The timing of this Arthur transfer is curious. Barca have 2 days before the 111m release clause for Martinez expires for a year.

2 days? Depending on the source the clause is active from 1st of July till 7th of 15th of July.

Timing of that sale is purely tied to fiscal year ending in June and Barcelona needs plusvalenza to their books. Nothing more than that. Lautaro has nothing to do with Arthur sale. Transfers fees in and out are not additive.

Imo Arthur would be younger (so better in long terms + higher resale value) but atm Pjanic is offering more. Arthur is better at keeping possession (explaining why Sarri approves this deal). But Pjanic is way superior in long passing and dead ball specialist. Juve is replacing their best midfielder, big gamble.
This deal was made with financial consideration first, then sporting ones... Both clubs were desperate to book a capitan gain, so there you have it. Arthur clearly stated he does not want to leave Barcelona (party life) but italian mob shut him up by making him earn around 3 times more than his Barca contract. I would be reserved regarding a player that did not want to initially join...

Good opportunity for juBentus to get rid of aging Pjanic AND get Arthur in the process. Smart deal IMO, unfortunately I see Arthur performing well in Serie A under the right guidance (and protection from the refs). But as someone else pointed this out on FIF, Arthur is young and has resale value, but juBentus will eventually get in its own way with these inflated evaluations...

Like they have payed €37m for Danilo in the Cancelo-related deal, but his current worth is only €16m, so it will be very difficult to get rid of him while not producing a loss.

You are right. Just checked, the clause expires on 7th July according to Marotta. So 9 days.

Yeah, of course this deal with inflated valuations is about cooking up the books for both clubs. But once the books are cooked up, that may give Barca the leverage to think about Martinez. Though Martinez is trying his best to discourage them with his recent performances.

Arthur-Bentancur as a double pivot with a CAM playing ahead of them would be a great midfield for Juve, but they seem settled in their 4-3-3 with Sarri so one of Rabiot/Matuidi/Khedira/Ramsay will play alongside those two.

Jesus that’s a lot of wages for not a whole lot of quality there.

There were rumous about Immobile and Newcastle in case the takeover is completed.

Benevento are trying to make some interesting moves. They have alreaddy signed Loic Remy and they're in talks for Glik and Schurrle.

I'd say there is absolutely 0.5% chance Immobile would go to Newcastle in case the takeover is completed. Not worth mentioning that possible move in any list IMO.

Arthur is a party animal. Remind me of Nainggolan, I think he flops hard.

Osimhen is a talent for sure. I thought we might be linked to him as a potential Lautaro replacement.

Saw him in the Belgian league, Osimhen, very pacy and skilled attacker. Not surprising he's rising up very quickly. Doubt he'll have much use of his pace in Serie A. Rumoured price was 80m, but reckon it'll be 40+ bonuses or so.

Contract with JEEP expired? Anyway, why the heck would anyone care?

    Juve-City starlet swap done

Juventus have completed their swap deal to sign Felix Correia, with Pablo Moreno heading to Manchester City in exchange. Sky Sport Italia and Romeo Agresti both report the contracts have been signed and only official confirmation is pending.

It will be a straight swap, with both players valued at around €10m. Correia, 19, is a right winger who plays for Portugal Under-19s and spent last season on loan at AZ.

Moreno, a year younger, is a centre-forward for Spain at youth level and was also wanted by former club Barcelona.

IIRC Arthur Melo had firslty been linked to us as a part of Lautao's deal. Even i've read information that Inter approved him but Barca and player rejected. Then after had appeared rumours for Jubentus. So, is it possible Marrotta just to threw some dust in Jube's eyes with this guy?
