    Retro Calcio

Just figured we need this. Let's keep it mostly videos of old games or documentaries. One video per post should make things easier. Doesn't have to be just Italian related, it's the world of football thread.

    - - - Updated - - -

I'll make the start. River Plate 1996. Copa Libertadores final. Crespo, Ortega, Francescoli, Burgos, Sorin*, Almeyda and Gallardo some of the important names. Ramon Diaz, former Inter striker, their trophy winning manager. Aimar was also introduced in the first team that year but didn't feature in the Libertadores.

*Sorin has been awarded a Champions League and Copa Libertadores trophy in the same year, 1996. But he did not feature in the Champions League final. He only played 45 minutes in that tournament.

Best Real Madrid since the Di Stefano-Puskas era. Probably better than the Galacticos and the current team as well. They got their fair share of ref advantage but nothing excessive and nothing unusual for any Real Madrid team in history. Butragueno was just sublime.

This is from the Uefa Cup Final of 1986. They beat us 5-1 in the semis (3-1 for Inter in Italy then 3-1 for Real Madrid in Spain after 90 minutes + 2 goals in extra time. Their first goal in the return leg was from a non-existent penalty...)

Juninho Pernambucano with a magical free kick against River Plate in the semifinal of the 1998 Copa Libertadores for Vasco da Gama (They went on to win it), the game was in Argentina and back then River were littered with future stars. The best free kick taker in history.

i remember some people in france were even grateful to him for playing in their league, they were like: "this guy belongs to a better league". at least that's what i have often heard.
My username has nothing to do with the player of loserpool fc, it is just a reference to an Italian novel.

Velez vs Milan in the 1994 Intercontinental cup. Velez's most recognisable people are Jose Luis Chilavert (the scoring GK) and Carlos Bianchi (the Larry David clone who was later Boca's coach with 3 CL wins). Mauricio Pellegrino was also part of that team, he was probably on the bench.

The clip is 10 minutes long and it shows the breakdown of Milan who conceded two goals in 8 minutes to lose 2-0 and the cup.

I'm actually glad that he and Conte rejected us/didn't work out and we got stuck with our third choice.

Chelsea-Lazio in the 1999/2000 Champions League.

Zola, Poyet, Desailly, Deschamps, Di Matteo and Babayaro on the one side.
Mihajlovic, Stankovic, Nedved, Simeone, Veron, Almeyda on the other (with Mancini, Salas, Boksic and Sergio Conceicao also on the bench).

Panathinaikos vs Juventus. Champions League 2000-1. Panathinaikos wins, Juventus goes to 4th spot of the CL group and Europe is over by November 8th (2nd group stage started on December).

Uefa Cup semis... That was supposed to be an Inter-Milan final and it ended up being Feyenoord-Dortmund
