You are so wrong. Inter never played ultradefensive park the bus football against relegation bottom table teams what we are doing right now. Against Peps Barca, Bayern, Chelsea yes but not against fkn today's Torino, Parma and Sassuolo.

I can't believe people following this team and this league for over 20 years but have no pleasure watching our defensive tactics?

For me personal, I think how our defense style was in 2010 was fucking beautiful. Maybe this is also why my favorite Inter player right now is a defender.
I fucking love defense, I love the level of concentration it requires, patience, dedication, discipline, team work, trust, commitment, etc, I love the 1-0 wins, I loved it when Skrinny made that standing tackle on Boga when he was one-on-one with Handa and when DeFry made that last ditch tackle on the offside Sassoulo player....

But we need a more balanced game plan. Especially in the modern game. Especially if we want to progress in Europe. Especially if we want to keep our best players and/or recruit Europe's finest. Conceding 70% at home is unacceptable by any measure.

I find his post-match comments very interesting. So the we've been playing lately is by design, not because we are incapable. And if this is his aim, then I like it, I'm glad. I value 3 points above all else and, with all due respect, find it extremely laughable to read a minority of us preferring to lose points in order for style. Progress is made step by step. Last year was the foundation, this year is the victory (hopefully) and if you wish for next year to be the year of domination, then sure. But for fuck's sake, it has been ELEVEN years since we won a meaningful title and you are crying about how we win 3 points? This ain't Real Madrid or Barcelona. Even during our glory years under Mancini & Mourinho, a lot of our victories were won by pure sheer grit.

Don't spew out bullshit that we only played defensive against big European names. We were equally pragmatic against mid-table teams too. And it seems like our domination over Milan, Juve and those crazy Pazza Inter games this season are forgotten. But the point that matters most is this. In the past 2 decades have never been a team renowned for its style or beauty. We are also very hungry & starved for the Scudetto. So to hear some of you complain about how we got our way to one, is simply disgraceful and ungrateful.

For me, it's not about playing good football or beautiful looking football. The formation and tactics are irrelevant.

What I want to see is a more sustainable kind of football. One which increases our chances of winning in the longer run, one which makes us competitive against the likes of Bayern and Real and others. Today we are winning. Is our current football going to help us there? I am sure it won't. Not having the ball at all, and relying on Conte to counter on the channel isn't going to work on a consistent basis against better opposition.

That's all there is to it.

honestly you make it sound like. team is capable of playing one type of football only

we've seen plenty of well worked team goals by this Inter. You need to pick your tactics for the match, and tbh, today's taactics worked well. If it wasant for a fairly wonder goal by Sassuolo, it'd haave been 2-0 if not 3-0, and a comprehensive defeat.

We're grinding out towards a title win - on the current pace we'll win this title with at least 4 games spare. That's pretty damn comprehensive.

It also could have been 2-2 at the end, everyone here would have been blasting the approach to the game.

What ath and bubba see is there, people go on the attack and say stuff like Dont watch Inter or its disgraceful but they can have their opinion and still want Inter to win, not sure why its one or the other.

I recall the days of Mancini winning scudettos in a row, people here were cursing the hell out of him and some of the players, even after he won the firs one.

Also what other type of football is being played? let me know the different ways you think Conte plays different from game to game and how he adjusts to different opponents .h.?

He can say all he wants post match, he should be happy it didnt end 2-2 and look forward to the next match.

I meana its clear right - this particular game he decided to let them have the ball knowing that their most creative players were unavailable, so unlikely to lead to many opportunities. And instead, use our players to hit them on the counter. Hakimi didnt really work out unfortunately, but Young's assist for Lukaaku aand then Lukaku's assist for Lautaro is EXACTLY what the game plan was set up to achieve.

We've seen this team play some amazing team football against, say, Juve, Milan, it's perfectly caapable of it (though having Brozovic and Bastoni out makes it MUCH harder), so he's adjusting his tactics based on our player availability and the attributes of the opponent.

