    Inter - Chievo

Inter - Chievo @ Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
    Serie A Week 25 - 14/3/04 (15.00)
Interís campaign goes from bad to worse, but can they end a run of four consecutive defeats against Chievo?

Alberto Zaccheroni is now under real pressure to deliver the goods or face replacement on the Nerazzurri bench. There are even reports that Hector Cuper could be drafted back in just five months after he was sacked for less disastrous results than these.

The tactician faces a real nightmare after the 4-1 demolition at Roma, as Cristiano Zanetti, Thomas Helveg, Francisco Farinos and Ivan Cordoba will all be suspended for this match. To make matters worse, Francesco Coco, Matias Almeyda, Carlos Gamarra, Emre, Marco Materazzi and Dejan Stankovic are still sidelined.

Alvaro Recoba returns from his one-match ban, but if recent decisions are anything to go by he will not be guaranteed a spot in the starting eleven. Kily Gonzalez was given the nod last Sunday and should again partner Christian Vieri and Adriano. The emergency situation could force Zac back into using a 4-4-2 system with Giovanni Pasquale and Javier Zanetti picking up the fullback positions. Vieri will be one to watch, as he has always netted against Chievo with five goals in four meetings.

The odds suggest that Inter should end this extraordinary run of results, especially as Chievo are also struggling in 2004, but their history at the San Siro is enough to get those Donkeys Flying high with optimism. Gigi Del Neriís first ever trip here was a 2-1 victory in 2001, followed by a very close defeat by the same scoreline a year later.

They have lost some of their giant-killing mystique this season, but it should be noted that Chievoís form away from home is their greatest asset with 17 of their total 30 points picked up on their travels. The 4-4-2 system has a solid midfield, including Nerazzurri transfer target and Italian international Simone Perrotta, while Andrea Barzagli is a real danger in the air on set-pieces. Goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani remains sidelined with an injury, so Giorgio Frezzolini should again stand between the posts.

Inter (probable): Toldo; J Zanetti, Adani, Cannavaro, Pasquale; van der Meyde, Lamouchi, Okan, Kily Gonzalez; Vieri, Adriano

Chievo (probable): Frezzolini; Moro, Barzagli, DíAnna, Lanna; Semioli, Perrotta, Baronio, Santana; Pellissier, Amauri

This game is critical in our path to getting the 4th and final CL spot. This is a must win game, please Inter, no more draws and especially no more disastrous losses, YOU GUYS MUST WIN!!!!!

I think we might struggle here. A lot, and I mean A LOT of our players will be unavaliable. But, Thank God that Helveg is one of them. After supporting against Inter last week, it's time for me now to support them again. Honestly, if we can't win this one, all the players & coaches can go to hell. Our team is a good team and we definitely must not go to the record books for the wrong season. Our most negative string in Serie A was when we lost 5 times in a row. Hell if crappy coach like Tardelli can't break that, Zac should prove to us his worth by avoiding it too!!!

    ANDIAMO INTER!!! FORZA RAGAZZI!!!

I will get to watch this match, I guess. Hope it won't be yet another match like :

    Inter - Roma : 1-4
    Inter - Udinese : 1-2
    Inter - Brescia : 1-3
    Inter - Milan : 2-3
    Inter - Modena : 1-1

Stankovic might be back for us ??
    So, will be Adriano, Vieri,...

C.Zanetti, Farinos, Cordoba, Helveg are suspended. I hope Biavi gets the chance to start this game as I don't think we have got any other players for that role unless Zach plays Lamouchi as DM.

GREAT THAT HELVEG IS SUSPENDED, C'MMON HELVEG !! DO WHAT MATRIX DID AND GET SUSPENDED !! (sadly that would not be good for the club's image)

How are we gonna play ? back 4 ?? I think and hope so.... jack ass Zach..

    -------------------toldo---------------------

    j.zanetti----adani----cannavaro---pasqua

    v.meyde---biavi------stankovic------kily

    -------------vieri--------adriano-----------

But that could mean that all these players will be left in bench :
    Karagounis, Martins, Recoba ...... ??

Anyway, that line up seems to be good....
May be the changes would be : Biavi -- Lamouchi/? (if Zach plays 4-4-2)

But wait, Zach also said that he wouldn't change his 3-4-3 even when few players would be ruled out (as we already know it).

Or this seems to be good as well, only if we are to play 4-4-2 though :

    ------------------toldo---------------------

    b.okan----adani-----cannavaro---pasqua

    v.meyde---j.zan-----stankovic------kily

    -------------vieri------adriano-----------

That won't be bad.... J.Zanetti as DM.

    Oh I can't deci

I suggest starting right away with Karagounis, he's been playing well in these last couple games. At least we'll know he'll try out there, which is alot more that can be said for our whole team in general.

I have got to watch Karagounisí substitute appearance in many games and I think that heís good if played in central midfield Ė RCM / LCM / CM (not DM). But I doní think he can do that good as flank forward. He does seem to be good in those central midfield positions.
If Stankovicís suspension is not reduced, Zach must play Karagounis, like this :

    Okan/J.Zanetti----J.Zanetti/Biavi/Lamouchi----Karagounis----Pasquale/Kily

I very much doubt that Zach would start Biavi, so J.Zanetti might play as a DM if not Lamouchi. Okan as DM :?:

we should definitely win this one. it's against Chievo, for goodness sake!! i think we should put all of or first team players who aren't suspended or injured in this game... give us a victory to boost our morale...

this will be my desired line-up:
    --------------Toldo----------------
    --Capitano--Adani----Canna----
    VDM-----Kara---Stankovic--Kily
    -----------------Chino------------
    ---------Vieri---Adriano----------

i don't believe Zach will ever change his 3-4-3 formation, so this is what i hope he will do...

Changing formation every game just because one or two players can't play isn't right ,I suggest 343.

    Toldo

    Gamarra Adani Canna

    Zanna Lamouchi Deki Pasquale

    VDM Vieri Adriano

or if it must be 442:

    Toldo

    Zanna Canna Adani Pasquale

    VDM Lamouchi Deki Kily

    Vieri Adriano

Exactly my thoughts. I hope Zac will field a 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-3 again.

Its Biava Pravesh, not Biavi... and also I really doubt that Zac would start him when a more experienced player like Karagounis is around....

I also doubt that we will play with the 4-4-2, probably the crappy 3-5-2 or the 3-4-3...

Hopefully Zac can use any formation but the 3-5-2, we haven't done well with the formation 1nce, other than against Udinese in the Coppa...

We seem to have it the other way round, we get to see a few Inter games, ie. Inter/Roma, but not UEFA Cup games which is a pain because Okan - my favourite player - tends to get to play in UEFA Cup more than anything else!!
    Forza Okan
