    Best player of all time

Who do you think was/is the greatest footballer of all time? Don't be biased. With your answer, write a little to explain your choice. A few examples are:
    • Diego Maradona
    • Pele
    • Bobby Charlton
    • Zinedine Zidane
    • Franz Beckenbauer
    • Giacinto Fachetti
    • George Best
    • Roberto Baggio
    • Johan Cruyff
    • Ronaldinho
    And of course many more.

I can't believe we've never had this thread before.

Anyways, I refuse to pick any of the oldies since I've never seen a full match of any of them. But the best player I've ever seen in Ronaldinho (I only started following football regularly from 2001) because he combines trickery and efficiency perfectly.

If you're talking about skill and class then for me it's Baggio, Zidane and Totti. The sh1t I've seen in my life from them was never topped by anybody. Of course you have to understand that I wasn't around to see Maradona, Pele, Van Basten, Cruyff etc.

Maradonna. He played in average teams and made them win. He did it at napoli and with argentina at the 1984 wc. There's no doudt that he was the best player all time. Is still a tragedy that fifa decided that the player of the century award should been shared after Diego won the vote by a big margin but because they were all pele's buddies they had to include him in the award.

Out of those for me it has to be Zidane. Iíve barely seen the others play, so I donít want to comment on them. From what Iíve heard however, itís between Pele, Maradona and Best.

I personally believe that Pele was/is the best. George Best was very good, but he never won a World Cup. The rest, no one was on the same level as Pele. He was untouchable and on a level of his own.

I d say Maradona....cos he inspired and won with average teams....and came good when it mattered..

Zidane also deserves a mention as someone who won every major trophy and had a big hand in those wins
