IEP ANNOUNCES PARTICIPATING TEAMS FOR 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION LG AMSTERDAM TOURNAMENT
Midlands based company, The International Event Partnership (IEP), the world’s pre-eminent football tournament organiser, is proud to announce that Arsenal FC, FC Internazionale and Sevilla FC will compete with host club AFC Ajax, for victory in the 10th Edition of the prestigious LG Amsterdam Tournament .
On Friday 8th and Saturday 9th August, the 51,000 seat Amsterdam ArenA will once again be the stage for a number of excellent matches.
Chief executive of IEP, David Broomhall, confirmed the line up, saying; “This year will be one of the strongest ever, with the current holders Arsenal, three times Serie A Champions Inter, and 2006 & 2007 UEFA Cup Champions Sevilla, going up against an Ajax side under the new guidance of Dutch Legend, Marco van Basten”.
Last year’s winner,
Arsenal, is again a very welcome guest. After going on to challenge for the title until the final games of the Premier League season, and making it to the last eight of the Champions League, Gunners coach Arsène Wenger recognises the value of high quality pre-season preparation, and views the LG Amsterdam Tournament as an ideal place to test his players against top class teams.
After winning the ‘scudetto’ for the third time in a row,
Inter recently signed top coach José Mourinho. The enigmatic coach signed a three-year contract with the Serie A champions and inherits a star ensemble including many top players such as former Ajax favourites Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Maxwell and Cristian Chivu.
The Spanish club
Sevilla will make their debut in this year’s tournament. The UEFA Cup 2006 and 2007 winners have been one of the leading teams in the Primera División for several years now. Last season, Sevilla played Champions League football for the first time ever, making it to the knock-out stages and will seek to further establish their name in Europe by securing their first trophy of the new season in Amsterdam.
LG Electronics, one of the world’s largest producers of electronics and ICT-products, is main title sponsor of the LG Amsterdam Tournament, for the fourth consecutive year. Mr James Kim, President of LG Electronics Europe said; "The LG Amsterdam Tournament is one of LG Electronics' big soccer sponsorships in Europe. We can expect another year of exciting games on the highest level, reflecting LG's values and commitment to Europe."
As usual there will be a unique points system at the LG Amsterdam Tournament, with a point awarded for each goal scored, which makes it possible for a team which loses its first game, to still win the tournament on Saturday. This system encourages attacking and spectacular play.
Also remaining unchanged is the great value the tournament represents. Tickets start at € 27,- for an evening, during which the audience will see two top matches.
Open Ticket sales for the LG Amsterdam Tournament will start on 28th June. From this date, Dutch supporters can purchase tickets without a Club Card at all
TicketBox stores and at
www.ajax.nl. Visiting club supporters should refer to their club for ticket sales details.
