The most unlikely football bet to come off
Back in January, Internazionale trailed Sampdoria 2-0 with two minutes left of their Serie A clash. "With maximum odds of 1000 against (the equivalent of 999-1) available, the price was snapped up by a Berkshire man," says Betfair spokesman, Tony Calvin. "Then Obafami Martins scored in the 88th minute, before Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba won the game for Inter in injury-time. The punter had scooped almost a grand for his £1 staked. Our previous high was 'only' a winning bet at 550 (549-1) on the draw, when a Cameroon side came back from 5-0 down to finish 5-5 against Portugal at the U17 World Championships in 2003."

Likewise Franco Baresi.... :redface:Originally Posted by I Love Inter!
Look at the bright side of it, he has no connection with us now. This guy makes Capello look look hip and cool, boring as a player, and as a coach, not to mention he is defensive to the core.
Did you know his brother Guiseppe played for Inter and is now part of the back room staff?Originally Posted by catanha

The Baresi story, from a mutual view, is really heart-warming. I know we're all inter fans and it sucks for us but look at it from a human perspective.
Franco and Giuseppe were raised in an orphanage if I'm not wrong, after their parents died when they were little. They both supported inter but when Franco was seen as 'useless' he went to Milan and became a legend.
It just shows, no matter what you go through you can still pull through and do amazing things. Franco went from a hard childhood to being rejected by the club he loved, to becoming a legend for his childhood club's main rivals.
Wow, I never knew that. It's an amazing story though!

I thought they were adopted and lived with that family until they grew up. I may be wrong though. Because I remember a famous Giuseppe story where they were having dinner with their parents etcOriginally Posted by primo-inter
