I doubt we could choose both on our favor tbh. Either it is on Dembele favor (long term contract, then he pushes for the move), or on Tottenham favor (big transfer fee).

    It depends on the numbers.
He now makes Ł80,000/week, which i assume is gross, so 4.2 million pounds, or 4.8 million euros ( gross), which is probably around €2.5 mil net/year. That is around what most starters ( and not) make at inter, except icardi. If they offer him 11 mil (net) over 4 years, that should be enticing enough for him and affordable for us, at 2.75/year net (~5 gross), if they can get it for 10/15 mil, is it would count on the books for 7/8 per year.

Also, they should structure the contract front loaded for older players. For example, if the agreed fee is 12M/4 years, instead of doing 3-3-3-3, do -for example- 4.5-3.5-2.5-1.5, so the last year is not an albatross and can be sold more readily if needed

    INTER, MISSION FOR DEMBÉLÉ

The Belgian has requests from China but Inter will proceed with Tottenham.
An Inter emissary will be in Brussels today. Joao Mario, possible exchange.

Mousa Dembele is on the very top of Spalletti’s wish list. After the trip to London last week, Ausilio and other Inter executives are keeping in touch with the player’s entourage and tonight, an Inter observer will be in Brussels to attend the friendly between Belgium and Egypt. It will be an opportunity to once again observe the Spurs midfielder who is the favorite to reinforce the Nerazzurri midfield.

At the moment, Inter are focused on sales and 40 million in capital gain is needed to put account in balance. But this will not be the only front that Ausilio and Gardini have to keep monitored because by July 9th, when the players are expected to start preseason training camp, Luciano Spalletti expects at least one more signing in addition to the three already made in Martinez, De Vrij and Asamoah. And if it is Dembele, Spalletti certainly would not mind.

On his part, the Belgian feels that the moment has come to say goodbye to the Premier League. This past season, he had physical problems such as ankle issue and some muscular discomfort although he always performed at a very high level and that is why Pochettino almost always played him. The Argentinian coach wants to convince the player to renew his current contract which expires in 2019 for at least another year, but for the moment he has not given any sign of openness. Dembele wants one last big contract in his career and for this reason, his demand of a four-year deal until 2022 is a bit too much for the English club.

Dembele does not lack admirers, especially from China. One is Benjing Guoan, the team that bought Villarreal forward Bakambu for 74 million euros. The Chinese have a lot of money and this is why Daniel Levy, Tottenham boss, aims high, asking for 30 million euros. Inter will try to lower the demand while the Chinese.. well… who knows.

In the meantime Ausilio will carry on the discussion with the player’s entourage, agent Rober Linse and Tom De Mul, a former Ajax and Vitesse player who was forced to retire due to physical problems. In this operation however, it seems that Kia Joorabchian is also involved, not to discuss Dembele’s contract, but to find possible agreement between two clubs. Kia offered Mousa to Ancelotti of Napoli and now aims to play the same role with Inter, the club that knows him very well after Joao Mario and Gabriel Barbosa. Will he try to add the Portuguese in the deal?

So with Sabatini gone Kia is back in business with Inter. Good to know. Anyway, i like Dembele but i wouldn't spend anything over 15-20m for him. 30m for a 31 year old, injury prone who has just one year left in his contract are way too much no matter how good he is.

I hope that it will not be a straight swap - I rate Dembele a lot but giving full Joao Mario for a very good guy but with old and with 1 more year on the current contract would be very steep.

If Spurs don't mind paying 40m for Joao Mario in June (which gives us a good FFP profit), I don't mind Inter paying 30m for Dembele in July. That could be a win-win as long as there is some truth in the rumours re Spurs interest in Mario.

Inter valued Joao Mario as 28 for his lowest price, and Spurs made 30 mil valuation for Dembele so it could be straight swap. This like Kia masterclass to made us accepted expiring contract dembele and let Joao Mario leave after his recent comment.

You are correct, he is a great player and not in decline but 30m for an injury prone old player is not wise.

This rumor is just as stupid as the one we had with Yaya Toure. Why on earth would you throw away this sum of money after a +30yo player when you have a limited amount of money? It's retarded.

INTER TO PLAY JOAO MARIO CARD TO LAND DEMBELE

    • New attempt for the Belgian of Tottenham
    • And now the Portuguese can be included in negotiation

Inter have one card to play in order to get to Mousa Dembele: Kia Joorabchian. The strategy to acquire the Belgian midfielder of Tottenham is enriched with many details and will be very complicated. The intention of Inter is to include Joao Mario in the deal in order to have Dembele going the other way on loan. And this is where the Iranian agent comes into play because he is the manager of the Portuguese European champion. Spurs continue to keep Dembele’s evaluation high despite the fact that the player is on last year of contract. Inter are ready to offer 15-16 million euros while in London, they aim for double. Joao Mario is back from six-month loan spell at West Ham and has left a positive impression in the Premier League. The player has never fully settled in Italy after joining Inter from Sporting in summer of 2016 for 40 million euros. In a recent interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, he explained that he will not return to Italy and now Joao is looking for a new destination. The 24 million in Inter’s budget must be “digested” and this is the biggest obstacle. Inter are also willing to study alternative routes for an immediate sale. For the good of all.

Strategy - Tottenham of Mauricio Pochettino (if he stays) could be an ideal technical arrangement. In a mix of hope and optimism, Inter will try this move to sign Dembele, who in Spalletti’s head represents a fundamental starting point. The Belgian will participate in the World Cup and if Inter can draft some sort of agreement before the tournament in Russia, that would be wise and ideal. Inter already know the player and so waiting for after the World Cup will not change the opinion of the club’s talent scouts. What matters was the mission to London last week by sporting director Piero Ausilio and CFO Giovanni Gardini. The trip to talk to Joao Miranda to extend his contract was an opportunity to meet the leadership of Tottenham. The English club would like to extend Dembele’s contract well beyond 2019, possibly until 2023. The timing of three players in question do not coincide and the fact of the matter is Dembele will be 12 months away from becoming a free agent. The need to find a team for Joao Mario will be sorted by Kia who has been on the sidelines after bringing Joao Mario and Gabriel Barbosa to Inter in the summer of 2016 for a total of 74.5 million including bonuses. Both have not been remotely adequate to that amount. Two years later, Inter continue to fight on in an optimal manner with the limits of Financial Fair Play and for this reason, Kia can come in handy.

Just take JM and give us Dembele. You don't even need to pay us extra cash, just register both players as being worth 60 million.

    Thank you.

    Er.. nope.
If this is to happen , money needs to come our way.
The books do not magically disappear. We need a decent capital gain on JM and we need not to burden our balance with a large amount for dembele. Dembele + 10 works now. I am sure after the WC, JM will have appreciated more

JM for exchange? Nope. We dont want to get rid of one of a very few players who's mentally experienced in the CL, do we?

They sold Pogba for 100 million at a pure capital gain not too long ago, and go far in the UCL every year.

After checking transfermarkt, apparently the putrids balance their purchases and sales very well. Unlike us, they don't constantly buy unmarketable trash bags every summer for high prices, and then have to sell them on discounts later.
