I think that midfield lacks a player with an eye fir the goal. I'd be interested to see SMS - Tonali - Barella.
Ajax just thrashed Juve!! Fuck whoever uses the 'experience' excuse for signing bunch of mediocre 30+ year olds who do nothing other than laying in the treatment room and demanding high wages.

I must've missed something. When did this Tonali deal cross the line from "in the works" to "done deal"?

In the news, aroubd 36-48 hours ago, depending on the source.

I have wanted Tonali at Inter for over a year now, I think he has great potential. You can see that when he plays, he always seems to have a second or two extra on the ball like great players. That can't be taught. I guess I rate Tonali higher than most here.

That said, he is still a kid. The best I expect out of him next season is being an understudy to Brozovic. If it takes him 1-2 years to become a starter at Inter, we must allow him that time. So please keep your expectations low for next season. This is a buy for the future, not for next season. Tonali will not improve our starting midfield immediately, he is too raw and inexperienced and his end product is still lacking as is expected for his age.

for the money, i expect he will play a noticeable role in 20/21 - im not expecting him to come in as a starter or anything, to be clear. If he can replace Gags' minutes, ill be more than happy

Well we must be in parallel universes because at best he' in the top 10, probably more like top 20.

I honestly can't understand how you're rating him so much, he's really nothing special yet, he's constantly out-muscled off the ball, his passing it's nothing to write home about, a decent dribbler nothing more, defensively he's average at best, he rarely gets in scoring positions, good shooting, awful aerial play, vision it's OK, he's constantly fucking our counters, for now at least the only impressive things it's his hustle and his work-rate.

Tonali and Barella can't play together, both are subpar defensively, Tonali has to play beside Brozović of the players we have in the squad.

It would never work, you need at least one midfielder that's good defensively, Brozović would have to play.

Locatelli would be great at that spot, but it's probably gonna be Brozović. And I'll drop Barella for Zaniolo, since we need some offense too.

    Again no one defends here.

I agree with the first part of your post, not the second.

The second Tonali touches Appiano he'll immediately be our 2nd best central midfielder (DMs and CMs) behind Brozović, also Tonali isn't that similar to Brozović if you want someone in the mold of Brozo look at Locatelli.

Sure, they are all technical midfielders but Tonali is nowhere as good defensively as Brozović and Locatelli, so if you put Tonali in Brozo's place you'll have to give him a lot of cover, Tonali would complement Brozo really well but I don't think he can play in his place.

I really think you're overrating brozos defense him and barella are pretty similar in defending.

Yeah, which is high work rate but often caught out of position and needing to make ill advised tackles in poor areas.

Any news on whether or not we are actually close to signing him? ‘Reports’ said Monday even but it’s Monday evening and the smell of BS is strong!

You can never know with super talented youngsters. Veratti and Zaniolo shined right from the block.

It's done. Maybe they wait next week. Sanchez signing after Getafe-match, then Tonali next week?
