    Can Canna - Cordoba work?

I like Both of them so much , though they are having the same style , same length, same calibre ... but i think this due can work especially if we introduced Favalli as a left wing/back and ordered him to perform like 60% of his job in defense and not come alot in attacks .

Actually Guys i don't like Matrix though he loves the club but he makes alot of mistakes and can cost us alot of penalties in tough matches if he lost his temper . so i ll let burdisso - Canna - Cordoba and mihajlovic in very few matches take his place ...

wat do you guys think ??? do you think this Due in defense wil work if a tall left back is added to them

Two words: Tibia problem. It is all down to how it affects Cannaīs performance. If he isnīt affected we have the best central defence in the world. If he is affected I prefer Bur, Matrix and Adani ahead of Canna.

I actually luv all our defense players...They give alot and are always under lots of pressure during long periods of the game..I dont see why this cant work unless we are facing gigantic air threats..

No actually i think they can do a very good job against those u named...Yes they are short but they can really jump and head...I mean most of their goals are from corner kicks where they head the ball in

I trust them. They can handle those long centerforwards with their great jumping power unless there's someone like Koller against them.

I almoste trust all of them. except Matrix(he has a anger problem, but he loves the club), Mihaj( I think everything is sayed, what needs to be said abaut this guy)

If canna dosent perform 100% he will still be better then the most of our other defenders. So I don't understand why some of you then wonts him on the bench. As I see it I will defently play him..And let him play alongside with Cordoba..And if they get problems with tall Strikers, then I will replace one of them with Burdisso( In my oppenion he have played way better recently then Matrix have, therefor he will be my 3 choise in the CD)

To answer the question, yes, I definitely think that they can work. If you notice, there are not many sides in this world who rely on long balls and crosses anymore. Arsenal, Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia and many more; they don't cross the ball often and they don't have a tall striker ala Vieri or Koller.

So, why can't Canna and Cordoba work? On paper, they are one of the best pair in the world. Although both have been in Inter for 2 years, they rarely partner each other in a 4-men defence. With time, practice and Canna's recovery; the partnership can definitely work. It will definitely be my first choice defensive pair for next season with Matrix and Burdisso standing in line. Don't even mention Miha's name!

But without Cannaīs recovery it is a very risky duo IMO.

I prefer three players ahead of Cannavaro in the pecking order: Cordoba, Materazzi and Adani.

If he is clean of that nasty tibia problem Cannavaro is the best defender in the world.

    Wrong!

As far as I know, Materazzi hasnīt caused a single penalty thus far. While Cannavaro has at least caused two.

Not bashing Canna or anything, just debating against this fact.

People are writing off Matrix in a bad way! Matrix is one of my favourtie players overall and i dont know why he is very underrated by many.
Matrix helped Perugia to win promotion back from serie B and was wanted by many Italian clubs. I remember Lazio being favourites to get him after the injury Nesta suffered back in 98. Eriksson said if someone will ever replace Nesta then it got to be Marco Materazzi.
Perugia didnt want to sell him to any Italian rival and therefore Everton came in and paid 2.7 M pounds and Matrix later became a fan favourite back in England for 1 year. Won player of the month twice with them and scoring important goals from free kicks. Sadly, the club couldnt keep expensive players like Dacourt and Matrix and he was sold back to Perugia with 3M pounds i remember.

He had a marvellous spell with Perugia. He was captain and i remember him scoring 12 or more goals for them(This is a record for goals scored by a defender). Inter then secured his services and in the past 3 seasons(One of the few transfers i really loved Moratti for), Matrix always did well with us and above all played with his heart. After his first season 01/02, he was voted by many to be in the Italian squad for the worldcup and the pressure on Trap was too much and he had to call him for thr trip to Japan.

Finally, the way Matrix played against Juve last season 2nd leg after a lot of months away was just class and this match simply says all about him. I wonder how many defenders with so many months out will put on a performance the way he did.

Marco, the Everton spell seems very contradictal to me. What I have heard, he was considered an average defender and wasnīt liked at all.

Thatīs the stuff I have heard anyway.

That was also wath I have heard.

When Inter got him I was weary pleased ..And was one of our best defenders the firs 2 years we had him ...But last year I was weary disapointed and lost a lot of respect for him because of that insedent in the players tunnel. And that is one of the reasons why it somtimes looks like I underate him. I just don't like violent players.

He was a bit of a disappointment on the pre-season tour of Holland and Belgium with Everton at summer'98. He was slow on the turn. (I heard about this pre-season part, but didnt see it).
Anyway, when the season started he was not like this at all. Their coach at that time Walter Smith was hailed for the buy of Marco and Dacourt.
Marco was one of the few defenders in the English league at that time who "can actually play football". His calm composure in controlling the ball and bringing it out of defence was a revelation for the hoof-merchants at Everton.
But his downside was poor discipline. And an annoying tendency for getting himself sent off.

I agree he looked like a normal defender at times with them but really you could never blame Everton that year. The coach had a lot of problems and by Dec/Jan, everything was really messed up with the transfer issue of Big Duncan to Newcastle without the knowledge of the coach and other things i cant recall now. All these things were just too much for a players like Materazzi, Dacourt and others to settle; especially it was their 1st season there.
Anyway i always read that Everton fans will never forget the day he left. They always thought he would be the best defender in the world at some stage.
After all Sol Campbell at that time was just a terrible defender and Tony Adams was being dubbed as "the donkey".

So, if we are going to look at it in that way which is, his 1st year abroad and not to Turkey or France but to the English league then i personally think he did pretty well.

I remember reading somewhere an article about Matrix calling him like a jewel in terms of value. They both increase every year. I look at clubs all over the world and find starters there who are actually not in the same level with Matrix. I would hate it really if he warms the bench with Inter. He deserves better.
