Makaay never has/had the chance to play regularly with the Netherland. Personally, I prefer him to RVN. Makaay did well wherever he went, and unlike RVN, he can get the ball, and score outside the 18-box.

He did great in LaLiga, CL, and Bundesliga. He is one of the most underrated strikers in the world, and he is quiet, and never make a fuss.

Mackay is a damm good player , and at d moment he is better than Ronaldo

that where d point is -->> AT THE MOMENT not when Ronaldo was at his prime

Mackay plays lesser matches in d Bundesliga , yet he scored more than Ronaldo who plays for a team who r hell-bent on attacking

and Mackay scores his goals for a lesser attacking team ...

u may call Bundesliga a lesser league but thatz only bcoz there is no 2 big team like Barca - Real inSpain , Ars-Clelski-ManU in EPL , or in d seie A

but other teams are at par with d rest of these leagues ,

ni forget it the bundesliga is never as strong as seri a ore epl ore la liga there are 10 more ore less good teams and the rest is shit
U ll see how high the level of bundesliga is when u look at the end of season at the goals tomasson scored i bet he ll marke more than 20
Which matches do you feel more, those with Juventus or Milan?

Gosh Kova, Sheva is no Inzaghi, look at his goals in Serie A and CL, goals in big games, all sorts, headers, free kicks, runs, finishes. It's undeniable.

are you f-cking kidding me? How can Shevchenko be rated ahead of Henry and Makaay? and more importantly ----- Eto'o, Gilardino and Forlan!!!!!! Players like Eto'o and Forlan can't make your list? Then it's a joke of a list. You can't say it was 'ratings of 2004-2005 season' when Shevchenko was injured for a lot and played shit a lot anyway. Even Ibrahimobitch played better.

    oh....... my ....... god........

end of discussion. It's not worth talking about who the top 5 strikers were in 04/05 when the GOLDEN BOOT WINNER isn't even included.

    Get a grip my friend.

Forlan had a phenomenal season, and won the golden boot, but he isn't on of the best strikers of 04/05.

Forlan is good in alot of things, but can't create alot on his own, unlike Henry/Sheva etc. Forlan benefited from another player who had a great season, Riquelme.

If the job of strikers is to score goals, and Forlan is Europe's top scorer, then HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST STRIKERS IN 04/05.

Hamed I know you like disagreeing with almost everything I say but this time, face it, I'm right. Most people who have half a brain would agree.

Anyway here are my 5 best strikers of 04/05, without putting in a great deal of thought here's what I came up with.

    1. Henry - topscorer in EPL and scored some in the CL too
    2. Forlan - golden boot winner
    3. Eto'o - came up with a lot of goals and played well all season.
    4. Makaay - top scorer in EPL behind RvN and scored regularly for Bayern too.
    5. Gilardino - scored a lot for Parma and almost single-handedly saved them from relegation.

Forlan is a necessity. If he isn't included then it just shows how you all insist on naming 'BIG NAME' strikers. Forlan was awesome, face it.

Yes he was awesome, and therefore he should be named but, he is not that great a striker and far from the best. I'll bet on that he is nothing else then a one season wonder. And he still has to do well in European competition before you can put him in the second place. And you also have to keep in mind that La Liga is the easiest league (of the best) to score in.

I would say that none of them is the best, of that simple reason that every one of them has some strengths and weaknesses. For example Nistelrooy and Maakay is better finisher then the rest, but Sheva, Adriano, Ronaldo and Henry is better in everything else you could say that they are more complete players, so without a doubt they are the best players because they are more complete as a footballer, but they might not be the best strikers since a strikers job is to score goals and nothing else. So it all come up to what you rate highest the amount of goals a player score or his abilities. In my opinion you have to consider both aspects, so it excludes Nistelrooy and Maakay since they are not very complete. Adriano can be excluded as well he simply scores to few goals. Then we have Sheva, Ronado and Henry left and I canít really say which one of them who is the best.

players like Gillardino a very good finisher but has the same problem as Makaay and Nistelrooy. Robinh and Tervez should not be forgotten but they are still not in the same level as those above.

Someone would might name Ibrahimovic, Crespo, Eto, Drogba, Tresequet, Inzaghi, Totti and Cassano and of cause none of them should be forgotten but none of them can be considered as the best.

if u judge strikers by d number of goals they score then Lucarelli is better than Shevchenkho or Adriano ... surely primo u r not saying that !

Actually...I would still put Ruud ahead of Makaay. Ruud has better skills with the ball and can also play better moving to the flanks. Inside the box he is just as good or even better than Makaay. Plus he also plays fine when left all alone.

It's a difficult question to answer.

Eto'o is my current favourite. He also has impressive stats on the importance of his goals, his 25 goals scored last season brought us 39 points = he scored when it was important. However, he misses too many chances and his heading is not the best.

Dynamite is certainly among the best too. He has everything a modern forward needs. he is powerful, good foot skills, good defending, etc.

Henry has problems against tight defenders and isn't a master in sneaking in goals. but he got style.

Sheva is really great. But at times he seems to have nerve problems.

Zlatan is also fine, yet as cruyff says, he does difficult stuff easily and easy stuff difficult.

If I had to make a list today, I would maybe say

    1. Van Nistelrooy
    2. Sheva
    3. Adriano
    4. Eto'o
    5. Henry

certainly, time is with Adriano, Eto'o and Zlatan and I think in 1-2 years these 3 will be the best.
But currently, I give the edge to Ruud.....simply for being some sort of a killer.

When it comes to goal-scoring alone, I personally think that Ruud is, albeit over-rated by few, under-rated by many. Obviously, he hasn't been at his best over the past 2 seasons due to injuries and poor form but the first 2 seasons he spent in Man Utd and his record at PSV just speaks volume about his goal-scoring record. I personally can't recall a striker who managed to score 100 goals for the club in just 2 1/2 years. It's just unbelievable.

And yes, he scored tons of tap-ins or close range headers but when it comes to scoring goal, the most crucial task for every strikers, it is quality over quantity and there is hardly anyone better than Ruud.

At current Bundesliga rate though, Makaay has just been astonishing as he score 50 goals in just 67 matches.

If I were to do a list on the most complete and best overall striker in the world, this would be my list, in descending order:
    1. Andriy Shevchenko
    2. Thierry Henry
    3. Adriano
    4. Alberto Gilardino
    5. Samuel Eto'o

    Handyo