Nothing wrong with that at all. It's called being a tactician.

Remember, being in possession is tiring. For everyone. You've gotta do a lot of off the ball movements, it takes high concentration to build passes and find opportunities. Our team are EXHAUSTED, especially in midfield. Barella's started pretty much every match this season except 1? Lukaku and Lautaro have played damn near every game too. If we're going to expend a lot of energy to win matches, Sassuolo isnt one where we needed to (as you see last night).

The tactics did exactly what it needed to - take us 11 points clear.

Random thought. How awesome would it be if they made a documentary based on this season (especially if we win scudetto) similiar to Amazon Prime's All or Nothing, I'd kill for that shit.

    Thank you.

Leaving the ball to Sassuolo is clearly the gameplan. However, a gameplan needs some balance and control.

I talked about Juve match yesterday and that was a fabulous display because they had the ball but did nothing with it. They could have played three hours, they wouldn't score. We shut them down.

There is a big difference with Sassuolo game or even Torino or Atalanta when we conceaded plenty if occasions in the last 20-15 mns but were saved by Handa and the defense.

I don't think the gameplan consisted of "Try to save our ass and kick the ball as far away as you can, don't bother". It was the case against Atalanta, then Torino, then Bologna, then Sassuolo.

A win is a win but I do think that it's not irrealistic to ask for something less wild when everytime we have the ball, we drop it far away and keep defending.

Inter have played counter attacking most of the games this year, dont really think he picked a different approach.

If you are saying that he might do that on purpose for players to save their energy in non important matches maybe ill agree but u giving up control of the ball against a weaker opposition generally isnt a good idea, especially if its done on purpose.

We have seen Inter play amazing team football in previous years as well, every team is perfectly capable of playing some of them during a season, just because the team is capable doesn't mean it's what it consistently does.

Our players are tired. People need to understand that they aren’t robots. Around this time previous years we had the typical meltdown due to fatigue, threw our season away after fantastic starts. But atm we are the first team since Serie A had 3-point rule winning all 10 games at the return round. Huge improvement.

As Milan and Juve are out of Europe, we don’t have the extra rest advantage anymore. Conte is doing an excellent job, spending just enough gas with maximum efficiency. He is a master of league titles for a reason.

That same reason why Conte has always been a failure in CL, while Gasperini the opposite. In CL those “calculations” don’t work. You need to steamroll every teams in a few matches. But let’s win Serie A for some seasons, if possible, to have better income/squad before worrying about CL.

All teams also get tired, also he has a bigger bench than other teams actually.

The reason he fails in the CL and cup competitions in general is because he is stubborn and thinks he can play the same way he did with Torino against Real Madrid, because he thinks his way is always correct, hence he has no plan B actually.

If by winning you mean Serie A then this approach has been proven extremely sustainable.
Juve won 9 titles in a row with this exact approach, even uglier.

If you mean CL, we're simply not there yet. We will need a much better squad, and very possibly better coach, so discussing approaches right now seems pointless.

Why was giving up possession a bad idea? Aside from a wonder goal and a potential penalty they did nothing wjth it. How many times have we seen Inter in the same position - lots of possession but never looking like scoring?

And actually him winning the Scudetto this year will confort him in his approach "See ? I won. So my way is the way".
That's why I do think we should part ways with Conte next year.

But we have to be very smart when appointing a new coach...

Plan B in football is a myth, all successful coaches are criticized for not having a plan B at times.
And when it would take months or even years to make plan A work, what makes you think plan B for like a week is a good idea?

You should tell Conte to work on that, how to be more creative in scoring when Inter have more of the possession, maybe he can shout out some attacking pointers to Eriksen.

Last years CL campaign wasnt bad enough to see? regardless he prob did because this year he helped do one better, he can continue with Plan A though if he likes the results, and if it brings in a scudetto and if people are happy thats fine as well.
