicily, where I live, which is almost "african-like" hot and sunny in the summer. So if by any chance you are travelling to Southern Italy, for instance you might want to bring with you a straw hat with a large brim, it protects you from the sun but also lets the air flow
My username has nothing to do with the player of loserpool fc, it is just a reference to an Italian novel.

IMO best part of Italy is Tuscany. Amalfi coast a close second.

Do not do this. In Italy or any other country.

Also use one of those money pouches that you can keep close to your body depending where you go. Like mentioned above, immigrants are a horrible cancer in Italy.

Spent a few nights in Rome and in Florence(beautiful place) up next is Venice. It's just so hot and humid I actually had to buy
shorts and a new shirt because there are no irons in my hotels. So many Wera's as tourists here too.

When I was in Rome about a two months ago, at least 80% of the tourists were Asian. Don't know if it's because of the time of year I went or what.

I don't know but there are so many. It's cool though they made me blend in with the locals more. Next year I'm going to try Japan.
