    INTER COPPA ITALIA 2004/05 WINNERS

There are so many things to say.

Mancini came late last summer. We played with a back 3 with Zac, and Mancio changed to 4-4-2. Burdisso was the big promise, most of use were cursing Mihajlovic.

The season started and we just couldn't win. Draw after draw started to frustrate everyone, especially because Mancini managed to have an immediate impact on our gameplay: Inter was finally playing good football, attacking, imposing their game through a very technical midfield, often without real wingers, and using Cambiasso's skills to the full.

We paid for our mistakes, both in defence and in attack. Missed chances and gifted goals happened every week. Still, this team showed great character, and just wouldn't lose. So many comebacks, we showed how our motto, Never Give Up, is really appropriate for this team.

Then everything changed. That day in Milan, after Zlatan scored that penalty. 0-2, against a team that defended with 10 men, that allowed only a couple of goals in a whole bunch of games.

But this guy, Roberto Mancini, has got balls of steel. Here's Inter playing a suicidal 4-2-4 against Juve, and guess what? We got the 2-2, striking a lethal blow to the team of pigs, that was trying to humiliate us playing the 'torello' while the Gobbi fans were shouting insults at the Nord.

Since then, we'be been the best. First the introduction of C Zanetti alongside Cambiasso made our back 4 much more solid. But then we went beyond that. Look at the Coppa Italia final, we were playing with Dragone in the middle, still there was no Totti, no Cassano, no Montella able to score against us.

In the last 11 games of our season, 9 Serie A games and the 2 legs of the Coppa Italia final, we managed 10 clean sheets out of 11.

We achieved unforgettable wins against Samp and Gobbi, beating the cheaters at the Delle Alpi once again, and again with our hero Cruz striking and sinking them. (Just be around for the Italian Supercup, will you Julio? )

Our CL Campaign was very successful, we looked awesome and managed another historic victory at Valencia. We are respected as Italian Giants, no just for our history, but for our attacking play and all we showed Europe and the world. Sadly, a part of the Curva Nord let us down badly, this is the biggest sour note of this season. That, and Milan obviously...

The Coppa Italia triumph leaves us with great hopes for next season. By the way, we won 7 out of 8 Coppa Italia games this year!

I keep thinking at how positive and promising things look right now. Then a little voice in my head tells me: "Don't you feel like that every year? Why should this time be different".

You know what? It will be different. We are so strong already, and finally we have confidence, big time.

Let's hope Moratti and Facchetti will stick to their words, and will only make little changes to this great team.

I want to say that some players have really impressed me this season:

Stankovic, what a great first half of the season he had, he's so vital for this team! Thanks Dejan, I hope to see you 100% fit soon.

Capitano, our walking legend, there are just no words for you.

Cuchu, a new Inter Legend, a class act, a player we could never live without.

Mihajlovic, he started so bad, and he improved and improved, keeping his mouth shut and working hard. I have the deepest respect for him. He's cocky, he can be a pain at times, but in the end he's just a great person.

Cordoba, I'm happy that you've got to lift the Cup, you surely deserve it, you're like a General, such a faithful and consistent player.

And last, Marco Materazzi. Most Inter fans here have only words to insult him, and it seems that saying "I'll go to Bologna to prove I'm worth of Inter" made him look like a traitor to some fans.

He's got the heart of a lion, and that heart is black and blue. He makes mistakes, but people only remembers them. No-one remembers all what he does well. And remember, people who make mistakes are people who aren't afraid to try, to take a risk. That's much better than a "better not do it, if it goes bad I'll take the blame" attitude.

Grazie Mancini, we're dreaming of glory like never before, and we got our first taste of silverware.

We're are on our way, nothing can stop us. The Nerazzurri Army will conquer Italy and Europe

Great way to sum up the pros of Mancini.

Now, we wait for Hamed to come up with an article of Mancini's cons. Can't wait for it. (If he really wants to do it!)

I really just saw this article, and it was good effort by Frisko.

Han, I know it sounds that I sometimes dislike Mancini, but I really don't. I think he is the best thing that happened to us in a long time, but my constructive criticism is taken badly by some.

For example, I love Cuper to death. But I can say that he is a coach that thinks about how not to lose a game rather think about how to win it. I see this as a constructive criticism, and it's a sign of a very objective and mature fan, and I am not bragging here.

But Frisko and some others are extremely what I call homeboys. They defend our coach and some players blindly without even admitting that he might do something wrong. And the moment I, or Tommi for example, dare to say something, all the knives are out.

I agreed to some of what Fontana said, and to all of what Recoba said. Does this mean I hate Mancini or JZ or think less of them?

NO, and I am sick of saying this at times, but I love both guys to death. And it is really bothersome that opposers make it sound I am insulting JZ or Mancini by my criticism.

I just hate jumping around and just believing everything is peach-and-cream in the club. And I can't just close my ears and listen to only praise about my team. I am a very objective person, not only in soccer, but in my other daily life

Frisko, very nice article indeed. Those are nice words for some of our key players especially for the defensive duo that nobody thought was going to live through to see the end of the season. However, those exact 2 players have given us the best end to the season. For that, i salute them in the form of Frisko's article.

They gave us the best and the worse as well Tim, let's not forget that. I am afraid that they will be confirmed for next season based on the recent displays. Miha yes, he still has it, but I hope Materazzi leaves and Adani comes back.

Yes, they will make excellent backups but i am afraid that they will continue being first choice defenders for the new season. However, we are all basing our fears on the fact that they have the tendency to have mind blocks during games which causes lapses in concentration leading to open spaces for the defenders. If they play anything like they did in the latter half of the season, then we have no cause to complain.

In a utopian world, Miha & Matrix will continue to mow down the offence of every single team that dares to sniff their noses at the 2 of them.

It's really freshing to hear so many positive things being said coming off an Inter season. I mean, it's been awhile, you know.

I always like Friskos point of view since it mostly optimistic and bright. Great artcle champi bro!
One thing of this season that hurt me was that BBmilan still is our bogey team, but we at least became fearless of Jumerdus.

Yep Cuper could, we'd play with 10 men behind the ball, defending is just a tad easier like that...

Thank God he's gone and taken his anti-football mentality away from my team

Lol, a mess in the locking room? You must be kidding me cro. Mancio had to manage a huge squad, and yet again people like Davids and Coco never said one single word against him or the club.

Back in the Simoni/Cuper times, we actually had fights in the dressing room (one famous case is Simeone v Ronaldo), and players used to lack respect for the club and the coach and not being punished (i.e. Vieri refusing to come in as a sub/West taking off his jersey and throwing it at Simoni when subbed).

Mancini has a great relationship with most members of the squad, how can't you see that? Do you look at the pics of training?

Keep in mind that he has difficult players to manage (Mihajlovic) and people who have to put up with eternal benching (Recoba/Karagounis).
