But Inter had played similar deep defending and fast counter attacking football under Mourinho?
Anyway, i'm not happy with his subs today. Barella had poor game and a yellow card and Conte took Eriksen off? Then Baralla was shifted in a front of the defense and 5G on the right side. This caused too many changes in our midfield and confused the team for a while, in my view. Vecino for Gagliardini was useless sub as the latter had a fine game, which is so rare occasion.

Yes, and we had horrible games under Mourinho, too.

But we had some outstanding moments : Bayern, Barca, Juve, Milan (both games), Chelsea ...

This year we had Milan and Juve.

But the squad was different and under Mourinho we were playing for a treble, at the end of the season our players were out of gas (which let Roma comeback).

You are free to have a preference. But I’m afraid Inter can give you what you want and this is not on Conte.

We used to have attacking coaches, like Spaletti, the football wasnt better and no results to show for either.

Anyway, the fact remains is we are not only winning, we are playing the best attacking football in the last decade. Some hiccups here and there shouldnt change anything.

Now if want to watch even more dominating football, looking for another team to support is honestly a sound advice.

If Don Cuntonio bring us scudetto we should thank him big time and than throw him out,I dont want to watch this travesty of football. Dont compare this shit with Mourinho's Inter. Snyder,Milito,Etoo were perversion to watch, this is shitfest. Worst Rube in last 10 years, shitty Bbilan and inconsistent Atalanta and Napoli are reason why we are here where we are,but with this kind of football we are destined to be joke in Europe and next year when Rube brings back Allegri we have no chance to win anything with this thing Cunte brings here. Fuck,we were playing better last season, this is pure luck, this is like few seasons ago Mancini first half of season when we where first playing shittiest football ever.

Its not over yet. That scumbags if Dybala starts playing his game can win every single game till end,and if we dont improve,we can fail. Its not over. This kind of our play cant convience anyone normal that we have scudetto right now.

Meh, a win is a win in my book. I still don't think we should extend his contract before he shows that he can decently compete in CL.

What a fucking joke of football. When I see our opponents playing, we make them seems like Brazil 70. We're not capable of doing more than 3 passes correctly.

It's boring, it's minimalist, it's exhausting, it's vexing seeing Sassuolo and Torino outplay us.

I don't have any pleasure watching Inter playing, it's boring, I can't even rejoice for the probable Scudetto, it's like every bit of enthusiasm is being sucked by our performances.

I had way more fun watching our display with Leonardo.
    But do you enjoy winning?

If you could press between 2 buttons. One of them making Inter play the most beautiful game people ever seen but not win anything OR press the button which make them play like under Conte but win everything possible for the next 10 years?

Maybe its not a realistic comparison but I enjoy winning most. Even today I can hear people talking about our treble being anti-footboll. Do you know what I say?

Of course Candreva, I enjoy see Inter winning.

I am afan since 97 and a draw against Parma.

I saw Juve and Milan winning everything (sometimes cheating) while we were driven away.

And you know, I hated oh how much I hated allthe masturbation about Barca, Guardiola and a Christic way of playing that should embrace us.

But ... I can see us winning with a little more, you know, control, less fear. Look at Juve game, they had the ball, they had the possession, but they did nothing, I didn't feel any fear, I was confident because we annihilated them. They were powerless.

But since the Derby, we're really struggling, we don't control anything, it's our individualities that are saving us, we're not showing anything as a team. Maybe solidarity and fighting spirit ? But that's all.

But maybe that's just me, I am not a romantic but my Favorite Inter is Gigi's in 98. Even more than 2010's squad. Yeah maybe I'm just crazy. Crazy and old.

I believe what Conte is doing right now is the best way to win Serie A, Mourinho kinda did the same thing. There were some more attack oriented teams in Serie A (or are there now), but the only one to win titles was Milan, more than a decade ago (Ibra-Thiago Silva Milan scudetto excluded).

As far Europe goes, the deep EL run showed us that Conte can do something in Europe .. but it's like he's cursed in CL. We'll just have to see what happens.

