Only idiots claim that Icardi is better than everyone and only idiots manage to always bring up Icardi in every conversation. Dude is gone, let it go.

for me, it’s really simple, I couldn’t give 2 fucks about Lukaku’s performance against San Marino. Belgium should be beating nations like that anyway so the fact he performed well, for me, is meaningless.

It’s like someone saying, “messi did great against San Marino” because of course he is going to/ should do.

I’m glad he’s been able to return earlier as it means Conte can spend more time working with him to better prepare him for higher calibre opposition.

Because he choked in the UCL final vs Barca? Prime Henry was easily a top 3 player in the world. Between 2002-05 was a joy to watch - absolutely mesmerizing at times.

Henry rarely showed up in big games as he was hyped to do. He made a name for himself scoring hatricks against Charlton, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough in Highbury. Just check his highest scoring seasons and you'll notice a trend.

He obviously had his big moments, he was a highly technical player with great acceleration, but his career was quite underwhelming given the hype.

As for the international game, you could only claim "world class" in Euro 2000 but that whole France team was stacked. The one time everyone's eyes was on him with high expectations, he failed to lead France out of a group with Senegal, Denmark and Uruguay.

Lukaku is quite similar but he's had a much harder time in big fixtures. And he cannot claim to have played against minnows as much because he was usually playing for one with the exception of Belgium and Man Utd (he barely played for Chelsea). His Anderlecht years are too early to make a statement out of anything.

Totti reminds me of Anderlecht Lukaku.

Wouldnt scoring against great teams be difficult because great teams are more difficult to score a against?

That's why you spend money. To buy players that can perform better against more teams.

Individual games won't define player's careers though (unless it's to elevate player's legacy), Henry was superb player and he wasn't big game choker too. He used to tear us apart and that was when we were good under SAF. He used to tear apart most top teams in the league.

Yup i did say i agreed with him, and with you for that matter.

But its not this one game though, its about his whole career in Europe with Arsenal.

    EDIT

Also he literally missed sitters in both games in finals, i know it happens but you cant say that in big games he was decisive, In he EPL he prob was but we are taking mainly here about cup competitions.

I wouldn't call that header against Gala a sitter. Wenger was tactically naive when it came to European games.
Those chances against Barca though that was a complete choke job

To Henrys credit, Taffarel was in goal.

It was a good header and a better save.

Henry vs Barcelona and in the first CL final vs Man Utd looked less dangerous than Pazzini on the other hand.
You could say that he was injured before the 2009 final but given that he started the game and was subbed quite late I think that's redundant.

That's why Totti remained at Roma.

It fits in because we are discussing the best forwards ever, and considering Lukaku is an 85M player, the discussion is relevant, it can be moved to the general football discussion though.
