Inter director Marotta leaves hospital
By Football Italia staff
Inter director Beppe Marotta has been released from hospital after 10 days of treatment for COVID-19.
The former Sampdoria and Juventus chief will be home for his 64th birthday next week.
Reports from the Gazzetta dello Sport and Sport Mediaset claim Marotta has been released from the Humanitas hospital in Rozzano after an improvement in his condition.
He had been in the clinic for observation and treatment since March 11.
Inter are in the middle of a COVID-19 outbreak, which has affected Samir Handanovic, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino.
This prompted tonight’s scheduled Serie A match against Sassuolo to be postponed.
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta Back At Work After Recovering From COVID-19, Italian Media Report
Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta is back at work after recovering from COVID-19, according to a report in the Italian media.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Marotta was discharged from the Humanitas hospital in Milan on Saturday after being taken there as a precautionary measure.
Marotta attended yesterday’s virtual Lega Serie A meeting in which Italy’s top-flight clubs tried to resolve the impasse regarding the league’s next batch of TV rights.
This was his first public appearance since contracting COVID-19, the Milan-based paper explained, albeit only in an online setting.
Inter will need Marotta for their Serie A title run-in as Antonio Conte’s side look to secure the Scudetto amid off-field problems for owners Suning.
Marotta did an exceptional job during the first part of 2021 in keeping the Nerazzurri’s players isolated from the uncertainty at corporate level, allowing Inter to pull six points clear of AC Milan (with a game in hand) at the top of the table.
Welcome back Beppe![]()
Inter clueless management with no strategy and wasting tons of money. every year, again and again
This guy’s a massive massive part of the position we’re in. Having the balls to fire Spalletti and hire the Don himself, then work with limited budgets and perform an excellent market and then having to somehow keep the players and staff calm after the Chinese cowards refused to even pay the salaries. Welcome back Don Beppe
Really? Suning refused to pay salaries?
I get not liking our owners but saying shit like this is just absurd. We're in a bad position due to COVID-related missed income and made a deal with our players to delay payments, that's it. Hate on them for being cheapskates all you want but don't repeat anti-Inter propaganda.
I can see the argument that its not related to Covid (because of the chinese government situation), but I'd hardly argue it makes suning 'cowards'.
Also, pretty much every club except Lazio? Or Napoli? are behind on salaries at the moment, so its hard to argue Covid ISNT actually a cause of this. Barca and Real rae signing renewals now where they defer salaries for like 2 frigging years.
“I have no message for Conte. He was brought to Inter to win and he knows how to do it. There is and there will always be a rivalry but in amity.
“He is now ten points above Juventus, and he has an obligation to win. He is aware of that.
“We know how Conte and Marotta work. I am happy he [Marotta] recovered [from COVID]. I am happy for him. He’s been a master of all of us. We are happy for them.” - Pavel Nedved![]()
honestly, that bit is fine. When your biggest rival turns round and tells you you should win, you know they've really hit rock bottom and given up10 points clear of Juve, baby. Could be 13 too.
He's putting pressure though I doubt it has ANY effect. Marotta doesn't give a damn as the team is the only thing that matters at this point. And they are protected enough, so far.
Tbh it isn't just Nedved who's playing mind games. The whole Juventus organization is trying to put pressure at Inter and destabilize the team. Pirlo said Inter got lucky with covid. Paratici said, unlike others who had a transition period for 10 years, the word doesn't exist at Juventus. Now we have Nedved saying Conte has an obligation to win. And we had Tuttosport claiming Conte will demand investments in order to stay at Inter with Man Utd and Tottenham his possible destination in case of a departure.
Agnelli considers Marotta return?
By Football Italia staff
La Repubblica reports Juventus patron Andrea Agnelli is disappointed with the management and could try to bring back Inter CEO Beppe Marotta.
The newspaper reports it’s not only Andrea Pirlo’s position at the club that’s under scrutiny, claiming that Juventus President Agnelli is not satisfied with directors Fabio Paratici and Pavel Nedved.
La Repubblica writes the patron is unhappy about the signings last summer and the implications of the Luis Suarez case, in terms of image.
In place of the two managers, the report claims Agnelli could try to recall Marotta in the role of CEO, working with current Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
The Partenopei director would, according to the report, then be offered a similar role at the Allianz Stadium.
Yikes, it will be a disaster if he is going back to Jube.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that our management changed after he came here. Few months after he came, we decided to strip the captain from Icardi. I guess it was something that we can't imagine the previous management has balls to make. the next transfer window, we release two primadonas, Nainggolan and Icardi. Again, two very important players in our team at the time. Obviously, there must be lots of changes behind the scenes in the management after he came. I would say he is the key for building our team. And he did it only in 2 and half years, that is awesome given that we have been a scrub team for 7-8 years with lot of changes back and forth but actually going nowhere.
Yes I'm sure Marotta would love to go back to the club and the man that ushered him out the door for fucking Paratici after he built them a dynasty, instead of staying at (as of now) the biggest and most promising project in Italy.
Sure, there are financial problems and the Chinese are a question mark - although their hearts and minds seem to in the right place - but Juventus right now is a Jeb Bush-like mess, while he's got almost complete authority and control over the sporting project here.
Yeah. I can't see why Marotta would be willing to work again for the guy who kicked him out now that he's starting a cycle at Inter. He has already proved Agnelli wrong by bringing Inter back to the top. He doesn't need to go back to Juve to do so. The only way i can see Marotta leaving Inter this summer is if Suning sell the club and the new owners want to bring their own directors.
It is indeed a disaster if Marotta going back to Juve.
It is not impossible though. Marotta is a professional. If Juve is willing to double his salary here, I don’t think Marotta will decline it due to emotional reasons, such as how they treated him in the past etc. Marotta doesn’t love Inter eventually, nor hate Juventus. He just signed a contract and doing his job.
Inter had a great core, but Juventus’ isn’t that bad either. Their players are also young, and unlike Milan’s, the quality is high. They only need to bring a non-rookie coach to arrange a puzzles or top tier Allegri, that’s it.
I don’t see a bright future at Inter tbh. Suning didn’t give Marotta a single penny to work with last winter. And neither next summer. If you were Marotta, you are having a great plan ahead BUT your boss doesn’t support you, tying your hands and forcing you to write with your feet, you gonna be happy with that?
like Juve are any better right now though? At least Inter has a good young core to its XI, Juve you've got a dysfunctional and aging midfield, Ronaldo and Dybala mess of a situation, its a fucking disaster all round. Inter will be painful for a couple of years, but Juve only more painful.
I dont see him going back to Juve - its just the bullshit from the press like we've seen all season, now that our 30th of March deadline passed and we're not folded![]()
