    Gnutella

Yes, I'm talking about Gnutella clients such as Ares, LimeWire and BearShare. I am having a problem whereby I just can't connect these softwares! I am using cable and with no proxy, I believe. Also, I have set it such that my Windows XP SP2 firewall will not obstruct these softwares' activities. I have no other firewall and I've tried re-installing the softwares too.

Anyone knows what should I do? Thanx in advance.

Did any significant event (hardware or software-wise) occur prior to your inability to connect to these programs?

It sounds like a firewall problem.

Does your isp happened to block the ports of p2p softwares? <--that's pretty g@y, but I know some isps do that to their customers.

Do you use a router to connect to your cable modem? If so, did you open the ports in it?

Not hardware. As for software, this problem has occured before but it usually disappeared after a day or after I reinstall the programs. But it's still here now. I'm taking the risk of temporarily turning off my firewall everytime I wanna get a song.

No idea if my ISP does that but I highly doubt so. Tim, any idea? And no, I don't use router.

Yah I am having the same problems han. But I did recelty put in a router so that might be the problem.

The problem i have is that it takes forever to connect then when I do get on the network it takes forever to get any songs to connect and download. Before it used to take like the length of one song to get another one downloaded.

I have resorted to actually purchasing CDs ahaha..........is there a thread here where we discuss the music we are listening to??
