I cant take anyone who suggested that seriously. It's one thing to find an ideal position for a player who was misused, but it's completely different to suggest a coach can make a shit player good.

This is true of all sports, but there are times where I think managers/head coaches tend to get stick for things that aren't entirely within their control.

I don't need to explain the importance of managers and what they bring, so I won't. We're all adults here who understand how sports work. But for every a manager can do in preparation and strategy, ultimately the players are the ones on the field doing the work, and Gagsy missing an open net from inside the 'keepers box, or Ashley Young coming onto the field with some self-imposed requirement to commit as many penalties as he can in a short period of time...Conte has zero control over that kind of stuff. Young has met - and probably exceeded - the very modest expectations we've had for him since he came here, to this point. You can't predict what game he's going to go Full Dalbert in. And Gagliardini is towards the top end of the totem pole* in the midfield, but between Brozovic being out and the compact schedule, he's going to get some more playing time out of necessity. And if he's going to work himself into a good position only to fuck up superbly at the end, then that's just what's going to happen.

The ability to coach up "shit" players only goes so far. It's why you hope you eventually reach the point with the quality of your squad that these "shit" players are usually towards the end of the bench and don't play so much. In the mean-time, you can work to minimize their weaknesses as best you can through formational strategy, but give them enough time, and those weaknesses are bound to hurt you somewhere along the line. Unavoidable reality.

*Look it up sometime. "Bottom" of the totem pole is a misnomer.

“There is certainly satisfaction. We were good at winning but I liked the attitude of the team that never stopped, always looked forward keeping the foot on the accelerator. We have scored many goals and have not conceded any. This thing must give us satisfaction,” he remarked in an interview with sports broadcaster DAZN following the match.

Next he was asked what positives can be taken from the match.

“Looking at Inter there are always many, then it depends on whether you want to look at the glass half full or half empty. For Inter you want to look at the glass half empty and create problems, but for me there is no problem. Attack me instead of the players or the club.

Conte then proceeded to be asked how he is managing striker Lautaro Martinez, who has been continually linked with a potential switch to Barcelona.

“You cannot fault his commitment. In a match like this he deserved a goal due to the opportunities he created. He deserved satisfaction.

“I am calm, I know we have this mini-tournament to do and I know I have good, professional guys who love Inter. All players have their qualities and their defects but they are splendid boys.

“They work hard and in the game sometimes they can make mistakes and I am sorry because sometimes we are seriously careless and that has made us lose points.

He then proceeded to sing the praises of Alexis Sanchez who put in a man of the match performance with him grabbing a goal and multiple assists.

“Sanchez was signed due to his quality. In the first half of the season we played with Lautaro and Lukaku without any suitable alternatives and sometimes let Esposito play.

“Now Alexis is fine, he is not at his best but he is on the right track. Against Parma he came on with the right attitude and I liked it, today I have seen great commitment on his part. Having three strikers now makes me feel more relaxed.”

The former Italian national team boss proceeded to discuss how much this team can grow.

“We have to finish the season in the best way, then sum things up. We are working hard, we have also taken advantage of this period of forced parking to propose something different than at the beginning.

“Honestly, since we started again, I have liked the team because I have proposed certain ideas and situations that we are trying again. Sometimes the result does not go your way and you are penalised and it seems that everything you are doing is negative.”

Next he praised Victor Moses, who ran Brescia ragged and put in a top performance.

“I’m happy, he was with me at Chelsea. If he is physically well he is a player who can be a protagonist. He had difficulties because he had several physical problems in Turkey, but he is an important player.”

In conclusion he spoke on the team as a whole.

“In terms of this team’s heart and generosity I have nothing to complain about but we need to make few mistakes and naivety has sometimes cost us on a psychological level.

“We can grow in this regard as this team is still quite young. Let’s focus from here to the end of the season, then let’s see what happens.”

Worth pointing out we didn't lose one single match against the so-called smaller teams this season in seria a, something that was a huge issue for us in the past.

And yeah I know, way to jinx it

Lose/draw, I don't see much difference, although it is at least a good start that we stopped LOSING to them. However drawing is still a problem and IMO that comes from our inability to keep clean sheets as we always tend to score at least 1 goal.

Now it's a perfect time to start the clean sheet frenzy as we have one already.

Yeah, my most hated matches by far in the mazzari, strama, pioli era were those when we narrowly lose a match against the team from bottom half, and they start celebrating like they won cl. I want to vomit just remembering those.
Hopefully we are past those times, when that happened on regular basis.

I believe we're past these times on a regular basis but still, we'll have troubles from time to time. It's up to mentality issue and I'm not sure is it possible Conte to change the mentality of the likes of Candreva, Gags, Rano,Biraghi, etc. You can see that these guys very often make mistakes when they are under pressure or they just completely "switch off" for some period of the games. Then they continue to play somehow timid, afraid to not make mistakes once again. With this mentality is very difficult to win constantly, because if something goes wrong, your players cannot turn the tables. From the other hand, you have young players like Barella, Bastoni, Lautaro, or even Agoume who play with composure and are willing to fight to the very end (I'd put Sanchez in that category as well) regardless they fucked up something or not. If we want a strong team we need to get rid of all of those "broken" players and to replace them with lads who aren't afraid to take responsibility when is necessary.

Record against teams that finished 11-20:

    2019-20 (so far)
    13-3-0
Points dropped: 6 points (0.375 points dropped per match against bottom half)

    2018-19
    13-4-3
Points dropped: 17 points (0.85 points dropped per match against bottom half)

    2017-18
    13-3-4
Points dropped: 18 points (0.90 points dropped per match against bottom half)

    2017-18
    13-2-5
Points dropped: 19 points (0.95 points dropped per match against bottom half)

We are about to find out how much better we are against the bottom half. Bologna, Fiorentina, SPAL, Genoa all await us. There are also teams right around the 11th spot like Parma (1-1-0) and Cagliari (1-1-0) that may factor into this count at the end of the season. But as of right now, it is a dramatic improvement. Juve has also dropped 6 points against the bottom half this season (Fiorentina, Lecce, Sassuolo).

That's some impressive statistic indeed. Shocking how bad it was only last season. I'd say it will be maximum of 8 points for this season if Parma nor Cagliari won't drop to bottom 11.

Target for next season is to obviously keep it at that level and then improve the points get from our direct rivals up top.

    “Gagliardini”

    “Mentality”

    “Wasted penalty”

    “Weak bench”

    “Bad players”

And this Jube shit will prance around as the world’s fourth most expensive coach without a care in the world, and people will find no fault, because they want to be mini-Juventus so, so badly.

Disgusting. And I’m not just talking about his face.

Fucking pathetic, can't even maintain a result against Bologna with a man less and even ends up losing, what's the point of the 3-man defense if it always looks like butter.

The absolute fucking retard doesn't play Esposito in a 6-0 easy win against the worst side in Serie A, but plays him today after going under.

Milan with a much worse squad plays better football.

Most overrated piece of shit ever.

At the end of the day a missed penalty and Gags whiffing on the ball under zero pressure leads to us losing control of the game. I understand blaming Conte sometimes but even he’s never had to deal with a team that actively does everything in their power to undermine him.

Inter has been like this since Stramaccioni days. Even with the new players we’ve brought in they are succumbing to this inter disease that’s the scary part. I’m not even sure how we can get ahead of it at this Point. Another overhaul? Another new coach?

Many members didn’t like my comments about Conte. You saw for yourselves. Is this the work of a logical human being, let alone an 11 m coach?
