Reminds me of the Chris Rock skit

We're essentially giving him credit for the bare minimum. Like a routine Handa save or headed clearance by DeVrij away from danger. I think Kaku managed one shot on goal, a tame header right into Merets hands.

A small snippet I really enjoyed from the game due to the fact that there are no crowd and you can hear the players was just before half time, we were on a counter with Lukaku making a run and Brozo with the ball near the centre, he was being pressured and had his eyes on the ball then Lukaku screams at him twice "BROZO" to let him know he's making a run and he wants a pass, Brozo kindly obliges and assumes where he'll be in his head and passes it. Of course the pass was shit and was easily intercepted but I love how communication was key there and it's something we rarely get to see/notice in football (one of the biggest reasons I love following some e-Sports is that I can hear their communication and how it hugely impacts plays).

As in the city of Milan, of course.

Big Rom had an immense game today. A lot of his work is sometimes under appreciated here. He was a great presence upfront and the focal point for all our attacks, help up the ball well and had good link up play. MOTM tonight for me, though Young and Brozovic also had great games.

thought his 2nd half was a little lacking, but agree.

I have to say. I was always against selling icardi. But lukaku has shown how important it is to have a striker who can score and link up play as well. No surprise now we've scored so much more goals than recent seasons. Great signing.

MOTM? Agree with you about his needed presence in attack, it's why Rube are currently linked with Milik, but Kaku was one of our worst players tonight. Dispossessed quite a number of times and losing control of simple passes, quite a few missed passes as well. Conte commented the same post game. And again this worrying trend of not impacting in big games.

Talk about under appreciated, what about our defence tonight, I expected 4/5 goals but we looked comfortable against the mighty Atalanta for 90 minutes. I think they registered only one shot on target?

He had a good season. He leaves something to be desired because it's clear there's an extra gear that he doesn't understand how to switch to. If you separate the potential from the performances I have few complaints. This is a difficult league to adjust to. The performances against bigger clubs will hopefully come next season.

Really played a vital role today. All in all a very good season. Hope he can be more clinical with his shot next season, but him taking the penalty kicks was awesome. Well done big guy!

He had a real workman's performance against Atalanta, lots of hard work with little reward.

That said, his link up play is overrated here. Maybe it's because we're so used to the "don't you dare pass it to me unless I can score with the final touch" former captain of ours, that anything seems like a breeze of fresh air by comparison.

Lukaku certainly has greater tendency for link up play. That is to say, he is more naturally inclined to play in that fashion. That's admirable and very useful. But the common criticisms that guys like n4l and brehme make towards Lukaku are 100% accurate too.

He is very inconsistent, if not outright poor, when it comes to anticipation. While he has better games here and there like today, all in all it's way too easy for a defender to stick a foot in and block a forward pass to Lukaku before he even thinks to try and shield the ball. As others have mentioned, you can see that he often has a good ideas to involve teammates but often lacks the finesse to execute these ideas very consistently.

He's definitely more naturally inclined towards teamwork than the forward(s) we've been accustomed to over the past few years but he's no Benzema or Suarez or anything.

I wish he'd stop screaming at his teammates and gesticulating exasperatedly when the ball fails to reach him though. Shut up, and get back onside.

Transfermarkt updated it 74M. Seems like 9M of that bonus was activated since the season is now over and clearly the bonuses didn't include Europe League