Excellent comment by Conte after the game:

"If we can play esthetically better its good, otherwise its important to get the title. The scudetto is too important & hasnt been won for long. If wed be the ones to take it from juve wed have done a great thing. Then well all get plastic surgery to look better"

We haven't a trophy in TEN years. We haven't Scudetto in ELEVEN years. Beggars can't be choosers. If we can win Scudetto, you don't complain about the style. We need to get the winning mentality. Build on top of that and THEN we can start thinking about the style aspects.

Those style aspects are relevant when we want to start getting results in Europe.

LOL. Love that comment, very Conte-esque. Sig worthy!

I completely agree, of course. I love watching great football, but it is more important to win the Scudetto. I would much rather win every time playing ugly football, than lose playing beautiful football.

If you want to be entertained, go to the circus... or maybe watch eredivisie.

You've also got to do it right. Look at those morons over in Turin, they fired Allegri and got Sarri and then Pirlo to play 'liquid football', and well, they must be getting pretty cold at down there at -12.

With Conte we might not have 70% possesion and Kroos/KDB/Thiago spraying through balls, but usually we're in front of the opposition keeper within 4-5 passes.

    It's brutal, effective, football.

Yeah. The possession stats were like 66% to Sassuolo. Yet who got better scoring chances? We scored two, they scored one. After those, we got maybe 2 best chances of the match, Sass got nothing but that Boga chance at the 1st half which Skriniar blocked eventually (chance was worse than those 2 we had).

Sometimes I don't get you guys, and I don't mean that as an insult, just general curiosity. For as long as I can remember this club has never been known for playing attractive football, in fact I would probably say quite the opposite. None of us are being forced to support this club or watch the games, so if you feel it's a waste of time I might suggest watching some other team that fits what you want. I'm not saying you can't support Inter, because I would never tell someone that, but I know I'm never going to turn on the channel and see some Guardiola or Bielsa style football unless they're here themselves. Inter has never been that.

I also want to add that I find the way we're so good at setting ourselves up defensively and counterattacking entertaining at times. It's definitely a "to each their own" mentality but I've never expected a free-flowing attacking side from an Inter game. We're not winning due to individual brilliance and I think that's clear, we're winning because the team has a great mentality now and plays like a well organized unit.

But I do think wins are to always be celebrated. Especially a win that brings us closer to a 19th scudetto. Forza Inter!

I think the reason why we are being so defensive is because of our desire to win the league. I think conte is trying to maintain our lead in the league and reduce the risk of collapsing, this is why we are this. Like someone said, our defensiveness starts immediately we take the lead in a match. Concentration is the greatest key to winning a long of run matches and winning the league ,and by our level of maturity, we lack that concentration to play attacking football continuously, it generally takes a lot of time in growth to be winning a long run of matches playing attacking football than defensively. After all this is just the 2nd year with conte. Besides, conte was not playing defensive football since he came up until we took the lead in the table, we were the 2nd best scorers in the league last season and the best this season up until this run of defensive football.
If you guys remember correctly, one of our main problems last season and the beginning of this season was that we blew away a lot of clear cut chances in almost every match. Given this problem, if to win the league is the main objective, then one shouldn't play a more attacking football, logically. cuz we will end up drawing and losing matches while biting our fingers. If I am correct, maybe this is the reason why conte reverted to this kind of football, "achieve the lead first then defend it". And in my own view any sensible person or coach should do the same given that winning the league is the only way to save oneself after losing the coppa and ucl group stages. However this should be a short-term approach just to winning the league this year and I hope that conte thinks the same and will revert to his initial system, but if otherwise, I.e if he sees it as our main tactics and permanent solution then we won't get anywhere in the league next season let alone in european competition, coz very soon even teams in serie a will realise our single-dimensional game and it will be easy to undermine.

Just watching the team when they press together, as fast as one player puts pressure then 2-3 more follows him. Its fucking beautiful and its not all about how you attack but also how you for example defend or work as a unit. I can't believe people following this team and this league for over 20 years but have no pleasure watching our defensive tactics?

For me personal, I think how our defense style was in 2010 was fucking beautiful. Maybe this is also why my favorite Inter player right now is a defender.

inter have been a brutal watch lately but I want this title at all costs. We can start worrying about style of play once the mentality improves.

I'm not one of the ones who thinks counter-attacking play can't work in Europe-- it's very effective against certain teams. It just wont work against every team, which is why (ahem) we need a "plan B." And ideally one that doesn't rely on rapid counter attacks.
