Rather than best of all times, one shud look and judge a player during the duration of his days of watching soccer.

Like, who is the best keeper of the 90's?

some of the sweetest saves i've seen came from Schmeichel, he turned United into a title winning team.. Seaman was good, but towards the end he majorly sucked - I never will forget the day he discovered Ronaldinho..

Yeah Schmeichel is the best I've ever seen for me too.

But from what I've heard, lots of people consider Lav Jashin as the best. He was a russian keeper from the 60's. He was nicknamed The Spider. Never seen him though...

The greatest keeper to ever grace this earth was Lev Yashin.

Lev Yashin is the only goalkeeper ever to win the European Footballer of the Year Award. He is also believed to have blocked around 150 penalty kicks during his career; far more than any other goalkeeper in history. When asked for his secret, he would say the trick was "to have a smoke to calm your nerves, then toss back a strong drink to tone your muscles."

FIFA polls placed Yashin in the "Century XI" team, and also named him 'World - Keeper of the Century' ahead of Gordon Banks, Dino Zoff etc..

Yes Helal, everybody knows about the amazing Russian Giant Lev Yashin however we have to rely on accounts from other people and sources. I was going to say him but i've never seen the man play. Who is the best goalkeeper you've ever seen mate?

Best I've seen: P. Schmeichel and Sergio Goycochea (during WC 1990)
Best I have not seen: Gilmar, Brazil's GK during those great Pele times.

Thank god someone mentioned Gilmar, he was the rock behind a very average defence, he was so unlucky because by the time the first great brasilian defender arrived in Carlos Alberto, Gilmar retired the previous year.

Yashin was the best but he always had brain explosions, the bets was Yashin but the most consistent was Zoff.

i caught Schmeichel towards the end of his career ... so i wont vote for him.

Rather i wud say Iker Casillas is the best among current crop of keepers ... last 2-3 seasons he has been on fire. Without his heroics, Real cud have been relegated.

I would have said the same, but I have never seen him, just as I have not seen Dino Zoff and Gilmar so if I have to pick one who I have seen the it will clearly be Zenga.

yeah Schmeichel was very good, and one of the best when he played at Manchester (****ing) United, but he was not as good as Zenga was at his peak. but I am very proud that Denmark has had one of the best. he defiantly get the second place in the ranking of the best goalie I have seen.

    Wonder if I can

For me the best goalie I've ever seen is Jorge Campos - Mexican national player.

From Slovakian goalkeepers I consider Alexander Vencel as the best - he spent most of his career in France. He is still active (of course in France) but he is only well payed substitute.

Kampos was good, but he was more flashy than a good GK.

Mikkel, I don't know if you remember Euro92, when Schmeiched and co. beat Germany. I bet that is one of your best moments ever Man, I was so shocked and depressed that day!

About Gilmar, I have never seen him either. But like I said, he is one of those that you don't have to see to appreciate. All those Pele and Garnicha years where Brazil was flashy and offensive, he was the rock at the back.

In case of Schmeichel - I read in Pro Football that he has talented son (of course goalkeeper).
