Inter Milan are carefully planning a strategic move that they hope will enable them to acquire Roma forward Antonio Cassano.
The Nerazzurri are desperate to get hold of the player during the summer for coach Roberto Mancini, and have identified David Pizarro as the linchpin to complete the signing. Although having been a target for Inter over the past few months, club president Massimo Moratti is prepared to use the creative midfielder in order to acquire Cassano.
Inter will purchase Pizarro and then offer him to Roma along with Ze Maria and Julio Cruz in order to get Cassano. Roma are definitely interested in the Chilean, however their financial situation does not allow them to make a bid for the player.
The Roma board must now weigh up whether they are willing to accept such a deal, as Cassano’s contract is due to expire next year, and it is believed he may be holding out for a Bosman transfer next season.
