Former referee Pierluigi Collina has finally revealed which Italian team has a special place in his heart.
The ex-official had previously, and understandably, opted not to make public which team he supported.
However, he has today admitted that he’s been a big fan of capital giants Lazio for some time.
"I followed Bologna when I was a boy, but then I turned to Lazio because they had Giuseppe Wilson playing for them who I was mad for," he stated.
But Collina was quick to outline that his ‘allegiance’ to the Biancocelesti had no effect on his decision making during their games.
"Lazio didn’t win any of the first 10 games in which I officiated them," continued the man who was widely regarded as the world’s best.
Meanwhile, Collina also criticised current rules which deny referees from taking charge of matches in their home town.
"I would like the referees to be treated liked players," continued the Viarreggio-based individual.
"When Walter Zenga left Inter for Sampdoria, nobody thought that he would do anything to help the Nerazzurri in games between the two," he concluded.

Collina was the referee of the famous Perugia-Juve of the last day of the 99/00 season that saw us leap over Juve. Now we'll never hear the end of Gobbi bitching and moaning about how they had a Lazio fan conducting that game. And that makes that Scudetto all the more sweeter!![]()
