    Read in C4 that Pazzani wasn't in best term with him, hence his departure from Fiorentina to Sampdoria. Not too sure if they have a personal feud or if he just left to get more first team action though.

    Yep, numerous football websites are reporting that same list...don't know what to make of it really, it's not one that I had in mind.

    I would've swapped Iaquinta for either Boriello or Rossi...I actually expected Rossi to feature in the squad but he's had limited playing time due to family issues which is unfortunate...

    I don't mind seeing Sirigu or Cassani out, but I too am a bit irked that Cossu has been omitted. As for the final squad, I would have taken out Gattuso, Camoranesi, and Pepe...however seeing as they are included, I hope they will feature only as substitutes...I hope I don't see Gattuso in any of the starting 11...

    Overall looking at the team I'm not extremely confident as better choices to be made. But that is the wrong attitude going into this tournament and I am not a coach, so we must hope Lippi knows what he's doing and Forza Italia!
    ______

    Suneet, De Rossi is included but vitomins' list is wrong since Grosso isn't.

    This is the squad I see:

    Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Federico Marchetti (Cagliari)

    Defenders: Salvatore Bocchetti (Genoa), Leonardo Bonucci (Bari), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Genoa), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Gianluca Zambrotta (Milan);

    Midfielders: Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus), Daniele De Rossi (Roma), Gennaro Gattuso (Milan), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina), Angelo Palombo (Sampdoria), Simone Pepe (Udinese), Andrea Pirlo (Milan);

    Strikers: Antonio Di Natale (Udinese), Alberto Gilardino (Fiorentina), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus), Giampaolo Pazzini (Sampdoria), Fabio Quagliarella (Napoli).

    Except for cossu the cuts are ok imho. But why is gattuso still there?? He played like shit the whole year.. Maybe Lippi keeps him because he's the motivator of the squad?

    Wasn't seeing him play like shit after the USA match in the Confed. Cup and basically the entire La Liga season enough??

    I cannot believe everyone is so obsessed with Rossi. He has played about 5% good matches, 95% bad. In a much tougher league to score in, Iaquinta had 6 goals in only 15 matches. Rossi played 34 in La Liga, where people easily score 20+ goals and he only managed 10 goals.

    I hate to admit it but Iaquinta >>>> Rossi

    Cannavaro says he is delighted to have the chance to finish his career in the Middle East.

    "I'm happy to sign for Al Ahli," he said. "I always thought of moving to live in Dubai as I love it and I have achieved my dream by moving to Dubai and play for one of its big clubs like Al Ahli."

    Cannavaro, who has 132 caps for his country, will lead Italy in South Africa this summer before retiring from international duty.

    By those stats yes, Iaquinta would seem better. Iaquinta also possesses that invaluable WC experience that Rossi does not, so Iaquinta would seem like a safer option. I am a fan of Giuseppe Rossi and while I agree he hasn't had a good season I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because his father died this year and I read it really hit him. It's very unfortunate and I hope next year he will be back to his best. IMO he should come back to Italy to further his career and skills.

    With all due respect to Al Ahli it goes to show what a 'spectacular' season Cannavaro had. Juventus refused to extend his contract and apparently Napoli refused to take him back as well after he said his whole career he wanted to return. NAPOLI refused him. I hope he has a good WC but for the benefit of the team he should retire from international football after this. If not, I still expect Prandelli to pick a new captain.

    This story is interesting:

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/1863/wor...hoices-ponders

    Lippi wants to take a 24th man --Cossu and potentially swap him with Camoranesi. Apparently Camoranesi injured himself yesterday and the extend of it is not yet known. I don't want to wish bad luck upon Camoranesi, but let's hope this injury will take longer than a few weeks to heal. It's for the good of the team.
