    Roberto Donadoni takes Italian job

He's the new coach of Italy, a very good choice if you ask me, I really hope he can do as well as he did with little Livorno.

Very very brave choice by Italy. Donadoni is very unproven, I think and only had a little stint with Livorno. However, as far as I can remember, it was a very successful one and he managed to keep the club in the berth of the UEFA Cup spot.

I won't like him much due to his Milan's past though...

Its brave right now, but if it doenst work out, then this choice will become stupid. Italy should have gone after a proven coach, rather than him.
But anyways best of luck. Danadoni

It isn't as if the candidates were that great. Who would you rather have, Ancelloti or Zaccheroni? God forbid.

    He was my favorite, too.

I wanted to see Zaccheroni as new NT coach but I am satisfied with Donadoni...
Some people were against a female name as my nick. Strange, don't you think?

But no, I did not left only because of it. Don't worry, there is a brand new superhero who will save everyone. I just have mental issues and I am freaking disgusting.

Hmm, I would have preferred Vialli. He is young with a new mentality, but Donadoni seems to be new blood too. But like JoHan, I can't wish him luck, he was a great Milan legend.

Inexperienced Klinsmann got bronze. Donadoni was a strong individuality as a player so I guess he will be successful with Italian squad...

Zac is so persistent with 4-3-3, he'll never change. Italy isn't suitable for that formation however, so I guess that's why Zac didn't become Italy's boss.

    ---Zambrotta-Toni-Camoranesi
    -----Perrota---Pirlo---Gattuso
    -Grosso-Nesta-Cannavaro--Oddo
    -----------Buffon

He would just about do anything to satisfy his formation .

A young coach for a soon-to-be young team. The Azzurri have to start looking towards the future and now is a good time to start. Donadoni is a good choice.

I believe Zac also played 3-5-2 with us at times too, did he not?

4-3-3,3-4-3 mostly, but I could argue that it was 3-5-2, as Stankovic was a "forward" in Zac's system...

All the best for Donadoni. A really high risk choice for Italia since the unproven experience with the team. But well, Klinsi done the same thing and won a 3rd place in the Germany 2006.

I agree with you. The coach is young and he will bring many young players to the team, and this is a very good start to build for the future. Italy have won the World Cup, so I believe some of the players like Del Piero, maybe Cannavaro will retire from international football.

Now Italy must concentrate on winning European championship. If not in 2008, then in 2012 which Italy probably will host

Italy's opening games in EURO 2008 qualification are:

    2 September, Italy - Lithuania
The first home game as World Champions They have to win this game, so it will be a good start.

    6 September, France - Italy
Away game against France. I think draw will be good result, but as Italy are World Champions and many French players have already retired why not to win This would be great step on the way to EURO 2008.

P.S. Marco Materazzi will miss both matches
