    MATIAS ALMEYDA VISITS APPIANO
    Tuesday, 20 September 2005 13:27:42
MILAN - It was a great pleasure to see Matias Almeyda at Angelo Moratti Sports Centre this morning. The Argentine midfielder, who played for Inter from 2002 to 2004, greeted Roberto Mancini and his team-mates, and watched them train ahead of tomorrow evening's match against Chievo.

Or that stupid behaviour in snatching the red card from the referee after he was sent off against Lazio in Olimpico in 03/04, breaking our 6 match winning run.

Anyways, nice to see Matias in Appiano. Not one of the greats but hey!

Nice to see him back, I remember a banner from a Lazio fan saying, "We want 11 Almeyda's".

Come on Bdragon, he was tremendous for us before he broke his leg.
There was a reason why Laziale loved him so much you know, even though he went pyscho on Corradi.

One of my all time favortie players! I just miss him so much. He left the field too soon and it really hurts how a player with such a quality would have had a destiny like this! I don't have any news about him now, dunno what's he doing and where is he now. Any special, new and rare information about him would be appreciated here.

He has signed for Norwegian top league club Lyn from Oslo. What a choice.

    Almeyda and Di Biagio...
Do you guys remember the days when we had Matias and Luigi as our central midfield duo? Talk about gritty and determined characters. Quite often, it was not very pretty but they had tremendous courage.

Prior to 02/03, his last season with us, Di Biagio was pretty good. But God, the last memories I had of him was Luigi walking around on the field doing everything half-as$sedly. He was wearing the please-sell-me-tag. It was horrible.

Almeyda was never that good but he wasn't too bad. I'll never forget his legendary performance on 29 Nov 03, when he dominated Juve midfield, paving the way for a memorable 1-3 memory at the Delle Alpi.

Funny though George, that you complimented these two but criticized Emre. Because in 02/03, Emre did things that Di Biagio and Almeyda can't match during their whole Inter career combined.

there is a big differance between almeyda,di biaggio and emre.

Emre is a playmaker while the other 2 are pure defensive midfielders,to this day the 3 of them are between my fav players that played for inter.

Hahah Almeyda. I remember him getting red card, on his way out Lazio fans startet trowing things at him, and he took it from the ground and trew it back at them. He was warior, but didn't impress in Inter. Anyway, after that incident, he was gone. I don't remember if he ever played after that (for Inter).

    This is from wikipedia;
After one and a half years away from football, in which he represented Argentina in a Showball tour around the world alongside Diego Maradona and participated in the Indoor Football World Cup in Spain, Almeyda decided to get back into the game. On 26 March 2007 he signed for the Norwegian Premiership club F.C. Lyn Oslo, and made his debut on 13 May, coming on as a substitute. Almeyda played regularly on the reserve team and in the Norwegian Cup, but was only fielded in one more league game, again as a substitute. On 26 June, Almeyda reached a mutual agreement with Lyn and the contract was terminated.

Wow, he really must love football, or have some serious financial problems since he wanted to play for some damn Norwegian club!!

Haha! He was a complete failure at Lyn. Odd really because the midfielders Lyn had weren't that great. He came here with another Argentinian I can't remember. 36 of age or something. It was thanks to a decent South America scout from Norway Almeyda ended up at Lyn.

He was a legend with Las Palmas. Couldn't believe my eyes last year when I found out that him and Almeyda played in freaking Norway.
