Italian soccer club Inter stung by probe

Hmmm I wonder what their source is... Where could they be getting this news from...

    Oh wait!

    Riiiiight

P.S. This is the off season. Sports newspapers and magazines suffer severely from huge declines in ad revenues due to low readership... people don't read football news when there is no football, so newspapers need to come up with creative ways to sell more. All major sports news sources have a "summer plan", which is basically a series of "newsworthy" articles. Newsworthiness is basically determined by several factors, one of which is how controversial the topic is. Inter are always the easy targets, and when something comes out of Italy, hundreds of other news sources are more than happy to just copy it without verifying the sources.

In other words, the media sucks. But what else is new?

This just shows how biased the media are. Milan is accused of the exact same shit but they aren't the headline now all headlines scream Inter are accused of cooking the books. Firstly this is very hard to prove. Because player valuations are very subjective.

    Could Inter be demoted?
    Wednesday 20 June, 2007
Lawyers warn that Inter could be demoted to Serie B if the financial scandal is proved in the sporting courts!
The club has been named as part of an investigation into creative accounting in Serie A and a member of the Covisoc – the association that performs financial checks on Italian clubs – accused them of fiddling their 2005-06 accounts with artificially inflated player values, known as plusvalenze.

At first it seemed as if this would only result in a fine for the Nerazzurri, but specialist lawyer Mattia Grassani has a very different view.

“Financial fraud is a very serious crime, second only in the sporting justice system to sporting fraud,” he noted.

“The sanctions for directors go from a simple fine to up to five year suspensions with the possibility of a lifetime ban.

“For clubs the punishment can be either a fine, points penalties or even demotion. In the rules there is also the possibility of stripping the Scudetto, but that is up to the Federation President to decide.”

After Juventus were relegated to Serie B for their part in the Calciopoli scandal with Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and Reggina all given points penalties, will the justice system be equally as harsh on Inter?

“First of all we must ascertain whether Inter or indeed any other side has falsified financial documents, thanks to which they entered a competition that they would otherwise not have been qualified for,” explained former Investigative team member Mario Stagliano.

“In that case, we could begin inflicting the penalties set down by the rules.”

Although Inter are the newest additions to this investigation, Milan, Reggina and Sampdoria have already been named as part of the inquest.

    Moratti unconcerned by accounting claims
    Thursday, 21 June 2007 09:41:58
MILAN - Massimo Moratti is unconcerned by allegations that Inter inflated transfer fees to secure fictitious capital gains between 2004 and 2006.
"The Inter fans have nothing to worry about. We're not worried about our budgets or the increase in capital," he said this morning ahead of an Italian FA meeting.
"Life in football is like this. You have to reply to something every day, you soon get used to it. The judge and the financial police have every right to investigate us, just as we have every right to defend ourselves."

The Inter president also commented on the transfer of Cagliari striker Daivd Suazo. "It will be a battle with Galliani..." said a joking Moratti. "We will see what happens with the player."

Even if it's true, same thing was going on at Roma under Sensi, at Lazio under Cragnotti, at Udinese, Reggina etc etc and nothing happened.

    Nothing is going to happen.

It's JuBentus and BBilan against Internazionale.

And trust me, this won't stop until next season starts. First Zlatan and Moggi, then Suazo and now this accounting thing.

Be prepared for more BS this summer.

Moratti And Zanetti Not Worried By 'Absurd' Accusations Both Massimo Moratti and Javier Zanetti believe that everything will be solved sooner or later and there is nothing to worry about.

President Massimo Moratti wanted to reassure the Nerazzurri fans that Inter will come out clean from the accusations received by the club from the financial authorities, after Inter were accused of fiddling with the books in order to be able to take part in the 2005/06 championship.

"We're not worried at all about this investigation on the balances. We're surely sorry that it exists, but frankly it doesn't seem to be worrying to me," declared the Inter President during an inauguration of a new Inter Club at the Roman prison of Rebibbia.

"I'm sorry a lot for the image level," continued Moratti, "But I'm sure that the shadows of this story will soon be driven away. We still have to give our deposition which will serve to definitively clear an issue which seems to me to be absurd."

Moratti has no intention of returning the league title won in 2005/06 season, a possibility if Inter are found guilty of these accusations.

"We don't even think in the slightest way of returning the Scudetto of the 2005/06, because it was fair that they gave it to us. And then it would be like we're admitting we did something wrong."

Also Captain Javier Zanetti is confident that things will be solved soon.

"I believe that a club like ours will soon resolve this situation: they have involved Inter in things in which the club was not involved in. There was nothing to say about our team, I think they want to create us difficulties."

In Italy these accusations by lawyers are becoming more and more like paparazzi stories of celebrities. Most are way blown out of porportion and brought upon by those wanting celebrity after seeing how last years Calciopoli scandal.

Its not only us but Juve and Milan are recieving the same. Inter at most will get a fine Im sure. The press just needs to sell articles its too bad that if this continues it will just damage the already fragile credibility of the Serie A.

Capello Lashes Out At Inter And Sacchi
A totally energized Fabio Capello sent out two esplosive blasts in a recent interview he held with Sky Italia.

The first of his two salvos was fired at Serie A champions Inter, who are currently under investigation for a series of financial irregulariteries, allegedly committed ahead of the 2005/2006 season.
The Nerazzurri could possibly be denied a title, or even demoted to Serie B if found guilty, the FIGC have confirmed, and Capello's reaction has been quick.
"It would be great if that Scudetto was taken away from them, especially because of the comments I have had to hear on their ‘Scudetto of honesty’," he said. "I have had enough of this.
" Capello’s angry feelings towards Inter are clearly born out of the Calciopoli Scandal that saw last year’s Scudetto stripped away from ‘his’ Juventus.
Don Fabio's second shot was at his anti-thesis, Arrigo Sacchi, who in a recent interview criticized Capello's brand of football, and stated that he usually won when the leagues were ‘mediocre’.
“It’s a compliment, especially from someone that failed twice in Spain," rapped Capello.
"He first went to Atletico, and was sent home, and the same happened a few years later here at Real. I think that he suffered two heavy punches, and still hasn’t recovered from the shock."
Winning the La Liga title after being denied his Scudetti and then being criticized all year at Madrid, certainly seems to have got him going!

So now all the losers start to say how much they hate Inter.

That's why they invent this BS. They want to ruin our transfers this summer. They don't know that our current squad still can beat them even without signing new players.
