wtf is ctg? :S
I'm doing C3 maths trigonometry, never came across with ctg! And I have the C4 book, not there either![]()

You don't know what is ctg? :wtf: What do you study there man???
ctg is opposite of tg... There are four trigonometrical functions: sin, cos, tg, ctg...
ctg=1/tg
or, ctg=cos/sin, while tg=sin/cos...

No I've never came across ctg or tg. We just use sin and cos, as in the book.
(co)sec θ
cot θ
arc(sin/cos/tan)
Those are the types we use.
I even asked someone who has graduated from university after studying maths and he doesn't know what ctg is! Maybe your books are ancient
P.S: I'll tell you what why don't you give me the answer and working out![]()

@pajo, If you didn't know, C1, C2, C3, C4, are A-level maths...
EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangens Still no tg and ctg![]()

tg is tan actually... (i think)... tan=sin/cos, right?
here is the solution:
(sin3a+sina*cos2a)/1-cosa=ctg(a/2)
(sina(sin2a+cos2a))/1-cosa=ctg(a/2)
sina/(1-cosa)=ctg(a/2)
sin(2a/2)/2(1-cosa/2)=ctg(a/2)
(2sin(a/2)cos(a/2))/2sin2(a/2)=ctg(a/2)
ctg(a/2)=ctg(a/2)

From the wiki, I can see that tan is same with tg... But I don't get it, where is the ctg? I gave you the formulas man...
sin - sinus
cos - cosinus
tg(tan) - tangens
ctg - cotangens
and this is the equlation: ctg(a/2)=ctg(a/2)... That ws the whole point of the example, to show that (sin3a+sina*cos2a)/1-cosa=ctg(a/2) is equal to ctg(a/2)=ctg(a/2)...

ctg = cotangens
tg = tangens
I can't really believe that you don't do tangens and cotangens at school..
1/tg = cotg
