    Sulley Muntari

He is not the one that we awaited for so long. But still. Very good business. Timing, value, quality- all very good.
Wish him lots of luck and i hope he will earn our love and respect with his game!

Good signing... This would of honestly impressed a lot of insiders as it's a smart move and we got him on a decent transfer fee.

Shazzy, Lassana didn't fail with Chelsea and Arsenal, he just didn't want to be like SWP, Mikel, Welcott etc. and just be a prospect on the bench. He joined Portsmouth to play first-team football to make it to the French NT.

I didn't say we need him, but he is a bigger impact on Portsmouth than Muntari IMO.

Hal, well, I hope you are right, but what in Cambiasso shows he might be that spark that we need? You don't have to be a dribbler, great passer with a great long pass/shot to be such, but you need some of these, I just don't think Cambiasso has it.

You should add a 4th option saying "I follow the management blindly and cant think for myself , so i naturally approve this transfer even though i know nothing about the player".

There was a good point raised by Azz in some other thread that instead of signing Muntari, who is a good player, we should have signed a player with other characteristics, a player like the old Vieira or even the current Gerrard who can take the game by the scruff of its neck and dominate it. Every world class club needs that sort of player and to a certain degree, I agree with this point. Milan have Kaka, Barca have Messi, Man Utd have C.Ronaldo and so on.

I do think that having such a player is important, and Lampard could have taken that status had he signed with us. However, I think that having too much of that kind of player would cause some 'disharmony' on the team's play, just like how Lampard & Gerrard find it so hard to co-exist when they play for the England NT.

I consider Ibrahimovic to be that kind of player who can dominate the game, honestly. I might be slightly biased because the last memories of him was when he single handedly won the Scudetto match for us but I truthfully do think Ibra is one of the world's best player. As such, it would be a better idea to build a side around him, instead of putting another dominant player on the field. I know that Zlatan has failed to bring us past Valencia in 06/07 and against Liverpool in 07/08 but I have faith in him. And thus, I am content at this transfer, since Muntari is bought with the purpose of being the supporting cast, to Zlatan's Inter.

It's a point, Han, but players like those are difficult to get. Very difficult. We have done what we can to convince Lampard, but if he doesn't want to come here there is nothing we can do.

Look, we have few old midfielders. There's Vieira who wasn't useful enough for us, and there's Dacourt who's too defensive and won't stay here for a long time.

You should look at Muntari as an addition, not a primary target. I followed him when he was with Udinese for ages, so I can easily say that he's a great addition and a future midfielder for Inter. There's no way that this is a bad transfer.

This was the first thing I thought about after reading your first two paragraphs.

Successful big clubs build their teams with the right players and the right system around their main player. An example is Man Utd. On the other hand, failures like Milan have a main player (Kaka), but they were too dependent on him and didn't provide a good team around him.

We should the same with Ibrahimovic and provide the right system for him, not Mancini's previous tactics in the CL every year.

Its not about if muntari is a decent player or not, because he is.

But will he make a difference? Will he bring anything new to the team? No he wont, and we got alot of players with the same characteristics as him and he isnt even better than them.

We needed a few players who could make a difference, who could make our starting 11 go up in quality so the managements goal of being a force in the CL was actually achievable. We havent gotten that.

Their ambitions to win doesnt match their effort to do so. To state you have the CL as your primary objective and then do nothing to improve the starting 11 is absolutely ridiculous, when its clear to everyone that changes are needed before that goal has any chance of being accomplished.

There is a big difference between players who grew to be the commander in the field, and who already became a commander and moved to another club.

Vieira(in his days), Gerrard, Gattuso, Kaka, Lampard, Messi, Albelda or any other top level commander are club grown. Ballack did success in Munich but that is only because they are basically German NT, and Ballack already gained enough respect in NT.

There are very rare exceptions like Zidane successing in RM, or Matheus successing in Inter, but that is because they are indeed rare types who deserves mentioning in football history.

I do not believe Muntari will be our leader, but wouldn't it be right to raise potential players instead of spending money and expecting 30year old players to adjust? Ballack failed, Vieira failed, Dinho's success is yet to be seen, but I don't know how well it would go when some memebers like Seedorf were already against the transfer.

Han, unlike those players that you mentioned, Zlatan is not a 'hustler'. I see him many times giving up when the ball is taking away, you'd rarely see Gerrard etc. doing that.

I know he was just an example, but CR7 isn't that much of a hustler either. He benefits from the likes of Scholes etc. Finesse players like him and Zlatan aren't midfield or team leaders, you need great work ethics for that.

I just wonder if Muntari is a Mor or Mou signing? I have no problem if he is a Mou signing but something tells me he is a Moratti one.

He adds pace and nothing else.

I dont think Mourinho is ready to trust Pele. Vieira stays injured most of the time. Cambiasso and J.Z. are the only players who werent injured for more than 2-3 weeks if I'm not mistaken. Dacourt isnt the kind of player who can run for 95mins like a mad man. He's still quite good though.

Muntari will be good at quickly closing down the attacks. Our DM's lack passing ability and pace. I now think we have a pacy option in the middle. I'm also hoping Mourinho sorts out the problem of moving the ball ahead to Ibra/SuperMario.

Moratti wouldn't find Muntari for a million years. Serioslly, his transfers are Ronaldo, R.Baggio, Vieri, Figo, Davids etc. So in this case, I am 100% sure that Muntari isn't his transfer.

Exactly. This is a replay of the episode "Mourinho wants Gerrard, not possible. Signed Essien and became a huge success!"

Han, I agree Muntari is not Cristiano Ronaldo, but we will probably/hopefully soon have Ricardo Quaresma for that!

Quality reply in the other Muntari topic!

I am really happy with Muntari signing and his statement! He is honest and sincere - he knows what he's talking, he's not fake! He wants INTER and INTER wants him! He is almost a decade younger than Lampard and will earn less than half of Lamp's wage! He can develop into a greater player than Lampard and Essien because he has huge potential!
Thank you Muntari for your kind words of INTER! Welcome to INTER! Work hard and be the best african player!

PS: Muntari is NOT only a defensive midfielder [DM] but he's a two-way midfielder that Mr. Mourinho needs for 4-3-3 [CM] !!
Zanetti - Cambiasso - Muntari with Vieira now forced to fight for a place!! GREAT! Quaresma final signing of this summer market and we are done!
