“Atletico Madrid invested heavily to ensure they’d play the Final in their own stadium. They might not look like they are playing good football, but we all know full well how Diego Simeone sees it.

“He has talented strikers who can make the difference and that is why I think Juve are just as likely to win the Champions League as go out before the quarter-finals.”

    Simeone investigated for Juve gesture

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is being investigated for his explicit gesture against Juventus, while the Bianconeri could be punished for a late start.

UEFA confirmed on Monday that disciplinary proceedings had been opened against Atleti for blocked stairways at Wanda MetroPolitano, throwing of objects and improper conduct, relating to his crotch-grab celebration after his side took the lead last week.

Its statement added Juve were also being probed for a late kick-off during their 2-0 defeat to the Spaniards, as was Coach Max Allegri.

However, Simeone may avoid a touchline ban for the trip to Turin on March 12 as UEFA failed to confirm when its Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body would deal with the case.

The former Inter and Lazio midfielder caused controversy with his celebration after Atleti had gone a goal up in their Champions League last-16 first leg, turning towards the fans at the Metropolitano and grabbing his crotch.

Italian player off for Simeone gesture

A Serie D player has been sent off for emulating Diego Simeone’s explicit celebration against Juventus.

Prato striker Riccardo Moreo celebrated his winner against Viareggio on Sunday by grabbing his crotch in front of supporters like Simeone did last week.

However, the referee was not as forgiving as Felix Zwayer was during Juve’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16 last week, showing the striker a straight red card.

CalcioNews24 reports the official was following the letter of the law in sending off Moreo, who began his career with Milan.

Fortunately for Prato, they held on for a 2-1 victory in the absence of their top goalscorer.

There is a bigger picture out there. Allegri's approach for this game made it easier for Ronaldo to score goals. That's his job, to seek solutions to exploit and win games. Atletico thought they could hold their defence.. so Juve waited for Atletico to get back, defend in numbers and started pumping crosses in for Mandžo and Ronaldo.

Sure, having one of the best players in the world helps, but it's not like Atletico doesn't have an amazing cast of players too. It's a shame they didn't convert more in the first game....

Allegri used that magic tactic. It's called having better players than Atletico. He also used a magic potion that made the referee do whatever he wanted.

Not at all. Didn't Allegri have better players in the first leg also?

It was all decided in the aproach of the game. Allegri wanted to win, Simeone was aiming to conclude his result and defended for the most part. Ronaldo was shit in the first game, but today all their players gave everything and Ronaldo soared. Their mentality was their strong asset. Hands down to Allegri and the whole team.

Simeone had done what Spalletti did against PSV. Plain and simple.
    I met Zanetti, you suckers!

I give Allegri credit; he was up 2-0 and continued to turn the screw by subbing on Keane and Dybala. A lot of Italian managers would have been hesitant to put more attackers on the pitch at this point.

When was the last time Simeone won a trophy?

2014 Liga in that case. They did win the Supercopa that year as well. No other domestic trophies that I can think of.

He was a huge let down yesterday. Atleti didn't have a plan B and plan A was horribly executed.

He's still the coach who has won la Liga, which is a major feat nowadays with any team other than Real Madrid or Barcelona. Not to mention the Europa League.

But being so heavily monothematic will hurt his teams more and more in the future.
My username has nothing to do with the player of liverpool fc, it is a reference to an Italian novel.

He's in a league with Real and Barcelona and managed to win a league.
