    Rafinha or Cancelo?

The question is simple; if we have to choose between redeeming one of Cancelo or Rafinha this summer, and cannot afford both, which player would you choose and why?

    Rafinha - better mentality

    Cancelo - better technically

50/50 tbh. If we can get Vidal, I'd spring for Cancelo only.

Barca would negotiate for Rafinha...... I don't think Valencia will for Cancelo. Tho Cancelo was basically a straight swap for Kdog + Murillo
    VAR is some serious Bullshit!

Actually I forgot we even lent Murillo to them. So yeah, we don't even need to waste money on Cancelo.

When he’s on his game, Rafinha brings a different dimension to the attack this current squad is severely lacking....but then again Cancelo has probably been the best FB Inter has put out on the field in so goddamn long.

Tough. Really tough. Gun to my head, I probably say Rafinha.

Good fullbacks are harder to come by than good CMs, but Rafinha has a mentality which is difficult to come by in general. I'd have to with the latter given the complete lack of mental fortitude in our side

Rafinha, easy. I don't rate Cancelo at all.

Rafinha as our entire midfield functions differently with him. He struggled today but has been a huge factor in our improved performances during the awful run. You could see whenever he came on as a sub how much better he was than everyone.

Him and Brozovic have been huge for us in this second part of the season.

hm based on the lazio game alone, rafinha was nowhere to be seen
but good question. they are both options. tho rafinha is the creative one, i don't think he's strong enough. cancelo is rather harder working on the wing, and a bit more physical. . cancelo can stay. rafinha too if he can improve a bit... sneijder was half his size and 10 times better.

I go back and forth with this one, but mainly I've been in camp Cancelo. I will stay there, I think today was a good example of why. When the game was tough and we were being crowded out and completely dominated in the midfield Cancelo was still able to create opportunities for us based purely off his skill, speed and technique.

For as much as a I love Rafinha, he is not a great athlete. He does make up for that in other ways, such as having an above average football IQ, great technique and good intangibles (the kids got heart and mentality). However, on days like today that's not always enough. If we were Barcelona and controlled 70% of possession on average this wouldn't be an issue, but for Inter (and most other teams in Europe) having someone who can withstand a physical battle is important.

In football nowadays at the very top level teams aren't using AM's. I would also like Inter to get away from that. Today Rafinha's performance reminded me a lot of Dybala's in last year's CL final. Crowded out, couldn't get a kick. I think playing a sole AM behind a striker with wingers (4-2-3-1) is becoming increasingly tough at the top level. If you look at the top teams that have been winning trophies over the last 3 or 4 years you will notice a trend. Real, Barcelona, Chelsea, City, Juventus, Atletico. None of them play with an AM. I think there is an argument of Rafinha potentially being used in a CM position but I think that would call his athleticism into question even more. So for these reasons and the ones stated above Cancelo is the choice for me.

That's why I'm going for Cancelo. If we miss our chance of signing him we might have to wait another 8 years to find someone like him.

I also agree with what thatdude said. During our 3-4 months dry spell, Cancelo was the only player who performed week in week out. Almost all the points we gathered during this period were because of him.

When is deadline for those transfers?

Rafinha is really smart and reliable player but I would love that player in his position have a little bit more pace. It’s ok to have him when we dominate but in games like today he was constantly blown away while Cancelo destroyed Lulic on his flank.

I love em both. But Rafinha has a bigger impact in our team. Build up, possession, passing, leading, a sort of "safe house" type of player for everyone around him.

Having said all this - Cancelo is worth 5 Murillos and 10 Kondogbias. He had more impact in 6 months for Inter than Nagashit and the likes of him never could have had in a million years here.

Another thing, it is not like Rafinha lets players bully him, the dude protects the ball perfectly, and never complicates a thing. Also, keep in mind, you guys still havent seen the best of him, he has superb curvy shot from around the edges of the box.

I would rate the Rafinha transfer 9/10 and Cancelo 8/10.

I agree that we should do anything in our power to sign both, even if that means selling Icardi.

We all saw that even Imobille can score 29 when he’s surrounded with great midfielders.

I totally agree with everything that was said by thatdude and Ronaldo. I will only add that another reason that i prefer Cancelo is i have no faith in Ausilio finding a proper replacement . So far the players we have been linked with confirm my fear. I love Rafinha passion and determination to stay at Inter but if i had to choose one i would go with Cancelo.

Perhaps we are answering this question "too subjectively" after years of uncertainty.

Too many FB problems drive our desire for Cancelo
Too much fond memory of Mancini drives our desire for Rafinha

Contingent factor: Cancelo is rarer than Rafinha.
Systemic factor (as in thatdude's post): modern playing style favour having a Cancelo

    Conclusion: Cancelo
