Actually he tried to be involved and did nothing wrong but no final product. Much better than Lautaro thou. I cannot judge by only one game but looks like they lost connection between.

I thought he had a couple nice passes and a good header on goal. He was also physically abused all game long. There were several instances where Koulibaly just rugby tackled him instead of trying to play the ball, which is an amazing testament to Lukaku's strength.

Him and Martinez basically had zero attacking combination play all match long, which is probably why they both had subpar matches.

They need to give him the ball to run against defenders more. He is a beast when he gets some space to run at defenders.

It's funny how this phrase assumes that everyone has seen a duck let alone water bouncing off its back

That's insane, I bet brehme is sitting down studying everything to do with this now and will be reborn tomorrow with 100gb extra information about ducks tomorrow.

Man, that miss... Very good player overall, but if only he were a little less clumsy...

My username has nothing to do with the player of liverpool fc, it is a reference to an Italian novel.

His link up today was great for both goals. Unfortunately he missed two chances that he really should have buried and even the goal he scored he shot straight at the goalkeeper but luckily went under him. I know he's a bit rusty like everyone else but needs to improve his finishing as he does this a lot and it's getting annoying as we could have killed the game off instead of shitting our pants again.

He should have iced the game early in the 2nd half. That’s what world class strikers do for their teams. Romelu is very good but there is obviously still a level up before he can be considered truly top level. He’s still got some development ahead of him, so perhaps he can reach those levels under a coach like Conte who believes in him. A lot of strikers peak around 28-32.

Yeah, he simply needs to keep training that finishing. Zlatan kept doing it back then he grew to be a very good scorer. Though Romelu is already 27, but he should keep going on.

There has been and will be a lot of games where he needs to bury those chances.

The difference is that Lukaku is a physical player that relies on his explosiveness a lot. And that goes away sooner rather than later.

His link-up play was quite good yesterday but his finishing...My god a player like him should get at least 8/10 shots ON target, that shouldn't be to hard to train. I thought it was Eto'o who said he trained hours and hours and just getting shots on target. The keeper can make mistakes, the ball can deflect etc etc. Is it lack of concentration or just lack of skills when he misses chances like yesterday?

Yes, he does well on attacking space and defenders, his pass to Candreva on future-position was beautiful (1:44).

This game sums up Lukaku so well. He will miss sitters but he will score you goals and win you games (against weak teams).

1:31 + 2:44 are chances he has to score in Italy!

Big Rom needs to improve his finishing, focus and maintain his concentration levels throughout the match if he wants to be a world class striker. I mean even on the goal, he did not place it at all, better keeper would have saved it. He should probably consider Haaland`s advice on meditation

Yeah people thought that about Drogba too but he was still a beast into his mid 30s.

Tbf to Drogba, he was technically brilliant player. Probably best player in PL era when it comes to hold up play. The way he used his physical strength was second to none and apart from that his first touch was very good.

I don't think Lukaku will age as gracefully but he will still score goals. Lukaku still doesn't use his strength properly as he lacks balance. Very rarely he bullies CBs using his strength. For a player of his size he should be more aggressive when it comes to duels.
