this weekend Paolo Maldini plays his last home game in front of the san siro crowd...a legend puts an end to a stunning career...

no matter he's been our rival for many years on the pitch,he is one of the very few players who is respected by all fans irrespective of which team they support....

"Per 20 anni nostro rivale, ma nella vita sempre leale" (For 20 years our opponent, but in life always loyal)...
was a message by the interisti written on a banner before the last Inter-Milan derby..

Captain on and off the pitch,a true leader,an absolutely fair player...

Great post. Paolo Maldini is a true legend and one of the saddest things in football is he wasn't involved in the World Cup win of 2006. Great man, great player shame he plays for a shit club but we'll forgive him that for today; buona fortuna Paolo; I just hope the Milanisti are as gracious towards Il Trattore when he retires.

I met him in Milan some years ago. He took a break from buying shoes to take a picture with us. Class is the correct word to describe this legend.

I was eight years old first time I saw him play. I think the fact that only now, almost twenty years later, is he retiring and that speaks volumes about what kind of player he is. Probably the greatest defender of all time and he will always have my admiration.

On another note, and ya'll knew it was coming: This legend of a player that's battled so many legendary footballers named Ibra in his top 5 best forwards he's ever faced. That made me so proud.

Salut Paolo, you'll be missed.

I would have respected him more, if he didnt keep on playing way past his expiry date.
He could have gone on a very high after the CL title he won with Milan in 2007, rather than go out as a part of this mediocre team, that has become quite a joke in world football.

I respect legends who know when to retire. For Maldini that should have been 2 years ago, for Bobbo that should have been 3 years ago, for Figo that should have been 5 years ago, for Quaresma, that should have been 15 years ago.

Still a great legend, and the only player in Milan apart from Kaka, with some class. We will miss you Paolo.

Weird feeling to see Maldini retire. I grew up watching him and my very 1st Italy jersey had Maldini on the back. One of the biggest legends I've ever had the chance to see play.
