A 90-years surface right doesn’t sound like full ownership.

60,000 seems slightly small. Milan is massive and affluent metropolis with only 2 clubs both of which have a huge amount of support. Inter alone can draw 60 against the minnows of Serie A. Against the Italian rivals and European elite, it could easily bring in 70,000 people IMO

Regardless, it doesnt really matter as this is Italy. The only big club allowed to have their own stadio is Rubentus.

If i'm not mistaken the Ippodromo is not owned by the City.

I guess the new venue with modern facilities will have to be charging more on tickets, thus decreasing the number of payables.

I fear it will take few years before they will make the decision. Now starts the official negotiaton phase.

But isn't this the issue if that they take too long to make a decision that they won't be able to start until after 2026 winter Olympics?

They can start building the new stadium before that, relocate to the new one when it's done, hopefully before 2026, tear down the Meazza after the Olympics are done...or threaten the city of Milano to relocate to the Rho municipality, leaving the city with nothing at all...

But this is just my wishful thinking

From today's Gazzetta dello Sport, based on the rumoured project, it's interesting to see how the ratio between “corporate (vip) seats” and “normal seats” would change with the new stadium: from 3k/80k to 12k/60k (!).

With prices skyrocketing, it's clear (if ever it were needed) the direction in which we are heading. And it's the trend.

They also state that yearly revenue should go up from roughly 40mil to 50mil to each club. I wasn't aware that Milan draws as much as we do for their home games.

They are easily capable of selling out of 90% of games in a new modern stadium at that capacity.

That’s the thing that baffles me most. If I’m building something then I want to own it or if you buy a house it’s not for 99 years it’s yours full stop.

You can go the Arsenal way (expensive tickets for everyone) or the Bayern way (expensive VIP seats, cheap tickets for the curvas).

Me neither. But I just checked the website some days ago and there are some events every month.

Or is this another location: http://www.ippodromisnai.it/sansirogaloppo/?lang=en

That's not how it works. For example the city I live, they don't sell the real property anymore. If you want to build a house, you need to rent the real property from the city. And in my city (Tampere) there are only 220k citizens. In real small cities/towns in might still work that they actually sell you the real property. But definitely not in a big city like Milano.
